M & Z Carpets

Recently moved to the area and went to the Jonestown Road location to look for a rug. The person who waited on me, Doug, was lovely at first. Then things took a turn. He made a pretty large math error when calculating the rug size I needed, then argued with me for a solid five minutes when I corrected him. This included stating several times he has been in business for 40 years. It wasn’t until my uncle repeated what I was saying that he said that he made a mistake. He left the room for a moment because a customer came in. He returned to where we were and mentioned that the customer that came in didn’t look like people who usually come in, and that if he left to go back in there and didn’t come back, we would know why. He then complained about it being New Year’s Eve and the guy probably wouldn’t buy anything anyhow. When I went into the showroom area, I looked at the gentleman who was the perceived «threat.» He was not threatening in appearance or behavior at all. When I returned for the rug, Doug was rude to the person who was going to load the rug into the car. The price was decent, and the quality is fine for what I need. That said, the customer service is quite poor. Doug presents himself as unabashedly elitist and dismissive to females. I will not consider shopping there again.

Never again. If they consider selling I would not offer a goodwill premium
They promised a discount for next day purchase, which they did not honor. Mis-​quoted, twice. Made a math mistake and called back a few days later to collect and then denied their promise to discount on next day purchase which I called them on. Finally, they called day and time of delivery to cancel (during a storm, but why not the day before?).
I won’t purchase from M&Z again.

Sadly I can only give this place 2 stars. The customer service here is horrible. The woman we worked with at this particular location was rude and unhelpful. Asking her questions or requesting additional information seemed to really annoy her. She made carpet shopping a very miserable experience for us.

Customer service lacking. Loved the genie sign and promised myself that they’d be my first choice when I needed flooring. Totally disappointed. Maybe they do carpet well but I’ll never know because I’m never going back. They sent us across the river on a special trip to select tile from Conestoga Tile. Came to our house to measure the space. Checked in with us a week later to see if the tile guy (not on their payroll) had contacted us– he hadn’t. That is the last we’ve heard from them.
