Spoons is a little hole-in-the-wall shop where you order to go. They’re associated with Capers a couple of doors down where you’re welcome to sit down at the tables in the bar area — it’s a clumsy arrangement but it works, although I would not recommend it to you. The soups are good value and the service(at the Spoons itself) is cheerfully excellent.

I love this place!!! Another example of fresh incredibly tasting food that is also fast! The ingredients are amazing– I love the experimentation with different flavor and how much thought is put into them complimenting each other– very impressive! Try their cookies too– they have some delicious, fresh, and creative varieties– it’s always worth asking! If you are planning a sit down lunch this is probably not the place but if you want to run in and get something quick in the go that is also healthy and delicious this is perfect.

Like this place a lot — very very simple with just a couple of choices, but executed very well. Just a great quick place to grab a cheap lunch downtown and everything is made fresh daily. This is a lunch-counter type place — no seating, just take out. It is like picking up food from your mom’s kitchen! Love that we can get lunch quickly downtown for $ 5. Yesterday we had chicken curry stew with rice, fresh cornbread and broccoli salad for $ 5. Nice!

In Medford for the day, and, based on Unilocal reviews, tried Spoons. It was very good. They had 3 soups and offered samples of each. I tried the chicken curry, bean meatball and crème spinach. All three were very good. I went w the meatball bc it went well w the cornbread. It also came w a very small salad. The cornbread was excellent. Oh yeah, and this was all for five bucks. An easy four stars.

I had been hearing great things about Spoons for over a year but only found the opportunity to go there yesterday. We found the little place with no problem and were pleasantly greeted by happy customers and bright friendly staff. There were three soups to choose from and we got samples of all before making a decision. Let me just way, the soups were delicious! And the rolls filled with cinnamon were an unexpected pleasure! The tiny salad was delish and for dessert, we tried the brownies which had an intriguing and interesting mixture of tastes. Very good! Even the iced tea had a little different taste and I loved it. I totally recommend this restaurant. As others have said, very limited seating but sitting on the stools at the small but immaculate and tastefully arranged little tables was just perfect… just perfect!

I don’t know how I JUST found out about this place! Awesome lunch. I had lunch here yesterday for the first time, and the owner(I assume she was the owner, based on her knowledge of food, ingredients, etc) was so nice, and let me sample anything I wanted before ordering. Everything on the menu sounded(and tasted) incredible. I sampled 2 different soups(one of them vegan) and they both were awesome. I was hungrier than normal, so I ended up ordering a LOADED chicken cordon bleu paked potato. It also came with a side of nosh. All for only $ 5! The food and service is delicious at Spoons, so get there early before it runs out!

Open until 3:30 or till the soup runs out, which it often does. Amazing homemade soups — typically 3 choices available. 7 bucks for a large with side & bread. This little soup shop is off the hook good! No better place in Medford to grab an inexpensive lunch in the winter.

So small and easy to miss, if you don’t know that the best soups in town can be found in the Woolworth building… So much local deliciousness in every bite, no wonder I loved it! Probably Medford’s best kept secret for a wholesome, fresh meal… the spinach soup was a delight, and the cornbread and ginger carrots fresh and crunchy… craving more as I write this… Don’t take my word for it, though… try it for yourself. You get free samples, so you never buy the cat in a bag and Merrie is just the perfect chef, accommodating people with food intolerances as well as people who like to spend their food dollars locally…

Cold weather makes me crave soup and Spoons has the best. She only uses the freshest ingredients and is always super friendly. Whenever i get a craving I check the facebook page for the soups for that day. Although I do not work within walking distance anymore, the fresh baked bread and delish soup makes it worth the drive

I think R.H. was having a bad day to have perceived Merrie as anything close to the«Soup Nazi»! First of all, she would never say«no soup for you!» LOL. This place is wonderful. Super friendly, unique, and affordable downtown lunch spot. Of course there is no menu since the selection of soups is different every day. Today I got to try the Five Cheese soup(I thought this was a typo)… but NO, it wasn’t. It was a bowl of cheesy deliciousness and yet wasn’t too heavy. Loved it! My favorite is the Chicken Curry with lots of yummy goodies on top(raisins, coconut, jasmine rice). I also love that Merrie has added salads to the«menu.» The Fiesta Chicken is great! despite the limited menu, you can always find something that suits your mood and taste buds. R.H. is right about the setting though, you should know that this is a Soup window not a sit-down restaurant. With our lovely Southern Oregon weather, take your soup/salad to lovely Vogel plaza or the new Lithia Commons and dine al fresco! R.H., now that you know what to expect, I hope you give it another try with a fresh attitude… as Merrie says«Welcome to the Window… Soup and so much more is ON!»

While Southward bound from the great white North, I stopped in Medford to check out the downtown area and grab a quick bite to eat. Somehow I wound up in the old Woolworth building where I found this WONDERFUL«hole in the wall», Spoons. A soup kitchen with much more. They have incredibly delicious soups, yummy little things they call pounders and so much more. I really appreciated chatting with the friendly staff and getting the entire«low down» on Medford and all the improvements that have been going on over the years. Next time I’m passing through, I’ll definitely stop for more… even if I’m not hungry.

I went here with my grown son and daughter in the winter. We had heard great things about the soup here and I was eager to try some. I understoond that they had recently had some issues with the health department about how/where the soup was being prepared? I can’t speak to that. But it was different. We entered the Woolworth building ground floor and right in the lobby is this tiny soup kitchen, with a woman behind the counter. My son, asked to see a ‘menu’? Wrong. «We don’t have menus!» Oh, ok, so how do I choose a soup? we asked. «Well, I’ll tell you. We have three soups. One was a root vegetable, one was a parsnip chowder, and not sure what the other was. We were stumped. We asked for a sample which we received. The server/cook person did not give us any more information or suggestions. We finally just made some kind of selection and were grudgingly given our bowls. I felt like an idiot not knowing how cool they were in their hipster locale. We sat a a tiny table in the lobby right where the elevator is,(the only place to eat) and watched tenants and clients and go in and out right in front of me. The soup was good. I can’t say I’d die for it. The hostess was rude and unhelpful and had a attitude. A bit of Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi going on there. So, feel free, try it. Have a better experience than I did. Good luck.
