I came to the area looking Panda Express, but unfortunately they must have recently closed due to the mall closing soon. Since I was in the mood for Chinese I decided to try the Sun Buffet. I could go into more detail but I don’t need to. The restaurant was large, the staff was accommodating, and the buffet had a lot of options. However the food was awful — the texture and flavor of everything was mushy, rubbery and dull. The best item was the Jello! Do yourself a favor and don’t come.

Well we really loved the Sun Buffet when it first opened a couple of years ago, but sadly, it just isn’t the same anymore. During our last several visits, we’d noticed that there were less and less customers and the food just wasn’t up to par, but last night we decided that was our final time going there. We were 1 of 3 parties in the place — not too good for a Thursday night. The food I had was a bit on the cold side and there wasn’t a whole lot of it — but then again, since they don’t have many customers, why keep everything stocked to the brim? Anyway, here’s the kicker — my husband ate a whole bunch of seafood(thankfully he was the only one that did) — as he always does when we go to the Sun Buffet — but last night was different… Don’t know if it was food poisoning or what, but he woke up around two o’clock this morning throwing up all over the place. He feels perfectly fine now, but that was the deciding factor — no more Sun Buffet for us :(

When we arrived the place was empty. The Buffet was sparse and what food was there was ice cold. Then a group of 30 or more high school age boys came in and ate every last thing on the buffet. This helped a bit because new food had to be put out so when we were lucky enough to get something to eat, it at least was hot. However, they only put out small portions at a time which were in turn eaten by the growing teens. Thankfully, they were nice enough to let us in from time to time to get a plate. Otherwise, we had to stand at the buffet with empty plate in hand waiting for food to be brought out. Won’t be back.

I’ve been to this buffet twice. The first time I came with my parents(after visiting my Aunt in Britton Manor) and I thought this place rocked! It was bustling… and so good and clean that I was extremely eager for my husband to come back with me so we could enjoy it together. Well, that time did come. Unfortunately, it was a whole year later and Sun Buffet was not nearly as good. Some items were just okay, while others I literally had to spit out into a napkin. Also, there were only about four other parties there on a Friday night. I absolutely hate it when I hype something up to others, only for them to not have the same experience that I initially had. It’s really embarrassing! Even if the person you hyped it up to is your husband, that doesn’t help. I can’t have my taste buds being doubted… The sushi and dessert areas were always lacking. Truly, the only edible things on the buffet were items you couldn’t really mess up if you tried(e.g. fried shrimp, imitation seafood, canned veggies, etc). I don’t mind a buffet setting if it’s truly clean, tasty as well as reasonable. Well, this one’s clean, but sadly that’s about all it has going for it nowadays.

I’ve been to this place for the buffet about 5 times and at least once for the takeout. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive; they’ll ask if you need a refill even though you still have a quarter left in the glass! I typically stick to the typical Chinese: wonton soup, sweet and sour chicken, chicken and broccoli and egg rolls but they also have an okay selection of seafood like squid, crayfish, crab and also sushi. My boyfriend also enjoyed their ribs at the hibachi station. The reason I knocked off a star is because if you go at a bad time, the food might not be as fresh. Also, their selection of dessert could be a little better: their«ice cream» are in prepackaged cups. All in all, this is a nice buffet to eat at if you’re reallllyyyyy hungry. Expect to overeat!

It’s important! Remember this number: 6.0. More on that later. It’s been 2 years since I wrote my original review and my fellow Unilocalers seemed to think these folks have gotten better. It’s time for an update. So off I went and showed up at 5:30 on a Saturday night. I knew I was in trouble right away. The parking lot was empty. When I walked in I was the 5th table occupied in this giant restaurant. That’s bad news on a Saturday night! Like my last visit my server and everyone one else that touched me was excellent. Like my last visit everything was neat and clean. Now for the bad news– No egg drop soup and the saddest pot of won-ton soup I’ve ever seen. My favorite chicken & broccoli was cool with wilted sad broccoli. Black Pepper Chicken was tiny pieces that were all coating and no meat to speak of. Something called Hong Kong Steak was unexpectedly excellent. The green beans were cold. I stopped by the carving table a snagged a piece of sausage. It was ice cold. There was something called Coconut Shrimp. It was tiny lumps of batter that I assumed had shrimp inside. It was covered with this bright white sauce. It looked so nasty nobody would touch it. Folks just walked by and wrinkled their noses. Now for the worst part– My check including a soft drink was $ 16.50! That is so wrong! If my fellow Unilocalers told me they started using Victoria’s Secret models as wait staff, I might be persuaded to return. Otherwise I’m done. So what about 6.0? A straight shot down the road and an easy 6.0 miles is Dynasty Hibachi Grill & Buffet. It’s in Springfield almost across the street from Best Buy! It’s a solid three stars, worlds better and less expensive! That’s where I’ll be!

Wanted a quick, inexpensive bite to eat and since I’m new to the area I thought I’d check this place out. Hot foods were decent. I loved the asparagus, but nothing else blew my mind. The sushi… um. well to put it bluntly… it sucked. Way too much rice and just not a good selection overall. The only roll I stuck with was the philly roll and even that was just okay. The avocado was browning. I think this will be the first and last time eating here.

