I went there this morning for a late breakfast on Sunday. We had to wait for about an hour to be seated. There were only two of us. Finally after we got seated the server came over to us and asked us what we wanted to eat. I just sat down and didn’t even get a chance to look at the menu. After about 5 minutes he came back and brought our drinks. The server seemed angry and basically slammed our drinks down. He took our order and could barely hear us over the noise going through the restaurant. I ordered the Mamma breakfast that had eggs and pancakes. My girlfriend ordered gravy and biscuits. The pancakes tasted like they were cooked in gas and the sausage gravy tasted like cardboard. Overall the experience was terrible and we will not be going back. The only good part was that it was cheap.

Ate here for only the second time and only came back a second time because they were the only place open close by, for Thanksgiving dinner. I just cannot stand the layout and the noise. To have to squeeze through a crowded gift shop to even get into the place, then to have to do it again to use the restroom and then again to get out of the place just ticks me off. The meal today was fine as was the service but nothing outstanding. The noise level is high, I assume because there is no carpeting on the floor. But both times, the place is packed. I don’t get it because it is nothing special.

Pretty straight forward at this location. Excellent service, very nice staff and the food was great. Next time I’m in the area I will be sure to make a return trip.

We’ve hit tons of Cracker Barrel restaurants over the years and this one was just barely par. Country Fried Steak is my go-to, this one was barely warm when brought out and it looked like they barely even tried to put and amount of cream gravy on it. Come to find out the reason it was cool in the middle is it had been cooked rare, something usually not done with Country Fried Steak. I didn’t finish it, needless to say. Now I’m using the extra cream gravy I had to order to smother a biscuit for my main course. The fried okra was extremely hot, but there was so little breading on it all you could see was green in the bowl. The breading was almost translucent when it’s normally a nice, thick breading that is golden brown. See photos if you’re up for some poor-looking food. Meanwhile, sides were all messed up. Sides not ordered came out. Sides ordered never appeared so she had to bring them out later. This place really needs to step up their game. They’re one of the only places for a large area headed to and from Hershey so they have a lot of traffic they could capture.

I really believe this is one of the few places in the north that makes Country Fried Steak except for maybe military bases! If you enjoy Southern foods I guess this is about as close as you’ll get unless you know of a real Southern Eatery!

The Cracker Barrel brand is gold to me. The biscuit recipe is legendary! I’m amazed at the consistency restaurant to restaurant. I have NEVER been to a poorly run Cracker Barrel restaurant. We had just driven in while on a vacation. We were tired and wanted a place we could count on. So we Unilocaled and found you. The food was good, but the service was slow. We were rarely checked on. The waitress was sweet, but she was distant. When a family comes in with a special needs child, you have to really follow up constantly. The parents will get comfortable and they can very easily comfort the child. It makes a good experience for the family and will keep the atmosphere in the restaurant comfortable for everyone!

Good food, and nice customer service overall. The country store is really cute and fun! I ordered the chicken dumplings and it was amazing!!! Overall, this restaurant is very family friendly, and provides a nice homey feeling.

Really the only thing that we could all agree on is that the biscuits are banging. The meats were over salted and dry.

Went here today for a business lunch. The service was second to none and the food was great. I enjoyed how clean this restaurant was and always like walking around the store. The prices are reasonable for what you get.

We came here just passing through going home to Alexandria, VA(my son who’s 6 and I) and the food was bearable. The has town casserole wasn’t much a very small helping and was burnt. And then the roast need was less than best mostly fat. And the green beans and apples were fine with the meal. It definitely wasn’t good compared to being home in Rochester NY or in Virginia! Very sad to say this wasn’t very good. Waitress was fine though everything else good.

We have been a customer for years. Eaten at Cracker Barrels all over, even been to restaurant number 1, was in the frequent visitor/diner club(no longer available) and even received Christmas presents from HQ. We have gone to Cracker Barrel a lot. But that is changing. Food and service have been on the decline for awhile. We can manage the service by tipping well and requesting someone by name. The food is another story. Food used to be good every time and at every location with very few rare exceptions. Now the food is average at best. The last visit is typical. Ordered the variety plate. The chicken and dumplings was missing chicken, Country ham was OK. The meat loaf was under cooked and for something made from ground meat that is trouble waiting to happen. I ordered turnip greens and got green beans; unknown new waiter. The macaroni was a soupy mess and the biscuits were under baked and stick to the teeth gummy. This has become the norm and is disappointing. Hungry? Try further down the road.

Our experience there didn’t start so well. The hostess wasn’t there, we waited some time and when there was no sign of her we went in and tried to find a table. Well, the hostess found us first and was very rude about us trying to get a table on our own. The food is ok; the highlight was fried okra — it’s really good! Probably worth the trip there just for that. The rest of the food was mediocare; like any other second grade diner.

I’m not gonna lie. I know it’s a national chain of southern-style diner food. It is completely awesome. I don’t know why, and I don’t apologize. I love every hoky, redneck minute of it.

This was my first Cracker Barrel visit. I went for lunch but ordered breakfast. The Country Fried Steak and Gravy was mediocre at best. The service was adequate but our waitress was clearly disinterested. The prices did not belie the quality of the food. Cracker Barrels usually get good reviews so either this was a bad day or a lesser location. Either way I won’t return to this one and will need to be short on options to try a Cracker Barrel again.

Beware. «right off the highway» in local-speak means, exit highway. Turn right. Go, turn left. Go, turn right. Double back upon yourself, turn 160deg, close one eye, go down hill while patting your head and rubbing your tummy. Leave breadcrumbs on your way in to facillitate leaving because«out» takes 5 minutes longer than«in.» Food? Dunno. Got exhausted from the 3 mile trip on backroads to get to a restaraunt that I could have spit on from the highway.

