Hands down the best seafood in Richmond. This true«Calabash» seafood is a must try if your in the area. Huge portions and service was on point.

This was one of the worst places to eat the seafood was bland had no taste and was very overcooked. And for the price of about $ 100 for 3 people could of gone to red Lobster for a better meal, over half of the plate from all 3 of us had overcooked seafood will not go back and will refer anyone else I know to avoid calabash seafood. As a Chef I am highly insulted that a restaurant would put out such poor quality seafood and service. If I could put it id rate them 0⁄5 stars.

Love the hushpuppies and crab balls and the she crab soup. We will always be fans of the calabash style of cooking and appreciate the casual older style décor of this place. Its like stepping back in time to a better time. Great service.

Hands down, this was the worst meal I have had EVER! Service was good, and have no complaints re: staff, but the food was awful! Okay, the house salad was fresh… Tried a companions oysters(fried) and they were pretty good for fried… everything else was frozen and mushy… I think everything was straight from Sysco, including the pre-packaged tarter sauce. Prices high for the quality. Have had better frozen dinners. Have not been to a Captain D’s but think it could take this place easily. DON’T GO!

I have eaten here on several ocassions and always come away fulfiled(literally) and happy that I came. It is an upscale, ‘fish camp’, kind of place. I noticed some of the reviews were older and wanted to mention that they have remolded in the last yr or two, which was a great investment. I also love the salt water fish tanks –very relaxing. My family and I love to come here. The food is delicious, hand prepared(not boxed), and usually served with care and friendliness. The other thing that is really nice, is that the owner’s often make ’rounds’ and speak w/the customers. This is a personal touch that I like! Also, the portions are really large, we always walk away with a box to carry home! I am not sure why others were so negative, maybe because most reviews were written years ago. We have lived here for five years and have enjoyed sitting down to a great ‘family seafood dinner’, on several ocassions, where they make you feel like family from the time the hostess greets you at the door and promptly seats you! The price is mid range, and I am sure it is average for a seafood, however, the portions are so large that my husband and I have begun to split a seaood platter and sometimes still have food left over! The flounder and scallops are excellent, while my husband nearly inhales the homemade lump crab cakes! If you like seafood, this is the local place to try!

Cousins raved about restaurant. Gathering in this spot was about getting together more than food. The hush puppies probably were the best thing. Simply put fried seafood. There’s nothing about it that puts it above other fried seafood joints. The condiments were lacking as well. We got tartar and cocktail but with midscale restaurants I look for house sauces, a little something special. I will not be returning to this restaurant unless my cousins want to get together here again. Interestingly went on a Friday night and it was a nice little crowd. They have a bar that get a good later night crew.

The place was dirty and outdated. The food tasted like it came out of a box. The service was OK. The food was high. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

not too impressive… no matter how you try to explain it.

Food was just okay(lots of fried stuff, pretty big portions), atmosphere was like being in a dark warehouse, service was fine but not great. Given the price, I’d rather eat somewhere else. But they do have decent«senior specials» if you’re over 55(my aunt was somewhat insulted by this) and I’m pretty sure the applesauce was homemade. If you don’t like seafood(then why are you here?) there are a couple of options, such as fried chicken tenders made out of actual whitemeat chicken. There are even one or two dishes on the menu that are broiled or grilled instead of fried!
