Charming, cute n sweet lil storefront and friendly staff! Went in for dessert after dinner and enjoyed their Gluten free chocolate chip and regular snicker doodle cookies. Both were heavenly(n a lil doughy. Which I lllooovvee!) and satisfied our sweet tooth demons!

I just have to say, this place is amazing! We received a desperate call from our son at 10:30pm that his wife really hoped she going to have a birthday cake for her birthday dinner the next night. He didn’t think a grocery store cake would be good enough for her. He wanted a true bakery cake. Well, the next morning I started making calls to bakeries close to where I work in Dallas. I continued to strike out. No one could accommodate that request as there wasn’t enough lead time. I decided to search the local bakeries in McKinney and see if they could help me out. After looking on Unilocal,I called and spoke with Kathy from the Sweet Shop. I explained the dilemma and she said she would be happy to make a cake for us to pick up later in the day. I was so happy! Problem solved! Our daughter-in-law was thrilled when it was brought out after dinner at Bob’s Steakhouse. It was absolutely beautiful! We all have a sweet tooth and cakes and cupcakes are our weakness, and this exceeded ALL of our expectations. It was our new favorite cake! We had the White cake with White buttercream frosting with almond flavoring added to both and it was incredible. The cake was so moist and the frosting was the perfect amount of sweet. Not only did McKinney’s Sweet Spot bake a cake for us in a short period of time, but it was the most delicious cake we had ever tasted! My birthday is next week and I just placed an order for my birthday cake! I can’t wait. I know Kathy and Elizabeth(the baker) will completely wow us all again! Thanks ladies!

I’ve driven past here plenty of times, but had never stopped by. When a hair appointment on the square got pushed back, I had time to grab some lunch, but everywhere was packed with too long waits! I saw the sign on the square and walked the half block down to the Sweet Spot. There was no wait, it was nice and quiet, and the food was good! I got the chicken salad sandwich on toasted wheat, which I enjoyed just as much as the one at Snug without the super long wait in line and waiting for a table. The staff was super nice too. I gave 4 stars based on the fact that my latte was just«okay» and they charge for water. Still a very pleasant experience and I’m glad I came!

I stumbled on to Sweet Spot a few months ago, and after too many mini cupcakes to count, become a fan. I have made this my go to for all cakes, cupcakes, and especially those brownies. On Tuesday as I furiously pulled together my husband’s birthday celebration, I realized I forgot the cake… at 6:30. I called the store and was relieved they answered and expressed it. She explained they actually closed at 6 already. Hearing deflation in my voice, she asked what I needed. I explained i just need a dozen cupcakes and world order would be restored. She took it upon herself to meet me at the shop and fulfill my order, even though she was at home already. This is what true service is all about. They have my loyalty and mouthpiece. My daughter was so impressed she called and placed an order today. Being a great business owner and extending extra to your customers… pays in dividends of more customers. Great Job and thanks for saving Birthday!

This is a down home old school dessert shop. They have cupcakes, ice cream, and friendly service. What more could you want. The day we were there, they had day old cupcake on sale for a discount. Additionally, their ice cream is good and fairly priced. There is both indoor seating(it is kind of dark inside) and a few tables outside on the sidewalk. We would not have even known about this place but for the sign on the corner in the square. It is a half block off the square but worth the walk.

The place is a joke! They charge more than Starbucks and charged me $ 1 for water when I ordered other items. I go once a month to downtown McKinney and no one in the square ever charges that much if anything for water. What irritated me the most is one, the cups were not Styrofoam so they don’t hold the humidity well, two, the cup cost a penny and three, the cup was super small. Never, wil I ever support businesses where they rip ypu off but especially small business owners who act like they aren’t when their employees agree that they are indeed ripping people off. My biggest irritation in life is greedy, lying, business owners. I hate writing poor reviews but when you ask for it then I have to share.

