Maybe a little harsh with only three stars, especially since this place is GREAT! A gem in midtown, a great place to buy gifts, home stuff and art. But word of warning, the opening time posted on the front door is not important to the owner, which to me shows disrespect and lack of caring, so don’t go right when they are supposedly going to open. Of the four times I’ve been there, he’s opened late three of them, leaving customers waiting on the porch or in their cars until he feels like opening. Small town charm, everyone’s a friend/neighbor, laid-backness, I don’t know, but I was nothing but irritated. Sorry, just saying’. But again, if you go later and he’s accepting customers, I love the place..

I’ve been in many times and have always found either piece of furniture or a smaller gift item before an event. There really is so much to choose from for most budgets. The furniture is generally mid-century and well designed. To say the least, the store is beautiful! The owner is only more than happy to show you your options, swatches, history of a piece. Speaking of the owner, don’t be afraid to ask about his gorgeous artwork! He is a talented man and from the pieces I’ve seen, he specializes in metals it seems. The furniture may seem a bit much, but when compared online, it’s actually quite competitive. It can also be customized depending on what you get. There are smaller items as well. They make very tasteful gifts.

Pee Wee’s Playhouse was my favorite show as a child. Yes, I own the DVD box sets of every season, and yes I still watch them. Don’t judge. My favorite part of this fabulous television program, was Pee Wee’s decorating sense. What a masterpiece that playhouse was folks! I always wanted a Chairy in my very own living room. Well, when I walked into Cosmic Closet, I realized I could in fact have my very own Chairy! Maybe the normal, every day eye doesn’t catch it. Mine does. These couches, love seats and chairs are freaking A fabulous! Insane geometric lines, rolled arms and plush, fuzzy, bright colored fabrics reside on all these couch creations. I heart them all. In fact, I found the perfect arm chair! All that was missing was a pair of googly eyes and a felt tongue from Michael’s and Chairy would be mine! I don’t know that I would classify this place as «contemporary» as I get a very vintage vibe from the place as well. Think contemporary meets vintage. Most of the items remind me of something you’d find in the hippest 1950s bachelor pad– and I love them all! They have a great selection of lamps, light fixtures, rugs, shelving, canvas art and vases. My favorites? The canvas art pieces that read«Be what you are» and«Why not today» Fabulous. I think if you are decorating with pieces from Cosmic you can go either way– über modern and sophisticated or more of the vintage vibe. Regardless, this place has a fabulous selection and is worth checking out. The prices are kind of steep, but everything here is well-made and very unique.

This is the place to go if you’re a fan of exclusively ultra-modern home décor, or if you just have an eye for clean or unique lines and shapes and bold color, this store will appeal to you. I was drawn to the light fixtures and lamps. Some tall, some curvy and ball-shaped that would add a conversation piece to a room. Also spotted were neat bar stools and a sharp, minimalist sofa that would look good in a loft. If you’re looking to furnish a new place or just want to window shop, it’s a great place to stop in.

I went into Cosmic Closet because I recently bought a house and have been looking for some interesting furniture and fixtures. I definitely found interesting stuff. Cosmic Closet carries a lot of nice mid-centrury modern furniture, some great light fixtures, décor items and original metal art(by the owner Kec Lecco). The prices seemed reasonable for the quality of the items, but most were a little high for me. Cosmic Closet is located on the first floor of an old house in Midtown. It seems like they do a lot of their business via their online store — there’s a bit more selection there.

Cosmic Closet features contemporary furniture and home decorating stuff. It also carries metal artwork by the owner Ken Lecco. Ken always has interesting stuff in his store, whether it’s lighting fixtures or any other interesting item. There’s always something sure to catch your eye. Prices are pretty reasonable for the unique quality of the merchandise.