It’s a Cracker Barrel so how bad or good can a place like this really be as it personifies middle of the road chain restaurant dining in America. We were on our way to a concert in Gettysburg and only had an hour to stop when the GPS pointed out that this place was along the way so immediately we knew we had our winner since nothing is cooked to order and everything is pre-done so time wise we were golden. And sure enough from door to door it took 39 minutes. As usual with CB, D for the food but A+ for the speed of service.

I never wake up early on Saturdays. And even less than never do I actually eat breakfast at a restaurant(unless I’ve been awake all night) on a Saturday morning. But, I was kinda roped into heading over to the renaissance faire, so I wanted to make the morning a little more«special.» Every Cracker Barrel looks the same and this store was no exception; relatively clean with rusty metal and black and white photos littering the walls made of wooden fencing. It was very busy this time of morning and they had to clean off a table for us to sit(and then I cleaned the egg off my chair). The server took about 10 minutes to stop by and then apologized and made light of the situation through self-deprecation; this would continue after the 30 – 40 minute wait for food and the 15 minute wait for a check. The food was edible, and served slightly cold on the outside, warm on the inside. No time was spent on preparation and the portions were small. The only thing that saves this from a 1-star is that I’ve been here before and it’s been alright, but seriously, why would I ever go back?

On a recent road trip, hubby and I were hungry and Cracker Barrel’s are always conveniently located right off the main road. I’m a fan of this chain, I love the large country store that has decent prices and I love their vast supply of holiday decorations that are unique, candy from days gone by that you will not find in many other stores and things that one uses daily. They have many clearance sections, which is jam packed with great bargains. I really do like Cracker Barrel’s food, tastes just like it would if you made it from scratch and hey, who makes homemade dumplings like your grandmother did these days? Pinto beans or turnip greens cooked with onions and ham, they peel and mash potatoes, roast their own turkey breast and beef roasts and their meat loaf is awesome, love their mac & cheese, hash brown casserole, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits with sawmill gravy and their boneless fried chicken on Sunday’s is a must. I have lived in areas where they compete to have the best fish and chips, but on Friday’s you will find the best battered cod or haddock at Cracker Barrel. So as you can tell, I am a big fan of Cracker Barrel, however this was the most disappointing experience I have ever had! I saw stars, literally, four gold stars on each and every apron, which means what? Surely it means that they should know how to service customers, but this was the worst service from beginning to end. I needed to use the ladies room while hubby walked the dog and I was greeted by the woman who was stocking the store, however I stood at the hostess stand a good five minutes with this same woman right behind me and the cashier right beside me who was doing nothing. I finally said, are we supposed to seat ourselves and the woman behind me snapped, she’ll be right with you Mam, while the cashier did apologize and called the hostess to the stand who came running out of the kitchen, now mind you this store and restaurant was not at all busy! I’m not going to give names on Unilocal, but the hostess was friendly, yet very brief, I am used to them telling me what the specials are and who my server will be, she did neither of these things. Hubby told me what he wanted to eat and we were in a hurry, we sat and he decided to use the men’s room and then I sat some more. A server approached the table after another good five minutes and asked what we wanted to drink, I told him and mentioned that we were in a hurry and ready to order. He announced, well I am not your server and I am just helping him out by getting your drinks. All four star aprons were on board this ship and man they were sinking fast! We got our drinks and waited at least another 5 minutes, so now we are at 15 probably more like 20 minutes inside and still have not placed our order! Our server dropped a check to the table next to us that were sitting with empty dirty dishes piled high in front of them and asked how everything was, they said it was fine, immediately stood up and left and he did not even attempt to clear one dish and they were obviously waiting for their check. He then came to our table, never told us what the specials were, never greeted us and just asked if we were ready to order,(hello, we knew what we wanted before we even came in, is what I wanted to say) we ordered, hubby had a bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns green peppers and onions, I had scrambled eggs with cheese, hash brown casserole, crispy thick slab bacon and biscuits with gravy, oink. Our food came right out once we ordered and was hot and delicious while we watched our server walking past many, many dirty tables with scattered dirty dishes and glasses all over them and walked into the kitchen a good ten times with an empty tray. We ate quickly, because we were starving and in a bit of a hurry and once we were finished eating I stacked all of our plates and empty glasses towards the outside edge of the table and we waited and waited and waited some more for our check while this bumblef**k of a server kept walking out into the dining room with a coffee pot, glanced our way and just walked back into the kitchen with only the pot. Hubby said he was going back outside with the dog and I waited a good five more minutes while sitting and then I finally stood up right beside my table for another five minutes and he glanced my way and did nothing! Finally getting my check and with no apologies or thank you for coming in or even a how in the hell was everything, I went out to pay my bill. I witnessed a manager twice during this hour of frustration, when it took us ten minutes to eat and I never saw him once go to a table to greet them or to see if they were enjoying their Cracker Barrel experience! I left one of the lousiest tips I have ever left, 15% and little did this server know I am a hefty tipper and it killed me to not totally stiff him. If these four star aprons are the cream of the crop then this Cracker Barrel has major issues!

Ah, what can you say? it’s a Cracker Barrel. You’re either a fan or you’re not. I don’t think their food is that great, but I’ll eat a few things on the menu — country fried steak and/or chicken & dumplings. Honestly, I am more of a fan of the adjoining store, with all its nostalgia and classic candy. I never leave without an ample supply of Goo Goo candy. So, 2 stars for the food, but 4 stars for the store, averaging out to a solid 3.
