First, the good. The beer was icy cold. The waiter was pleasant and eager to please. Now, the bad. No a/c on a very hot, sticky day. I ordered chicken enchiladas. The dry filling along with the chicken had no taste, kept crunching down on what I hope we’re bones. The taco salad dressing was so spicy, for a person who likes spicy, it had to be sent back. Sooo disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. Hopefully the food will improve. A suggestion would be to inform diners if a dish is mild, medium or hot spicy. Maybe offer choice of spiceness.

Having been here several times in the course of a year, I’m finding myself more and more impressed by everything Diego’s has to offer, though my tastes are admittedly quite basic as far as Mexican food is concerned. For starters, the Diego’s Nachos are a miracle, as they define the concept of ‘loaded’: with refried beans, chorizo, steak, chicken, guacamole, jalapenos, cheese, and pico de gallo, it’s essentially a full meal for two people. I’m a big fan of steak fajitas, which are admittedly difficult to screw up, but theirs are excellent for a variety of reasons, many of which extend to other menu items. First, they ask how you’d like them cooked, and they were able to accommodate for a rare temperature. Second, they don’t confuse juicy with greasy when it comes to meat preparation. Third, the meat is flavorful, but not overpowering. Fourth, they have no qualms about making substitutions, as their food is all prepared fresh. In addition to an astounding selection of tequila(obvs), the bar has a decent selection of other liquor and beer, and isn’t too pricey. I’m easily tempted by any establishment serving alcohol where the drink menu has a ‘bartender’s choice’ option for a mystery cocktail. I’ve never been displeased with the result. My repeat business, however, is sealed by the fact that I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the staff. They’re unfailingly prompt, courteous, and kind. I once(clumsily) spilled a drink and the bartender replaced it — for free — before I could even approach the counter. I joked with her about it on a repeat visit and she laughed it off, but I noted that she was observant enough to see that I wasn’t even tipsy when I spilled it — it was just a stupid accident, and she was happy to give me a replacement. That, in my view, is an example of perfect service.

Just made my fourth and final visit — the quality of the experience, never great, keeps going down. In fairness, my family is probably not their target demographic. Diego’s is a good place for 20-somethings to drink and eat some light fare(though my 20-somethings did have Margaritas, their #1 priority was a good meal). If you’re looking for decent«American» Mexican food and don’t need a bar scene or atmosphere, Dos Gringos is only a block away. They only had outside seating in a cold wind at the time we visited, though, so that’s how we wound up at Diego’s. Our nachos were good, though it was hard to find the cheese. The free chips and salsa(conventional and salsa verde) were good. Then, as usual, the meal headed downhill. Our three tacos were underfilled, underseasoned, and the tortillas were of poor quality. We had a total of nine tacos, and there was enough cilantro on all nine to season 1⁄32 of a taco. Onions were better — there were enough to fill 1⁄8 of a taco between the nine. I knew better than to try the $ 19 fajitas due to prior experience. The service ranges from acceptable to unsatisfactory. We had the latter yesterday. Our(friendly and polite) server didn’t come over to check on us one time, though we did manage to tackle her once to get a water refill. We did see her talking on her cell for a while, though. We had to have the busboy find her to get the check — it took him five minutes, and we saw him looking everywhere. The busboy brought us our food, and checked on us three times. I thanked him on the way out and told him that he was the best part of our meal. That wasn’t an exaggeration. The place is always crowded, so I guess they give the people what they want. Good food and service are obviously not the attraction, though. Four times is enough — we’re done.

I enjoy the atmosphere but the food lacks consistency. Empanadas are amongst my favorite foods so I’ve ordered them a few times snd each time they seem different. I’m all for variety but if this is not the kind I look for!

It’s an okay place if you don’t mind bland Mexican food. Margarita are good. Happy hour seems to be the best bet for eating at Diego’s.

Ripped off! $ 17 for a double tequila! No warning, no mention of cost. Chips and salsa sucks… very salty. We will not be back

Food was average nothing to write home about. Was a little disappointed the back dining room was kind of empty and I made reservations earlier in the day, when we got there we were seated across from the kitchen. Dealt with it but was not happy. It felt like I was at a take out place, very disappointing. Crossing this place off my list, been to other Mexican restaurants in media where the food was just as good if not better.