Stopped here after our visit to linvilla. I was dying for Chinese and convince my girlfriend to go to a buffett… So happy we went here. Your typical buffet setup. Everything was fresh and the people were friendly will visit again. Also another great thing was the fact that they were not to busy but yet still had a huge HOT spread out

After a rather long day at work my girlfriend suggested we go out for some Chinese food. Hence how we ended up at Sun Buffet. There is quite a large selection of items that they offer, all the basics. Additionally they have a hibachi station where they will prepare(aka grill fry) limited items that they have designated for said purpose. The quality of the food was rather on the lower end, not the worse I’ve had but definitely not the best. This is NOT a Margaret Kuos. If you have ever had indigestion from going to buffet or any type of Chinese restaurant it’s probably safe to say that you will from here. And no, it was not from eating too much. Just because its a «food trough» doesn’t mean we ate like that. The«fun» really began when we tried to pay and leave. This is where we ran into problems with the staff. The credit card reader was not working which ensued into a 20 minute argument(and unfortunately we did not have cash on hand). The person behind the counter wanted to write down cc information, drivers license information, alternate form of id — sounds like everything you basically need for identity theft. Finally after asking to see a manager(there was none present, or at least none that was going to get involved), she offered to call the manager but then didn’t know the managers number, then finding out the manager would not be present the next day(or ever?). Needless to say this probably started the lovely case of indigestion. So… if your looking for an establishment with rude staff and mediocre food — this is the place for you. Less than 5 minutes away in the Granite Run Mall is Peking, owned by Margaret Kuos. Without a doubt one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to — take the time to go that extra 5 minutes, you won’t be sorry.

Great selection, very nice servers. The even gave us 20%off on a take out order the other night and I did not even ask or have a coupon for that matter.

I am very particular about what I love in buffet, surrounded by alot of Chinese folks who believed that the only worthwhile restaurant is Buffets. To give some perspective, I went to 50 different buffets along the north eastern parts of North America prior to actually going to a real sit down restaurant. So Buffets are where I cut my teeth(and stomach) when it comes to culinary aptitude. Now having said that, Sun Buffet is not as fancy or plentiful as its counterpart in Plymouth Meeting or Franklin Mills. However, this place does have a specifically 2 things for Buffet lovers: 1. It is not as busy, so you can actually get the oysters! 2. It is close by for Delco folks 3. It hits all the right notes in terms of quantity over quality 4. It is cheap I like it better than all the other buffets for those reason above alone!

They keep the food fresh for the most part. A few times we went the rice had been left out too long and was hard. We only went once for dinner(crab legs) and they only put a little bit out at a time. Other than that its great if you go for lunch.

Love this place. my wife and I have probably been to every buffet in a 50 mille radius. Many of the buffets start out good and then slide downhill by holding back the crab legs and treating the clients like they are doing them a favor by being there. Sun Buffet is consistent, ample crab legs, reasonably priced and very polite and accomodating. We highly recommend… Note: the poster that complained about not getting the FREE drink with the coupon(Beverly Hills?) Please stay on the West Coast! If you think it is appropriate to just walk into a business establishment to get something free, that makes you a BAD consumer.

Yeah, I like this place because it’s convenient and a cheap way to feed the kids a semi-healthy meal. Where else can you feed your tweens crab legs, shrimp cocktail, steamed rice, salad, or even a vegetable stir fry for under $ 10. Ok, maybe they don’t have as much variety as other buffets, but it is super clean and the price is right compared with going to lots of other places.

This place has positive things going for it. Let’s face it. You’re going to a buffet because you’re strapping the feed bag on and you just don’t care in the first place. Or you have a coupon. In my case, both of these things applied. This place is one of the bigger buffets in the area. You won’t complain about the selection. I did not try every dish here, so your experience may vary. I will say the Hibachi chicken and the Seafood Delight were both decent. The hibachi station itself was a nice touch and put out a decent meal in its own right. The sushi may not be gourmet, but it was more than edible. A sampling of the appetizer section found them to be average at best though. And unless you want to remind me of the three days I once spent eating hospital food, the ice cream cups in the 4 ounce styrofoam containers have to go. Really, if you’re going to charge $ 13.99 for a buffet meal on a weekend and not even include the drinks, then at least give us something better on the dessert bar. A lot of buffets give you some soft serve, or even allow you to scoop your own ice cream with some varying flavors. I do think these owners need to learn some better tricks of the trade. I did not have any trouble redeeming a coupon for the two of us. So previous reviewers who trashed this place because they had coupon issues either went on a bad night, or are really cheap.

Tried this Buffet on opening night which was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. From a Chinese Buffet standpoint, the owners here have done a very impressive job. Atmosphere — As I mentioned, brand new restaurant. Everything was very clean and fresh looking. More of a classy buffet, walls are freshly painted and no ornate or overpowering pictures/cityscapes. Family friendly crowd, and it was about ¾ full the first night. Waitstaff — This is a buffet, so obviously you pick what you want. waitresses were very polite and always bringing fresh water or napkins. Attendants working the stations were clean and sushi chefs were dressed in traditional clothing. Food — This place literally has it all. I counted salad, hot items, hibachi, sushi, fruit, and carving stations at the buffet. You can literally eat anything from a healthy meal to a pig out paradise. Quality of food was very good for a buffet. I tried to get a small sample of a few things. Sesame Chicken was good and had a nice flavor. General Tso’s Chicken had a sneaky heat the came after initial tasting. Ribs on the carving station were very meaty and juicy. You can tell the owners care about food prep. Intangibles — Crab Legs were a part of the buffet, very nice selection, even got a few claws! For $ 14 for a weekend buffet, they had a ton of great selections. This was the type of place that’s so big, I doubt you would have to wait for a table. If you’re making a night of it at the movies, you can dine here and walk right back to the theater afterward. Overall — Best buffet that I’ve found for my money in the area. Food is well prepared and they give you plenty of options. Good for meals on a budget or if you’re not in a cooking mood during the hot summer months. Worth a look to locals and not a bad choice outside of the regular places in the area.
