Waffle House

The worst experience ever at a Waffle House. I am an older person and had my 73 year old mom with me. Went in to have breakfast, they weren’t busy so we got a table right away. The music was blasting this god awful music so I asked the manager to cut it down. He didn’t so I asked our waiter. Once we asked our waiter to cut it down the «manager» started yapping in front of all the customers and said «I may be black and have dreadlocks but I didn’t turn it up.» All the customers started starring at us at that point and we felt VERY uncomfortable so we left. Now I don’t expect much when I go to Waffle House but the food is generally good and so is the service. Not at the this one on Sandy Rd. in Mechanicsville! I will never ever ever go back into that place. We ended up going across the street to Ihop and had a great experience. Go to IHop instead… trust me!

It’s Waffle House so nothing fancy, but if you want decent food fast it can’t be beat. Pecan waffles were great as were the eggs. My husband had the cheese grits and biscuit sandwich and was pleased. Service was friendly and fast.

If I could give this location negative numbers I would. This establishment needs undercover boss to visit immediately! Upon pulling into the parking lot I see employees in the front of the building smoking, ok they must be on break or off. The cursing from the employees or friends of the employees was deplorable. I really didn’t know who was working because people in street clothes were in the kitchen and the refrigerator. I heard about baby daddies, «skeeting», and someone needing to pick up their kids. Now on to the cook whose nasty tail kept the same pair of gloves on the entire time he was cooking and touching every other surface under the sun. Even when he walked into what must be the break room, since all the employees are in there talking loudly about assholes and came back and had the nerve to still have on the same gloves! If I ever visit this location again it will be with the department of health.

Love Waffle House! You know what you get when you watch em call it out and cook it. The staff here can’t be beat. Sometimes ya just gotta get greased!

The service was good, the food was what you would expect from a Waffle House. I ordered the All-​Star Special. Everything was A-​OK.

Since I am originally from the South, I am well acquainted with the Waffle House. But it’s been at least a decade since I went. Desperate to get a quick breakfast on the road, we ended up here today because there was an hour wait at IHOP (holiday wknd).
For 11am it was absolutely slammed, and we still ended up waiting 15min for our seat. There were at least 10 unhappy employees manning the kitchen but speed they did not lack.
I won’t delve into the nature of the food too much. Let’s put it this way: quick and greasy. Eggs over easy, toast with more butter than bread, nice thin waffles, crispy and savory bacon, and hashbrowns that offer the promise of crispy brown heaven but only too let you down when the bottoms underneath are undercooked. The coffee plentiful but weak.
Our food was quick the waiters were quick and I quickly ended up with diarrhea. The rest of my party, did not, mercifully.
It’s a dangerous game to play, this Waffle House version of Russian Roulette. Not one for the weak stomach, but a safe gamble for the less grandiose travel budget. I have to admit, not having had this greasy specialty for so long, I did enjoy it, if only fleetingingly, in the moment.

We must have had food here at-​least 4 times for breakfast. Atmosphere: The place is cute. Red and chrome… very old school. There are plenty of tables. Breakfast menu has all the standard items plus a few extras, like the Italian omelette.
Service: EXCELLENT. The lady were constantly refilling coffee cups with a smile. They couldn’t be more willing to get you anything you need. Breakfast came within, oh, 8 or 9 minutes. There were a couple of senior citizens who were waitresses and so adorable!
Food: Although the food was not greasy (yay, happy for that), it was really institutional. The eggs were good (I bet their omelettes are good) but the Waffles were definitely from a mix and nothing to write home about. They should be from scratch and served with real maple syrup, not the high fructose corn syrup I had to endure.
Prices: Pricing is average, I would say. Our bill came to about $ 22 + tip and tax for 4 of us. We all got the Waffle Special: 1 Egg, 1 Waffle, a couple of pieces of bacon and we got the funky hash browns because I knew I wanted to review them!

We’ve been coming to this location for years. I have a favorite waitress Kim, she remembers you & what you normally order. The restaurant tends to get very busy on weekends before noon.

If we are being honest with ourselves there’s really only 2 reasons to every eat at a Waffle House. 1) It’s past midnight and you’re starving 2) It’s still past midnight and you’re starving but the SUN happens to be up.
I was extremely apprehensive about coming here late at night. But, my lady wanted pecan waffles and there was no stopping her. The vibe was rather upbeat. To my right a pair of busted cougars giving me the eye, to the rear a table of future rappers, and along the bar some truckers. I was totally in the Waffle House.
My boo got her pecan waffles and then threw her bacon on there and then drowned it all in syrup. I had a patty melt and it was just what I needed. Waffle House is no fuss comfort food like you would make at home. Only this way you don’t have to clean up. I don’t think we left any food. Our waiter was a cool cat too. The experience was surprisingly pleasant. I was worried being so late at night but it was perfectly fine.

I love the food… But, when the server can’t take your order correctly and gets pissed, because you send it back, its a big ordeal…
I guess that’s what you get for cheap quick fast and delicious food…

Food was really good but the service was absolutely horrible! Our waitress was nice but looked like she didn’t want to be there and didn’t do much and the cook was screaming at all the servers and jumping in their face saying that he wanted to leave because he has stuff to do. How about doing your job?! All the utensils and cups had old food still on them and there was trash all over the floor. I may go to a different waffle house in the future, but never this one again!

I am a fan of Waffles Houses, just not this one.
With blurry eyes and several hours to go before arriving home I needed a WH fix. So I saw the sign from interstate and hit it before I drifted off the road. On a Sunday night at 12:30 AM I did not expect a crowd and this much is true. When I arrived there were only two tables occupied by customers. Several tables had dirty dishes on them and the counter which I usually enjoy setting at was filthy.
I found a table that was cleaned off after discussing with a staff person that most of the tables were dirty. He said they had been busy earlier. I quickly ordered coffee to wake me up and in my sleepy stupor I ordered an «Grand Slam» breakfast. I never even eat at Denny’s, so this was weird. I mean to ask for their «All Star» breakfast.
My coffee came out and tasted like mostly grounds, but caffeine was what I needed it did not have to be good I guess. I was in such a hurry to get the first cup down I did not care. I asked for a refill and it was from the same nasty pot.
My food came out in three waves, eggs and grits, sausage, then finally after a several minute wait the waffle. The food ended up being the highlight and tasted good. Also a highlight was the waiter did ask if I wanted a coffee to go.
This is not a WH that I would go out of my way to visit. The IHOP across the street if open would have been a better choice to try.

Another great experience at a waffle house. The food was good and staff friendly and the bathrooms and overall establishment were clean.

This location is near IH-​295 north and US 360 east.
Stopped in on the way to the nations capital for a quick breakfast bite.
Try the waffles with strawberries, pecans, and chocolate chips on buttermilk waffles. Also try the Texas biscuits and gravy and of course, those «smothered and covered Waffle House hash browns…»
We had great service and reasonable prices and great portion size.
