Customer service sucked. Hair cut was average at best. I’m new to the area and thought that this place would straight. Dude that cut my hair didn’t even try to win me over as a possible new client. This place isn’t worth being known as one America’s best shops.

Barber craftsmanship is average at best, but the real problem with this shop is it’s lack of professionalism. I’ve been in a couple times trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. I try to support black businesses when I can, but no more. Multiple subpar experiences. They either don’t acknowledge you when you come in so you’re twittling your thumbs for 45 minutes, show lack of courtesy when you call on the phone, or worst of all completely ignore the shop’s posted business hours. You can definitely do better elsewhere even in Collin county for a better cut and better service.

Living in McKinney, I thought I would have the choice of driving south of 635 for a good clean Black barber shop or have to settle for the corporate barbershops in McKinney with their overpriced haircuts by novice stylists. The Fade Shop gave me a third and best option; a classy barber shop close to home. Chris is a very nice guy and a great stylist. He had me in the chair ready to go at our appointment time and cut and styled my hair just right. I also noticed two other customers in the shop who were just cut by Chris and the gentleman in the second chair and I was amazed at the quality of hairstyle they received. The place is always clean and smells great. The reading material in the waiting area was diverse, from car and hip hop mags for the younger clients to newspapers and business magazines for yuppies like me. I highly recommend The Fade Shop to anyone looking for highly skilled and professional barbers. I believe they have a salon for the ladies as well.
