I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. They had some good, home style items on the table.

Really cool interior, friendly service. The crab bisque was delightful. I also had a cup of jambalya which was decent enuff. The kids enjoyed their meals and my wife had the veggie sandwich which she says was pleasant as well.

I had a religious experience here this past weekend during their Sunday brunch. I didn’t have super high expectations going in but holy hell Helen, this brunch is the shit! Beignet offers up a mixture of lunch and breakfast items from 9 – 3 on Sundays for $ 14.95. On this particular occasion it included an omelet making station(complete with the funnest damn omelet chef I’ve ever met), bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, chicken, catfish, grits, fruit salad, cherry cobbler, zucchini and tomatoes(in the most ridiculous sauce to ever hit my lips), some sort of cajun-y stuffing with chicken and veggies in it and a sauce to pour on top, waffles and beignets made to order and bread pudding. Oh the bread freaking pudding. This was the first thing I put in my mouth and I was ready to shove all the other food aside and head right back up there to grab the rest of the damn pan. Never have I had such delicious bread pudding in my life– and from a buffet line no less. I can’t forget the rest of the meal, as it was nothing short of delicious as well. The ingredients for the omelets are all über fresh and its cooked right in front of your face. I opted for spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes and it was scrumptious. Another standout was the zucchini and tomato mixture. Not sure what that sauce was, but I’d go back and order a dish of just those. Can’t forget the biscuits either. Kerry C mentioned they gave Bryant’s a run for their money– I agree. As far as biscuits go, these bad boys kicked some major butt. The staff here was extremely friendly and helpful as well. Always aware when our plates were empty, ready to bring more waffles, beignets or drinks and offer up any suggestions for anything else we might want to try. Beignet Café definitely just became my favorite Sunday brunch spot. I’ll be here often.

I cannot remember the name of the bartender who served us, but he was a really nice guy, originally from California. So, if you’re reading this — thanks for the Midori rec for my lemonade — good combo! My husband enjoyed his Oktoberfest rec, too. It had a really mellow, relaxed vibe, and if you like Marvin Gaye, nothing’s better than hearing it waft through the airy space while you enjoy your dinner and drinks. My husband got a plate of beignets covered in powdered sugar and cherries, which he said were very good. Really nice place — will be back. UPDATE: I received a letter from them today with my license attached. I had been looking all over for it, we’d been a few places between now and then. Just thought that it was really nice of them to take the initiative to do that for me and my forgetful self. Thanks so much!

This little hidden gem is just down the street from the famous Arcade Restaurant. We loved the Arcade, but the wait can be crazy long and your arteries can only take so much. Sunday brunch at the Beignet Café was the perfect Arcade alternative. This place has real charm, great music in the background, and really friendly staff(unlike some of the servers at the Arcade). The brunch was fantastic; I especially loved the omelet station and the catfish. The waffle was light and fluffy, and the beignets were perfect. We will definitely go back whenever we come back to Memphis.

Beignet Café is a taste of New Orleans brought right here to Memphis. The atmosphere and the food bring me back to a place I often wish to escape. My first experience at Beignet Café was not planned. I was walking around the South Main Arts District one day when my sweet tooth came-a-calling. I stopped into Beignet Café for an afternoon treat. I settled for a Café Au Lait and a Beignet Pyramid. Now, let me explain this Beignet Pyramid to you. It’s 3 powdered sugar covered beignets, with cherry pie filling, then topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Holy cow. It was so deliciously sweet I could not eat the whole thing. It was totally worth it. I plan to go back to Beignet Café and have a full sit down meal at some point. I can only imagine their cajun food is just as good as their desserts. Next time I plan to stay a little longer and soak up the Creole atmosphere and enjoy a good poboy. It will also, most likely, be during their Sunday Jazz Brunch.

The Beignet Café is truly middle of the road when it comes to food, service, and price. After trying their Sunday brunch after hearing about it on Unilocal and the fact the pride themselves on New Orleans beignets, I had high hopes. But for the price of buffet food that was either covered in cheese or meat, it is a little overrated. For tourists, it would have nice to been told(or somewhere on their menu) that they only serve beignets and waffles outside of the buffet — instead of having to go ask someone 5 minutes after being seated. The beignets were 4 stars. The coffee was much better than N.O. style. So I really could have survived on that. The fruit bowl/mix for brunch was actually quite amazing, and I had more of that than anything else(for reasons above). I would probably not go back here when I return to Memphis. So really its up to you and if you want to try it!

