I only went here for an evaluation after my MD recommended physical therapy for a pesky lower back issue I’m dealing with and had several PT providers to choose from. IMHO this was the worst by far. Granted I only went in for an evaluation visit and not actual PT but was made to wait for 45 minutes before even seeing the person that was to do the evaluation. She was very abrupt with me, hardly allowing me to discuss my issue which was not very clear-cut and needed to be discussed. She rapidly drew conclusions which were very off-base. For instance I told here I had dull, aching pain along the IT band, and she told me I did not have IT Band syndrome(Runner’s Knee), which I already knew. I told her it was NOTIT Band syndrome but rather a dull ache along my IT Band, and she would just not listen to me. This was a huge problem because the pain along my IT band is most likely a result of muscle imbalance of the glutes, caused by reciprocal inhibition, a common issue with people whose job forces them to sit for long periods. Simply put, the glutes stop doing the job they are supposed to do and over a long period of time, the body acclimates to this by altering motor programming. Essentially the glutes become partially deactivated, and then other muscles that were not intended to take the load(the IT Band being the main one) are overworked. This is not theory, it is an accepted fact. She would not even discuss this with me, simply repeating that the pain I was feeling was not IT Band Syndrome. Absolutely ZERO communication between patient and health care provider! She came up with an abrupt diagnosis of Sciatica, which I already knew was NOT the issue since the pain symptoms of Sciatica did not match my symptoms at all, and proceeded to have me take off my shoes and upon pushing down on my right big toe told me I had a very weak response and so concluded that I had a herniated disk! Just like that, a diagnosis of herniated disk based only on pressing my toe down and noting a weak resistance to pushing it up. Now I might very well have a herniated disk but the only way to know for sure would be an MRI. I have no other symptoms that would indicate a herniated disk, and a herniated disc would not explain a lot fo the symptoms I do have but she was too busy allow me to discuss them. In cookie-cutter fashion she said she could help me with a 6 week course of PT, and that’s without doing any other muscle imbalance evaluative test that should be done in cases where symptoms like mine are presented, insisting it was simply a herniated disk. Basically I felt her approach was very unprofessional, rushed, and not at all compassionate. Her diagnostic skills were a joke, and ore to the point, she had no business making a diagnosis like this without an MRI to back it up. In short, it was simply a waste of my time, not only for the consultation, but for the wait to even see her which is very inconsiderate. I mean, I know doctor offices get backed up and there can often be a wait, but my appointment was for 9:15am and the waiting room was already full. For that to happen that early in the day obviously means they intentionally were over-booking at the expense of their clients time, and that is extremely disrespectful, and obviously driven by their bottom-line! There are far better PT providers in Brevard, which I discovered after checking a couple others. The Fact that this place is tied in with Chiropractors and spinal surgery clinic obviously sets up the potential for a conflict of interests. My feeling is that they are simply out for your money! All in all, I would not recommend this place at all