5th chance, Diegos. Went at 5:15, was told to sit wherever. 10 minutes for server who said hi, I’ll get water. … Chips served with FROZEN salsa… Gross. Ordered drinks, margarita took 11 minutes. It was good, but waitress left and didn’t come back For what seemed forever. Took almost 30 minutes for meals to be served. Ordered Chile Rellenos. Cold rice. Cold beans. Gross. Never again. Never ever again. Food awful!!! Ordered second margarita as entrée was inedible, took 20 minutes and was totally different from first, and not in a good way. Table dirty, walls splattered with grease. Nasty. Staff had a complete«who cares» attitude. I can spend $ 78 on a much better meal somewhere else! Ugh! AWFUL

I’m not sure if I have a lot to say about Diego’s. We stopped at this cute Cantina for dinner before our paint date. — Smiley waitress. — Oily and heavy Queso Fundido, i. e: melted Mexican cheese dip. — Good Tacos, as per Tom H. — Refreshing and calming Mojito. Three Unilocal

We ended up here during a Sunday afternoon. The service was quick, they put chips out with salsa. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was hot, tasted fresh and the margaritas were ok. Service was good and fast, considering it was a busy weekend.

The food is okay. Hands down the best thing about Diego’s are the margaritas… try the jalapeño!

I went during lunch time on a Saturday. There was only me and another person in here. The bartender was very friendly. The service was pretty fast. I only ordered a Cesar salad and sat in here for about 20 minutes so I can’t really judge this place as much as I would like to. Paying for parking on the street was very cheap. Tip: Parking is free on Sundays.

For whatever reason everything seemed way better at Diego’s during Margarita weekend. The $ 4 frozen margs didn’t hurt! The special — Shrimp Tempura Tacos with Mango Salsa were great($ 15 for 3) and the queso fundito is basic but tasty. Chips & Salsa and service with a smile were constant and we had a great night — even if the place was«ear-splittingly» loud.

Four stars for the seasoned pork tacos, 2 stars for the service and mixed drinks. I came in with a group of five and we were seated almost immediately which was nice. After that however the service really started to slow down. We ordered our food(i got the pork tacos topped with onion and cilantro) and drinks(margaritas) around 7:30, but it took a solid half an hour for it to be ready. Despite the slow-ish service, I thought the tacos were really delicious although it could have used some sour crème and/or avocado. They give you three tacos for about $ 12, so it’s a bit pricy. Didn’t care too much for the margaritas as they had that chemical taste some margaritas mixes have. They were alright at best imo and that’s kind of my overall impression of this place, average at best.

Ok, let me start by saying this is only a «half» review, since we only went for drinks, not food, so I can only speak about my experience at the bar. We had reservations at another place and decided to stop here first for some cocktails. This place is VERY casual. The bar reminds me of a college bar we used to go to in art school. Their specialty cocktail menu was limited. My husband had a beer, I had a Blackberry Basil Margarita. It was good, but VERY sweet. For round two, my husband had a beer and absolutely nothing looked good on their cocktail menu. I decided to get a second Blackberry Basil margarita. This one tasted COMPLETELY different then the first one… very strong, with a medicinal taste. Same bartender made both drinks, but I guess there’s no real recipe. The two rounds of drinks cost us $ 40, which seemed high for the quality of drinks and the atmosphere. Again…we did not eat, so I can’t comment on food.

Visited 9÷26÷2015. My Southwestern Burger which was juicy and luscious but the sweet potato fries were dull and cool. My party of 4 sat at the rear back door because the atmosphere is loud. Because of the noise I’d say it’s not for the normal crowd over 55 but I’ll bet it’s a hoot for the younger crowd. Service crew is friendly and above average.