I was strolling Memphis with my wife and some friends when we came across the Beignet Café. The décor is wonderful, the music was even better. I had a bowel of red beans and rice which was very tasty. My wife had the catfish plate. The servings were more than ample. My wife’s catfish was excellent! I went back this morning with my son and daughter-in-law for coffee and beignets. Wonderful. The service was excellent. Highly recommended.

This review is for the $ 12.95 Sunday brunch buffet, which was a very pleasant surprise given I never even knew this place existed. In short, it was fabulous. I’ve paid twice the price for brunches that weren’t half this good. Fantastic biscuits, giant waffles, tasty(not overly seasoned) grits, thick sausage gravy, plus all the other things you’d expect from a brunch buffet(fruit, bacon, sausage, etc.) Best part: A one-man omelet making station cranking out perfect, fluffy omelets with fresh-to-order ingredients. Order at the buffet, they bring it to the table a few minutes later. Terrific coffee(the au lait was straight-outta-NOLA-good) too, and a full bar with Mimosas and Bloody Marys. Can’t believe I wasn’t aware of this place. No idea about lunch or dinner, but we’ll definitely be back for brunch.

This place was not the slam dunk I was hoping for, but it was a solid meal. My shrimp po-boy was served with a great tasting sauteed shrimp, but I only had about 7 shrimp on my plate. That annoyed me considering the huge hoagie bread my sandwich was served on. The sweet potatoe fries were okay, but I’ve had much better at other places. The food on my lunchmate’s plate’s looked good, so maybe I got the wrong thing. The menu included catfish, shrimp and grits, and other cajun favs, so I’m likely to try this place again. I’m dying to go back and try there cheese grits.

Came during the day for a quick coffee stop. Opened the door to great blues! Have to admit I did a little happy dance when I first looked around… BC has quirky, eclectic décor… exposed brick, ironwork, southern french quarter-inspired furnishings… the only thing missing is a fireplace. Its a place I could imagine click-clacking away on my mac for hours enjoying java and blues. Unfortunately, the java left something to be desired. We ordered cappuccinos and beignets. I thought I was finally going to have a quality java drink in Memphis… no such luck. The beignets were AMAZING, cappuccinos tasted like cigarrettes. ugh. Well, this place serves food and is also a bar at night… so I’ll be back to check it out in its other«lights.» One bad cappuccino couldn’t keep me away from this fantastic little spot.

I’m a regular I suppose… I was on business as usual and stopped through this time with a few business pals. We all ordered different things… One person order a salad, another ordered the Salmon BLT which was highly recommended by the group of folks sitting beside us, another person ordered the beignets which are good all the time, and I had the soup of the day. One person ordered the mac and chesse balls as a starter but it was just ok and not a favorite of mine. I dined here earlier in the week and brought a co-worker with me to try out the place. She ordered the creole catfish dish. The creole catfish had the best sauce I’ve ever had and it was very flavorful! I had the Shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich with chips. The shrimp was well seasoned but something was missing and I think it was type of bread used. I don’t plan to order that one again. I’m going to stick with my favorites but I have a goal to try out everything on the menu! Yea, call me crazy but what else is there to do in Memphis besides eat when on business! lol Thumbs up again and our visiting guest were pleased with dining here and as always the customer service was great!

Another little treasure in the South Main Historic Arts District. Beignet Café is reminiscent of the French Quarter, with its Mardi Gras décor and purple and green splashed throughout the place. And the patio is adorable– very festive and inviting, albeit small. I was so excited to try the beignets, which turned out to be even better than imagined. Paired with an Americano coffee, I had just the right combination of bitter and sweet. The breakfast and lunch menus looked great as well, so I’ll have to make a repeat visit to sample. Service is a bit slow, but won’t keep me from returning.

