Back for a birthday meal — half disaster. Ice cold and hard food that we waited 48 minutes for. Didn’t remove it from the bill but offered us a free dessert. Pitiful.

What a complete GEM in the middle of downtown Mebane(population 15,000)! Cocktail Check, perfectly prepared. House wine ½ off Sweeeet! Duck confit taco Check excellent flavor! And gluten-free. Kale salad GF — perfect amount of dressing-not too much-not too little– just like Goldilocks just right! Main course… Korean Cornish Hen w/rice noodle flan & Bok Choy GF — wonderfully prepared! This place belongs in a big city, but I’m glad it is in Mebane. Whenever I visit my kids & grandkids I will hit this place. I am going to Vegas on Sunday — I’m sure I’ll pay more for a meal but I might not have any better than this!

The absolute best food in Mebane! Such a nice addition to Clay Street. I’ve eaten here lots of times and I always leave happy. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and out of this world food! The shrimp and grits are my go to because they’re so good, but I also love to hear the specials because they’re always good.

My fiancé and I went here for brunch on Valentine’s Day. The food was absolutely delicious and served quickly. I had the crab cakes eggs benedict and it was by far the best crab cake I have had in a long time. My fiancé had the French toast which was also delicious. We seemed to get there just a head of the lunch rush. However, the service was a little off. We had to ask for sugar/cream for coffee several times and the waitress was cold and unfriendly throughout our experience. Everyone else was very warm and welcoming. All in all we will definitely be back.

Just got home from a wonderful Sunday brunch at Mebane Downtown Table. We were a party of 20 and used the front room. We were running ½ hour late and they were totally accommodating. The Bloody Marys were absolutely amazing! I just had a couple sips because I was driving, but if I wasn’t, I would have had one myself. Everyone was pleased with the awesome beer selection. The brunch menu meals were uniformly delicious. We sampled each others dishes and all agreed. My significant other always has to order the shrimp and grits when he sees it on the menu and he thought it was top notch. The biscuits with the small sample jars of jelly while we were waiting on our food was a nice touch. Nice find. We all agreed we would be returning soon. Thanks so much!

First off let me say that my husband and I are quite picky when it comes to a good dining experience, but Mebane Downtown Table was incredible. Coming from Durham, we wanted to meet our friends(Mebane residents) somewhere closer to them; I was so relieved when I found this place. There were four adults and one restless two-year-old. The waitstaff was extremely sweet(shout-out to the Sunday morning team on 12÷6÷15) and patient with the toddler. The food was great, too — a nice variety and extremely delicious. On top of the kindness & good food, the place was adorable. The table settings were classy, the environment was warm and friendly, and the soft Christmas music was a nice touch. I honestly am so impressed with this restaurant and I’m glad to have somewhere nice to go in that part of the area. We will certainly be going back. One more thing — they allow casual dress, but the place is so lovely that stepping up your wardrobe a bit wouldn’t hurt.

Had a most enjoyable dinner tonight with my husband. Service was excellent. Rochelle, our server, was outstanding, knowledgable and most attentive. I had the shrimp and grits which were excellent. Husband ordered the salmon and enjoyed also. We split the fried green tomato appitizer and crème brûlée. Nice wine selection.

I have eaten here many times. It is one of the better Mebane restaurants. Eclectic décor from repurposed furniture. I had high hopes it would become a 4 star but the owner does not seem to know how to do this. Prices are near a genuine 4 star but they cut to many corners and the servers are just a cut above Wendy’s. I have stopped going as it is sad to say but Ruby Tuesdays is better. They need to find a real Chef as the food always sounds so inticing, but never lives up to the billing. The owner needs to pay attention to the servers who seem more interested in talking to each other than with the customers. We have been there for several birthdays and anniversaries, which was made known when reservations were made, and they never said KMA or congratulations. I had high hopes but it is disappointment.

I’ve eaten here for brunch and dinner and have enjoyed myself both times. It’s really exciting to have such high quality food in downtown Mebane. Every meal is very thoughtfully prepared, filling, and delicious. The beer and wine selection is expansive. The staff is friendly and knowledgable about what they are serving. All this being true, you’d expect this restaurant to be more towards the expensive side, but it’s just a few dollars more per plate than you’d pay at, say, La Fiesta. This is the«nice restaurant» people have been wishing would come to downtown Mebane for years. Now that it’s here, I hope everyone will take advantage of the great food it has to offer.

This was a very nice restaurant, good food, a polite wait staff, and beautiful décor. I ordered the seared mahi with lemon risotto which was excellent. It was perfectly cooked and a decent portion size. My boyfriend had the mushroom pasta and a Caesar salad which he said was very good. The only reason I am rating this restaurant 4 stars is that the menu was very limited. There were a few appetizers and salads and maybe 7 – 8 entrée choices. Otherwise, a great place to eat.

Mediocre food, Crème brûlée sucked, nice atmosphere and nice staff, however still had to pay for the brûlée though there was only about 2 bites taken out of it, nothing but a «oh sorry». Will not be going back.

