Ching’s Hot Wings

The food was really good but the girl that works the desk and answers the phone is really rude… to the point I’d rather not even eat the food!

I usually love this place, but this time I went. The wings were literally baby sized. The fries were the same size as the wings which is sad tbh. Not sure if this is how it is now but, my previous visits the wings were much bigger.

Tasty wings but a total cluster in terms of service. Shouldn’t let kids (who mostly seemed to be high) run your restaurant. Even some semblance of an operational plan would make this place so much better. As it stands, can’t say I’d ever go back. But the wings ARE good.

When you call in an order, you’re told to give them 35 minutes, AND you still wait! And on top of that, you stand at the window three minutes waiting for them to even acknowledge you to let you know this! After going to the Crumpy’s on highland the last few trips to Nemphis, I thought a Monday night shouldn’t be too bad for this notoriously slow business. I was wrong… Think I’ll head back to Crumpy’s next time!

Placed an ordered and was told 20 minutes, it took about 47 minutes. However, the wings were good. Honey Gold, lemon pepper and seasons wings is what I ordered. Just be prepared to wait, guess I will order 47 minutes in advance for my to go orded. The three stars is for the longer than expected wait, otherwise it would have been 3.5

Yes the wings are great but the girls working at the counter are rude. After waiting for an hour and a half and checking on my meal several times with them telling me my order was «almost ready» every time I finally asked for a refund and was informed my order was never put in. Tammy refunded my order and gave me a voucher for free wings so she was nice, but dealing with any one else is a nightmare!

We hear a lot of hype about this place based both on the reviews we read on Unilocal and some advice from the locals.
When we walked in we were ready for a good meal – the place totally lives up to its hole-​in-​wall, locals-​only reputation.
We kept it simple, ordering wings and fries. The food took a bit longer than we would’ve liked, especially since it didn’t seem very crowded to us. That said it was really good (though a bit cold and in our opinion a bit overpriced).

I’ve been here several times (with 3−4* type results). Not this time. 5 of us came for lunch last week. The 4^th & 5^th person that placed their orders received theirs within 5 minutes. So, the other 3 of us waited, and waited, and waited. 20 minutes. Are you kidding. Finally went up their and the lady behind the counter said Tom? Uh, Yeah. And she had the others ready also.
The flavor was good as normal. However, they would have been better if they had been WARM. Imagine how good they would have been if they were HOT! No telling how long the orders had been ready and were just sitting back there. And, the blue cheese looked and tasted like ranch, OMG, it was ranch. And, the guy in our group that ordered the 10 piece with no fries etc. Received the 8 piece with fries.
Perhaps the 5 people cooking and behind the counter should focus on the people on the OTHER side of the counter, and not themselves. Just a thought.

I went to Ching’s based on reviews I saw on Unilocal.When I walked in the door, the line was wrapped around to the «overflow» dining area. The line was moving pretty quickly, so that wait was not unbearable. I got to the counter to place my order and was told it would be about a 30 minute wait. My order was placed a 2:57pm (according to my receipt). At 3:30, I went to the counter and my food was not ready. I went back to the counter at 3:40 and was told my food was being prepped and would be ready in about 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, I went back to counter to wait for my number to be called. During the time while I was waiting, I had to request to have someone to come out and clean off a table for me and my girlfriend. Once we got our food, it was FAR FROM HOT!!! At best, it was luke warm, and because the temperature in the building was cold… soon so was my food. For me to have waited over an hour to get my food, I would have hoped it would have been steaming hot, to the point that I had to wait for it to cool off so I could eat it. The food was not amazing (to me) like other reviews said. It was OK. I honestly think they would have been better had they been fresh.
I asked for salt, and was handed two «To-​Go» cutlery sets and was told this is all the salt that we have. Someone came from the back to change the channels wearing sweat pants and flip flops… very unprofessional even in that type of establishment. I am sure there were a few things that they got right. Unfortunately, I can’t think of any right now aside from the fact that they did get my order right. Needless to say, I have not plans on returning any time soon. I would have been happier going to Church’s up the street.

I am obsessed with this place, for real. I’m not a huge chicken person in general, but I have cravings for the chicken tenders with the honey gold sauce. The honey gold sauce, by the way, lives. up. to. its. NAME. it is so good!!! The punches are all really good too, and they have one kind for everyone — the Orange Mound is like tangy orange KoolAid, the G-​Street is really sweet fruit punch (my personal fave), and the blue is pretty much Blue Hawaiian KoolAid, right in the middle. I would recommend Chings in a heartbeat if you even remotely like great wings.

The food here is soooooo good … Just call ahead before you come if not you will be waiting forever. Not my sit down type of place just grab and go. I learned the hard way I was fighting off flies the entire time :/

It’s been a while since I ate here… that says enough right? lol Okay, in all seriousness from what I can remember, their best attribute is their sauce. The buck stops there. If I’m completely honest Memphis best wings, a little bit further down the street from there (you still have time to change your mind and head to MBW, lol j/​k enjoy your wings) MBW does have great lunch specials tho… okay, okay, order your food and judge for yourself. I digress…
Do you know that I love spicy? Well if I haven’t told you now you know I do… that’s what made this place great because their sauce brought me to tears… but their chicken made me cry in a whole different way. Have you ever gotten that piece of fried chicken and it was like chewing on tree bark, yep that was my experience. Now, all of my pieces weren’t horrible, but who wants to pay for even a portion of their meal to be like that, no one I say, no one! Also they were a little pricey for their skimpy, barky, suicide wings. MBW… all the way. Have a great day :-)

I want to bathe in the honey gold sauce!!! Seriously, these are the best wings that I have had in Memphis. The spot is cool, sporty and welcoming. The staff is friendly and efficient. The wings are juicy and a nice size for hot wings. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. But if you never try another wing, you must try Ching’s honey gold.

Great wings and even better service! Had the Hot Honey wings. Outstanding. Best seasoned fries of the places in Memphis we’ve tried. Loved the pictures all over the wall of the teams and players who’ve been in the establishment.

I’m very picky when it comes to hot wings. Refuse to eat at the chain restaurants, which I call McDonald’s of wings. I’m glad I found this gem. On par with the best wings I have ever eaten.
Thanks to the waitress I didn’t order coke, my usual, with my meal. She convinced me to drink lemonade, and I opted for the blue one. She was right, it was a great combo for their wings.

Honesty exceeded my expectations. Just needed a little more focus on customer service and it would be a huge hit. Great food. Decent prices. Good atmosphere.

Great wings and fries! It’s not located in the best area but it is a very culturally diverse atmosphere inside. Lots of college students. Great food and plenty of huge TV’s playing sports!

Finger licking good if you’re in Memphis make sure come to Chings their wings are the «BOMB»

Always good wings! I love their Honey Gold Wings. I also like their Lemon Pepper Wings! If you get a choice, I suggest going for the Whole Wings instead of Party Wings. Also, make sure you call ahead, as this place is almost always busy!
If you decide to eat inside, marvel at all their extra large big screen LCDs that have all matter of sports playing. This time I went in, they had ESPN, NBA TV, and some sports themed channels.
By far one of the best places to get wings in Memphis!

These are probably the best wings I’ve ever eaten. I challenge someone to tell me where I can get better wings in the Memphis area, because that’s saying a lot!
This place is more spacious and vibrant than it looks from the outside. There are pictures of loyal customers all over the place, and there are tons of TVs everywhere.
The only thing missing from this place is beer!
