Not bad for delivery Mexican food. I was tired of the usual Chinese or pizza delivery so I ordered this from stub hub. The delivery was only 4.50 plus a 5.00 tip which I was willing to pay to not cook or drive anywhere. The food was cold by the time it arrived but I was ok with warming it up. They left out my husbands soft beef taco but I did not call since my daughter did not like her soft chicken taco and he ate that, just add that cost to what I was willing to pay to not cook. The cancun salad was delicious, the soft taco was soggy but the crunchy taco was good. The carnitas were just ok, but they might be better fresh. My son ordered the steak ranchero and we asked for the sauce on the side which they just left out completely. The shrimp quesadilla was good but the enchiladas with green sauce were not great. My pico de gallo that cost 2.35 was what annoyed me the most out of my 80.00 bill, it was about a scoop of pico which was ridiculous!!! Overall if I was going to order from here again I would REALLY have to be in the mood for Mexican food and not in the mood to cook it or drive to pick it up.

If this is what the best carnitas in Richmond look and taste like then the bar must be very low. Came for lunch yesterday with two friends, the place was not busy at all. Ordered the lunch carnitas based on the Unilocal reviews. They were dry, tasteless, lumps of pork from yesterdays leftovers. Blech. The sides on the plate, rice and refried beans, were fine. The tableside guacamole was fresh and tasty. Service was ok if you don’t mind a big scary guy with neck tattoos. Not a place I will return for more.

These guys make it right. On a busy Wednesday night(the night before Thanksgiving), our food was taking WAY too long to get to us. The delivery took about 15 — 20 minutes longer to get to us than the estimate. When it arrived, the delivery guy said to enjoy our next order«on him.» So we called three days later, on a Saturday night! And asked for our free order. And they honoured it! We’ve also eaten here in person and really enjoy the vibe AND the food. And the waiters were delightful. I’m a blue-eyed Canadian, but I’ve also lived in Texas and California; so I actually do kinda know good Mexican food. This stuff is legit. It’s just how you want it — just the right flavours, just the right crunch, just the right kick. These guys make it right. ;-)

Taken there by family. They seemed fairly busy and understaffed. Telltale signs of everyone running around and doing multiple jobs. Server was a bit gruff. Drink refills were a bit infrequent. I ordered a soda that never came. The margarita was just alright. My food came out cold. Not lukewarm, but rather room temperature so it had obviously sat for probably 15 minutes. It tasted okay but nothing special. Who knows if it would have been better if it was hot. When our food was delivered we had no napkins or silverware, so that was another several minutes of waiting. The rest of family said their food was good. I am willing to chalk this up to an off night. However, it isn’t my job to make excuses for them in my review and assume that things are different for no reason.

There have been a few curious reviews when it comes to this restaurant. I don’t quite get them. I’ve been to this restaurant twice within a week and have found the offerings to be very good. On my first visit, I shared freshly made guacamole and had a Bean and cheese quesadilla with sautéed onions, which was very good. On my second trip, I ordered the enchiladas deluxe, which is a beef, cheese, bean, and chicken offering. It was covered with enchilada sauce and it was very good. I really like their hot sauce and I have found the table service to be good. Not sure what the other reviews were displeased with, because none of them match the description of the restaurant I dined at.

We had a group of about 20 people for a birthday party. The cake was good from Ukrops, but Patrons is a poor excuse for Mexican food. If you want great Mexican, go to RICO’s off 360. Patrons is sorta dirty and staff is inattentive. When Mexican dishes come to you when you can touch them, that’s a bad sign. Cold dried up food. Sorry but a waste of $ 50.

Quite a few positive reviews and many people saying how great the service is. We must have been in on an off night. We stopped here on our way to North Carolina. It is conveniently located off 95 which made it an easy decision for us. We walked in and had a number of workers look at us but not acknowledge us. After standing by the host stand for a few minutes we were finally seated. Keep in mind, we visited on a Thursday night after 8:30 pm. Once seated 5 minutes passed by before we had a server acknowledge us and take our drink order. We ordered our drinks and then our food and sat there. 15 minutes after we sat down someone finally brought our chips and salsa. My wife said it best: «no one here gives a s*** about us». Our food came our fairly quickly after the chips. We ordered the Cancun salad and the Chori Pollo. The Chori Pollo was missing the tortillas which were supposed to come with it. They never did make it out. The food was good, but the bad service set the tone to make this a place we wouldn’t visit again. Our server checked on us once during our meal and overall seemed too busy to be personable or even bother with us.

I’ve past this Mexican restaurant so many times and always been interested. I finally had the opportunity to stop by for drinks and had a BLAST! It was very busy on this Friday evening so we sat at the bar. The bartender and wait staff were super friendly and helpful despite the crowd. It was also a fun atmosphere which is not always easy to find in this area of town. There were lots of families there eating so I can’t wait to go back with my kids for a casual dinner. We also watched the manager add the ingredients to one of those machines that dispenses margaritas that I’m always worried about ordering from since I wonder«how much alcohol could they possibly be putting into a machine» but I was very happily surprised. They definitely only use the machines to make a large quantity as he didn’t skimp on ingredients or measurements. We look forward to going back soon!

A lot can change in 6 months. In the 6 months since my last review my lady love and I have been steady regulars to say the least. The Patron has been our #1 hang out spot since June. We go so much that we are recognized by pretty much everyone there. Especially my main man David! The lovely Erin is a wonderful bartender and now it seems The Patron has become our local watering hole. We throw back mug after mug of ice cold Pacifico while devouring platter after platter of THEBESTCARNITAS in ALL of RICHMOND. Fact. I’ve tried the carne asada twice(great flavor but overcooked) and well, I keep going back to the Carnitas. It’s truly world class. I feel like this is one of the best kept secrets in Mechanicsville and I hope it stays that way. I rather enjoy getting seated at the bar without a lot of people. This is a wonderful little gem and I will continue to be a regular for years to come.

I came here for lunch during a lunch break while working across the street during my family medicine rotation. The restaurant itself is quite large, and the service was excellent. I ordered the pork chimichanga, which was not bad, and was a huge portion. The tableside guacamole was not bad either, and used two whole avocados, although I will echo other reviewer’s comments that the guac is quite tart since they use a lot of lime juice. Not bad for Mechanicsville.