With a surprisingly robust amount of Mexican food places in Delaware County, Media has a lot to live up to in the highly competitive dining dollars on State Street. For my experience at Diego’s, there were a lot of great things to like about it, but a few key misses kept if from being a five star review. Atmosphere — Directly off of State Street, Diego’s is nestled neatly tucked away up toward the courthouse. The main entrance opens fully in the summer and allows for some al fresco style seating for those wanting to eat outside. Inside, a generous dining area awaited my diner and I as we sat down for dinner. Booths are pretty comfortable with a tacky tabletop, good for keeping food on the table. Our table also was right near a skylight, which was great for the ability to see and enjoy our food. Waitstaff — Our waitress was prompt at bringing us chips and dips, our drink orders, and even our entrees. When my one guest did not like her drink, she happily replaced it with a different kind at no charge. Good personality and able to keep a complicated food order in her head. Pleasant and bringing the check as well. Food — Okay, so we got food and drinks here, and I must say, if we didn’t get drinks, it might have been a better review. We started with some chips which some were over fried a bit and more chewy then crunchy. It did however, come with fresh chunky salsa and salsa verde, both of which made them taste better. For our entrees, I went with the three taco platter, where all three were outstanding(chicken, pork, and tilapia [fish]). All really good, but the upcharge for the lettuce and pico is a bit much? My other diner got a great burrito. Burrito was super meaty and had a great mix of rice, guac, and other stuff. We also split some guacamole with our chips as well, and while good, not really a chunky guac, more of a creamy, smooth texture. Our drinks here were just not good, sorry, can’t really defend these at all. I tried the house Hard Cider, which was watery and pretty bland, no crispness or taste other then sugar. My other diner got the house sangrias, which the watermelon one was awful, really sweet almost sugary, the blueberry one she replaced it with was a bit better, but again, super sweet and had the lower end red wine aftertaste it was used with. Intangibles — Not sure if they have A/C here, but even with the front open, being seated near the back only allowed us to use ceiling fans. On a humid day, it just circulates humid air which makes you more hot. Pretty pricey for two diners($ 50 for 2), but factor in we did get drinks as well. If you’re going, use the lot on Orange Street after 6:00pm for free parking, three tier lot down the block fills up rather quick. Overall — Definitely worth another try here next time, just might skip the alcohol. If you’re going in the summer, be prepared for a bit of heat on a hot day, but for the great food and taste, worth the trip out. Good for lunch or dinner, but if you’re going for drinks, still to things you already know and drink here.

It was Cinco de Mayo and in the spirit of the holiday, my friend and I decided to grab Mexican for lunch. We expected them to be busy for lunch, but they only had one server working… really? We waited about 5 minutes to be seated and our server came over fairly quickly with homemade tortilla chips with red salsa and hotter green salsa. We also ordered margaritas; she got a regular frozen margarita while I got the pomegranate with sugar on the rim. The drinks were definitely on point, but a tad overpriced($ 10) although her frozen one was only $ 6. Even in Old City, I never paid over $ 7 for a drink! It took about 30 minutes after we placed our order to receive our food(2 chicken quesadillas) By the time we received them, we were pretty full from the chips and salsa! The only other thing is that I asked for extra sour cream and got one cup on the side(when it was supposed to come with it anyway) and was charged $ 1 extra. The quesadillas were great, but I feel they were a tad overpriced as well. I may go back some time, but won’t go out of my way to go since we were there for about an hour and a half to get two quesadillas and some drinks! Our server was great though I don’t understand why they only had one on Cinco de Mayo especially when they had a full bar and about 8 tables of people.

Just stopped in to check it out. Surprisingly nice place. Very comfortable. Friendly staff. Well stocked bar with an exceptional variety of tequilas. I ordered their house margarita which I must say was absolutely delicious! Overall, I really like this place and I can’t wait to visit again.

Went here for lunch one Saturday, first they started us off with some chips and salsa. This was some hot salsa that I could not stop eating. I had to keep washing it down with pints of cervaza. I had the 24 hour marinated pork tacos with onions, cilantro and pineapples. They were delicious. The wife had chicken fajitas, they 2 were also good as I sampled one of hers. This place will be perused again as we had a great experience with the service the food and being able to eat outside on their patio. Next time we will try them for dinner.
