Wow this place is great. When you walk in its like going back into the sixties. Not that I would remember the sixties, I’m to young. This includes the low prices for awesome food. Its nice to go to a restaurant that is privately owned and not a mega conglomerate chain. THISPLACEISCOOL!

A nice little whole in the wall coney, this is my former boss and I’s spot to grab a quick bite. I must say, the only thing we ever get here is breakfast, and the breakfast they put out is nice. AMBIANCE– this place is tiny, maybe about 12 tables, and a few seats at the bar. It can get pretty tight in there, but even at their busiest, I’ve never had to wait. SERVICE– servers are super friendly, and remember my boss and I whenever we come in. I guess a 6 foot tall Filipino and a 6’8″ Serbian tend to be a memorable duo. MENU– smaller menu than most coneys, mostly focused on breakfast and lunch-ish type offerings. They do have daily specials, and breakfast specials before 11am. FOOD– my former boss and I always do the 3 eggs, all meats and hashbrowns breakfast. Instead of hash browns, they actually do home fries, and they are tasty. It’s hard to mess up breakfast, and thankfully this place never does. OVERALL– dig it. not a first date kind of place, if you’re a lover of breakfast, come and get yours here! CELEBRITYRATING– Chris Farley

Best cheap lunch downriver. Hands down. A double cheeseburger and chili cheese fries for under $ 7. Unbeatable. Cleaner than the other Coney’s owned by this management group and no shootings or robberies here unlike the others.

Mediocre food. Good service. Filthy dining room. Food and debris all over the place. Even the bowls of creamer had dried ketchup on it. Can’t imagine how dirty the kitchen was.

Very clean place. Food is very good, and the prices are very fair. Great place for breakfast and lunch.(Never had dinner there). Waitresses are very friendly and good at their job.

This is one of those archetypal coneys, in good old Melvindale. The selection is decent, and the food comes out quick. The veggie omelet was ok, as were the hash browns. But the grease is a killer. It was so very greasy. Too greasy, unless somehow your belly becomes grease-proofed or is made of teflon. Service was quite good. Credit card minimum is $ 5.

This place makes the best Greek omelete in metro Detroit… eggs are thin, not overdone, stuffed full. Waitresses are great. I come here all the time.

Good traditional breakfast joint in Melvindale. I was just in the area at lunchtime and stopped by looking for another Unilocal first, imagine my surprise that Crag M beat me to it! Hasbrowns were perfect. Scrambled eggs not too well done. Served fast. Cheap! Decent coffee. For $ 6 out the door I just may be back. Don’t get me wrong, this is a shallow end dive local coney, but the food is good. This little section of Melvindale is quickly becoming my favorite downriver area!

They served me and my boyfriend a great big breakfast for only $ 4– 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 1 ham, hash browns and toast – yummy! The service was friendly, the food was hot and delicious and the atmosphere was decent. Not bad for a coney. I’d definitely come here again. Thanks Craig M. for bringing this coney to my attention!

On my last week working in Allen Park, someone walked all over my lunch hour with a meeting that was, dare I say, less than valuable. Starving, I hopped in my car and turned south on Oakwood without anything particular in mind. On a whim I ended at the Melvindale Coney Island and since it didn’t look scary, I thought of a quick lunch and get back to the office for yet more fun. When I opened the menu, I saw in bold letters«Best Breakfast in Town!» Well, Melvindale is a small town… Perhaps that is not such a bold claim… But a Western omelet sounds tasty and at $ 4.65 with hash browns and toast, I’m up for the challenge. As I placed my order, I noticed something interesting. The clientele were all white males well over 60, all with white pony tails and beards and and all wearing camo. And curiously they were all deeply engrossed into whatever Soap Opera ABC offered at 1:30 pm. There was an active debate across booths if «she» should leave«him»… or stick a knife in «his» back. Someone suggested a 9 mm in the ear and I don’t think he was refering to diamonds. So today I learned two things: 1) My Western Omelet was very good and a steal at $ 4.65. This very well could be the best breakfast in many towns. 2) If I need to catch up on my Soap Opera or Michigan Militia news, I know where to go.
