I am really surprised with some of the bad reviews on here!
I was with my friend who was visiting, and we decided to stop before starting our power shopping.
They sat my and my friend next to each other and patiently waited while we picked out our colors, They offered us beverages while we did so which were in our hands in seconds.
I could not decide on a color so my technician (Lisa) put each color on one of my fingers and let me see them all before I chose.
The salon was very clean, and the stations were spaced very nicely so that no one was hitting into anyone else. Also I was enthralled to see my technician and my friends technician take out brand new autoclaved instruments. Being a health care professional, and knowing about how staph infections and other microbials can be transferred this is so important to me.
I also found the staff to be very professional, and gave me some good advice on how to maintain nice cuticles since my skin is dry from frequent hand washing.
Both of our manicures came out great! She did exactly what I asked, and I love my nails.

Natalie does an amazing job on my nails, be it acrylic or gel or a regular french manicure. She is my go-​to person for gel manicure.

Once again great job from modern nails in Tysons. I had a picture of what I wanted and Kathy told me no problem she can do it but it would take a while. So we decided to take 2 days. First day she did a full set of liquid gel to get the shape. It took about an hour and a half. The next day I went back to get the color and design. My nails look exactly like the picture I showed her and look great. This isn’t the usual style I go for but I really like it and maybe I’ll try to change things up a little more often. They seem to be pretty busy during the holiday season so I would suggest making an appointment if you want a particular nail tech.

I went here after reading not so terrible reviews. I had Chi, she first told me that because I was wearing boots that I had to get a gel pedicure. I wasn’t having that at all. So I said no thank you twice and picked out my color. I then spent maybe less than 25 minutes in the chair total, for there Modern Pedicure for $ 30 that really didn’t include anything except a 30 sec foot rub followed by some lotion lathered all over my legs. The other ladies asked there clients if they wanted water, wine or tea. She did not offer that to me.
The worst part is that she literally cut my big toe nails into two different shapes. My right big toe is short and diagonal and round and my left big toe is longer and square. When I asked her to cut it shorter she said she didn’t want to cut so low, but that didn’t seem to stop her on the right side.
While I was sitting there I ONLY came for a pedicure as I get my nails done some where else. She asked me 3 times if I was sure I didn’t want a manicure. HELL NO.
Then she puts me at the dryer, I don’t see her again until I am getting ready to pay and she appears like the GREAT HOUDINI for you bet yay… her TIP. I believe in tipping even when the service is complete shit. I tell the gal to please add $ 3.00 she follows up we only take cash tips which is not displayed anywhere in the salon or on there fancy website. She then states there’s an ATM in the back, which I don’t use because you end up being hit twice by those ATM places. She told me I could come back tomorrow to tip her. I left not being able to tip and actually didn’t feel badly about it. I will NEVER ever GO back here.

Can I give zero stars!?! Never come here as a walk in. Chi, the nail technician was assigned to me for my fill in. After she filled in my nails and filed them down, she asked me to go to the sink to wash off the residue leftover from drilling.
When I came back to her section, she had another client sitting in my chair. Chi had already started services on her. Literally asked me to sit in the next chair to wait on another tech. What?!? Are you serious???
She was completely rude saying «I had a scheduled appointment!» Why would you even start on me if you couldn’t finish my nails. She then came over and try to attempt at painting my nails real fast and sloppy. Another tech came over to assist.
I cannot believe the service and rudeness at this establishment.

I don’t really get the bad rap this place has! I came here with my sister and our friend to get manicures and pedicures before our friend’s wedding, and had a perfectly good experience. I actually made the reservation here upon the recommendation of a friend and without having seen any of the Unilocal reviews (bad CM, I know, but hey) and if I had checked Unilocal beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have come at all. Just goes to show you, you never do know!
Our pedicures were very relaxing, and while the technicians do try to upsell you a lot on getting a fancier pedi (it worked on us suckers, ha!), it ended up being worth it for the awesome massage alone. We also got gel manicures, and had no issues there. Nails still look good a week later, which is all that really matters in the end!
Call me a maverick for finding this nail joint perfectly decent in spite of its less-​than-​stellar reviews, but there you have my two cents!

I’ve been to this salon a total of 4 times I want to say and I really just can’t figure out how I really feel about them.
I will say though, I feel pressured into extra unnecessary services every time, I get it, they want to make money but come on, ask me once, not a million times over and over again.
The staff is a hit or miss. I actually like the lady who did my pedicure this time around, she was very nice and energetic and she actually did a great job on my nails, except the fact that they’re still a little too long.
I would suggest going here earlier in the day rather than later but they get tired and your service may not be as great later in the day.
I will say though, they do not take tip on credit cards, so be sure that you bring cash with you.

Don’t come here unless you plan on leaving pissed off and having to reprint your nails yourself — not to mention a lack of infection control — my technician continued to answer her phone while she was doing my pedicure — with her gloves on… After she painted my nails which was like having your five year old paint them … She didn’t bother to clean the excess paint on my skin on my nails. then painted four layers of red on two of my nails which caused them to look terrible after she smudged it by accident — then tried to fix it. I told them I wasn’t paying for the manicure — and I’m normally very forgiving. but this is the second time this has happened. They gave me $ 8 off and insisted I stay to have them redone. Nice, but I have to go. :(

Cindy and Michelle are the best!!! I love coming here! They always have wine and they have several options for pedicures. The chairs are awesome too. They are conveniently located at Tysons Mall!!!