We LOVE this place! Small, quaint, just off the fabulous McKinney square. We enjoy sitting inside(and sometimes outside) sipping herbal tea and munching on whatever that one sweet thing is that catches our eye in the display cases. Great place to talk and watch things go by. We’ve been there a few times in the evening when a «live band» is playing… lots of fun! We especially love being there during the Autumn and Winter when hot chocolate with the pumpkin bread becomes magical.

I recently had a cake made for my Mom’s Birthday and it was Divine !!! They make the best old fashioned buttercream icing. The bakery staff are very friendly and helpful and their cakes are delicious and very reasonably priced. Check this place out, the Red Velvet Cupcakes are worth the trip to Downtown Mckinney :)

Solid coffee, decent food and snacks, and an excellent assortment of tasty desserts in a cozy and quaint shop with friendly, nice service. The coffee is self serve and offers free refills if you stay in the shop. There are many tables at which you can sit and do work. The red velvet cupcakes and the brownies are awesomely delicious.

Whenever I’m in the area, I stop by McKinney’s Sweet Spot for a Gooey Butter Cake. The same young lady always help me and is very friendly. The interior is inviting and has that homey feel to it. Be careful with the screen door as it slams behind you.

Scones. Scones. Scones. and great Hazelnut Lattes… smiling service. Good kolaches from their own fresh-baked dough, and their«ooey-gooey butter cake» is devilishly good.

Ordered 2 very small Oreo cake ball type items and 2 mini cupcakes… along with a «lemonade» and«tea» — total price — just under 10 bucks. The reason I am using quotes around the drinks is because they both tasted like powdered or instant. I couldn’t even drink the lemonade. The bakery items were very sub par… grainy and not fresh was the over arching theme ANDVERYOVERPRICED!!! The young girl who served us was very nice and pleasant… probably the only reason I didn’t give one star. I do not think I would consider going back with all of the other options around the square.

I wouldn’t come back, the few pastries they had were old, the service is slow, and the white mocha I ordered was mediocre. Everything in here is too expensive for the quality.

This is a great place to come for a warm drink in the winter, ice cream in the summer or yummy treats year round. The atmosphere and décor is very colorful and cozy. The owner and staff are very friendly too. My kids love their Bluebell ice cream flavors, which they would rather have over gelato any day. Their cupcakes and sweets taste great, especially the gooey butter cake. It’s definitely a favorite!

Nice little spot just off the Mckinney square, used to be Coffee2. We stopped by for an after school treat of cupcakes: pb, chocolate lovers, and cream cheese. First thought: They are regular sized cupcakes for gourmet price. Second thought: Ok, I don’t mind paying a bit more if it’s a treat… BUT, my chocolate one was 2-days-old dry with grainy icing, my son’s pb was much less dry but still w/grainy icing, and my daughter’s cream cheese was moist and smooth throughout. I would have taken the chocolate back to give them a chance to redeem themselves but I was already headed home(Plano). Third thought: Paying $ 11⁄3 cupcakes I’ll head on down to Spoons or elsewhere. I will say their ice cream selection looked decent… so I might give it a 2nd chance.

Hey, this is new! McKinney’s Sweet Spot is a new addition in the Coffee Squared space. I wasn’t all that impressed with Coffee Squared at first, partly because it felt like this cavernous space that wasn’t all that warm. Well, they’ve solved that problem by adding in the Sweet Spot, so that now you have the option of either coffee and a sandwich from Coffee2, or a cupcake or ice cream from the Sweet Spot. Can’t go wrong there! The space is nice — classic coffee shop with some exposed brick, warm lighting, and wonderfully comfortable arm chairs. The brownie from the Sweet Spot was fantastic and huge, and there’s free wi-fi. All in all, while I love me some Snug, Snug closes in the afternoons and is more of a restaurant/café with full meals. For sitting quietly for hours with your laptop and a cup of coffee or a cupcake, Coffee Squared/Sweet Spot is probably your best bet in the Square.