Take-out review. Our destination was Neely’s Interstate BBQ, on the ride over there we were taken through different paths being that we had 3 versions of iPhones and three dudes insistent on the right course to take. In the corner of my eye I caught an awning which read, «Beignet Café» I read it aloud and shared a childish grin with my cousin. We had the same idea. I pulled up and before I could speak the words«do you think we should grab a few for the road» he was already out of the door and across the street. Father of two, wife in the car with me and other cousins waiting patiently. Eleven minutes later he arrives with three entrée size take out containers filled with piping hot pastry goodness. Beignets made fresh and dusted generously with powdered sugar. Soft, airy pockets inducing delight with every bite. Cost negligent. Powdered smiles all around we continued our journey to our late lunch spot.

Since there are no ½ star rating(that’s I’m aware), I rated this up — I really would have given it 2 ½ stars. The décor is great. As you walk in, you see that they decorated archways with green & purple beads. There’s a sitting area, with comfy chairs and bar stools overlooking main street. The patio area is small & quaint, decorated with potted flowers. Service was much to be desired. Our coffee took ages to arrive and people in our group had to ask for coffee refills. Initially, we went Beignet Café for brunch. The menu was slight. Two breakfast meals to chose from and then the normal array of items that you could order a la cart: biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage, toast, fruit. It wasn’t quite lunch time, but they let us order off the lunch menu, which had a much better selection. The food was amazing, but, again, took ages to arrive. One of our party’s order was wrong. The waiter apologized and said that he would get it corrected *right away.* Thirty minutes later, her *club sandwich* finally arrived, which is unacceptable. When everyone else has their food, correcting an order should be top priority. Oh, the Beignet are delicious! Big, fluffy and sweet! The items that we loved: shrimp & grits, salmon BLT(bacon was crisp/not greasy, salmon was flaky & moist, but the taste didn’t overpower the sandwich). The service at Beignet Café is what tainted our experience of the restaurant. The food and atmosphere are amazing.

Coffee: In true New Orleans style, the coffee served at Beignet Café is chicory coffee. They get it locally from McCarter Coffee. I drank a lot of chicory coffee in college, so this cup totally made me smile. Biscuit: Hey Bryant’s? Watch yourself. Beignet Café’s biscuits were buttery, flaky, and completely amazing. Bacon: The bacon had a decent texture and good smoky flavor, but it was totally greasy. Scrambled Eggs: It kind of freaks me out when I order scrambled eggs and the eggs are all the exact same color yellow. Scrambled eggs should have white parts and yellow parts — if they don’t, they’re over-beaten. These were definitely real eggs with white and yellow parts. My only complaint was that they were a little watery. Yolky is one thing, watery is another. Pancake: Beignet Café didn’t have pancakes, so they’ll be averaged out at 5 points. Grits: The grits had a good texture, a little more like oatmeal and less like couscous floating in water. They need a little seasoning, and definitely eat them before the creepy grits film forms over the top. Service: We seemed to be the only people in the restaurant, so the service was pretty efficient and good. That is, until we were ready to go. Our waitress disappeared and it took a long time to get our check. Atmosphere: Beignet Café is a little dark inside, and it’s very New Orleans. When we got there, they were playing music from a genre best described as High School Marching Band Standards. After a while, they switched to replays of the Saints game. It seems like it would be a cool place to have dinner or lunch, but it can be a little overwhelming at breakfast. Price: The price was reasonable, about $ 13 total for one country breakfast(which fed both my husband and I) and two coffees.

I must admit that I was shocked to see the two stars on the previous reviews. I enjoyed lunch at Beignet Café on yesterday and thought it was good. I got the red beans and rice. It was not a spicy as I like but it was good. I thought that service was great. This place is really cute. You can see all of the effort that was taken to make the customer feel comfortable and welcome. They have comfy sofas and free Wi-Fi. I will be sure to come back when I am back in Memphis.

Beignet Café has a lively atmosphere with«ok» food and below average service. I recently went there for the Jazz brunch. About 20 minutes after ordering I was told they ran out of pork tenderloin. I ended up with the egg, sausage, grits, hash, biscuits and gravy breakfast. None of it had any taste and the sausage wasn’t fully cooked. The waitress was ignoring the inevitability of us eventually leaving. I will say the décor was very cool. Everyone was taking photos there. Beignets = good