Was so excited to finally have the opportunity to try the highly recommended and well reviewed Downtown Table. I made reservations on a Saturday night and was surprised that despite the cool atmosphere when we arrived the place was pretty empty. The appetizers and entrees overall seemed in cohesive and the bread and herb butter served at the table while we waited seemed unnecessary. Our server was friendly and recommended a decent pinot grigio and the Mahi. We ordered the Mahi with risotto, NY strip steak and jambalaya dish. My steak was hard and chewy and mashed potatoes flavorless and tasted like ones out of the box. The Mahi was perfectly cooked but the risotto was extremely lemony with a bad after taste. We had no choice but to send it back. Our server apologized for the risotto and quickly brought out the fish tacos we ordered instead which we delicious. The jambalaya was tasty but very spicy even for a well seasoned diner. The flourless chocolate cake was rich and on point but needed just a bit more raspberry sauce on the plate to cleanse the palate. Overall my party wasn’t too impressed by the food and lack luster atmosphere due to an empty space. There is a lot of potential and I understand where the Table is trying to be but they fell short on the execution.

Atmosphere is upscale comfortable but casual. Good food, yum. Husband had Mahi; fresh and just enough. I had Mushroom Pasta, it was one of the best I eaten a long while. I highly recommend this restaurant.

First time here. Heard good things from someone else, and the food definitely lived up to the hype. The complimentary baguette and seasoned butter was tasty and kept coming if you asked for it. First we had the«Spanish Shrimp Cocktail», which was absolutely fantastic. Six delicious blackened shrimp, nice light and refreshing avocado pico de gallo. I had their«Side Salad» with this, which consisted of carrots, diced tomatoes, thin onion strips and MIXEDGREENS(not that cheap iceberg filler). Their ranch was not thick and heavy, but didn’t seem watered down. Next was the main course. We shared the«Shrimp + Grits», which were made with yellow corn grits(the only way, in my opinion). Between the smokey bacon, the cream sauce and the perfect texture of the grits(not too thick, but not runny), it was a delight and better than most others that offer the same. We also shared the«Bone In Chicken Breast». Cooked just right, moist but done, and with a sweet peach sauce that was pleasantly unique. The potatoes had the skin on(my favorite), but were room temperature while the chicken was still hot, which led me to believe that it was not freshly prepared. The spinach was whole-leaf, a nice change from the usual chopped, and very tasty. Lastly, we had the«Espresso Cheesecake». A touch«grainy», but a good finishing touch on the meal. It really had a great taste, but hard to share between two people due to its size. Great with their high-quality bold coffee! Across all the entrees, which were comparably priced to even major chain restaurants, the quality is definitely higher than most other establishments, which unfortunately for me(an abnormally heavy eater), meant smaller portions. However, I left satisfied, but not uncomfortably full, even with all three courses. The most disappointing aspect was the fact that we sat down at 6:25pm, weren’t greeted until 6:45pm, at which time we ordered our appetizer, which we didn’t receive until almost 7:15pm. This, FORTUNATELY, did not seem like the«norm», as other customers seemed to have prompt service. They offered us free beverages of our choice, eventually comp-ing all of them. Another server who witnessed our lack of service came over to our table, apologized himself, and explained it was a lack of communication between the hosting and wait staff. The atmosphere was romantic and quiet, with soft piano music in the background, creating a nice ambiance. The staff looked professional in all black attire, the smooth smaller tables were nice, but almost seemed too small. It was hard to fit two entrée plates, bread plate, all glasses and the decorative orchids at once. Concluding, we’d definitely go back again, expecting the same great food with a bit more prompt service. I’d recommend to anyone, hoping they got helped quicker.

Atmosphere is good, they also feature an excellent and eclectic beer selection, Adam is a wonderful chef but their pricing it is a bit on the higher cost side for the locale just so you walk in prepared. I had the coconut curry with a sliced chicken breast for $ 19.50 Adding a chicken breast was $ 5… which I thought a bit much for one that looked to be just seared on a griddle. No seasoning, no grill marks or any flavor other than a bare chicken breast. The coconut curry was very good as well as the small slices of bread brought to the table. My wife had a Cobb salad with«Pork Belly» that she enjoyed as well and felt it was priced marginally high. The pork belly had a texture more like a thinly sliced pork chop than extra thick bacon. The only other frustration was that they use Square to accept payment for the service. The wait staff does not take up your payment table side and there is no option to receive an itemized receipt for filing with employer expense account. The emailed receipt kept trying to print on multiple pages no matter how I formatted it. I finally had to convert it to a notepad file and strip out all the extraneous fluff that didn’t apply to the meal/payment. Mind you, these aren’t complaints so much as easy areas to improve with just slight modifications. We both enjoyed our experience and had a very pleasant meal but we just felt there were some things that stuck with us more so than other restaurants offering a similar fare. Personal opinion; I’d like to see this place be closer to something like the Eddy or Geer Street Garden or Milltown rather than mixed posh like the Lantern.

First time diner here for the short period they’ve been open. Overall good experience and recommend a visit to others and will certainly repeat a visit in the near future. Mebane/Burlington lack variety and depth for dining and this place shows potential for improving this. The space used to belong to Reed’s, which seemed out-of-place here and I much prefer the newer, smaller, across-the-street location. They’ve(Downtown Table) updated some structure to the space, paint, lighting — it’s pleasant. The Good — good classic varieties on the menu, GF& V options, the gazpacho was nice, stuffed poblano pepper was great and the house Cabernet demanded a second glass. The So-So — I felt the complimentary bread needed a warmer temp for the herb butter. The waiter lacked knowledge on some beer choices and general confidence in his engagement. Perhaps it’s a bit early to criticize that aspect for the restaurant’s age, but it’s what I observed.
