very nice and spicy… lovely South Indian food mainly… feels more like a fast food place than an elegant restaurant but worth a visit. Was pleased to see dosas on the buffet. On the ither hand, their nan will disappoint. Needs more vegetarian main dishes and fewer chicken. Pleasant service if a bit random. Will go back

Curry bowl has started a new dessert called«Gulab Jamun with Cockroaches». You do not have to ask for their specialty, cockroach comes with Gulab Jamun and they do not charge extra.

Curry bowl. Indian style buffet. Really spicy. $ 12.00 with water and tax. Weird customer service. I had such a strange experience here being accosted by a server telling me that I wasn’t allowed to sit at the table I chose. I walked in, sniffed the buffet, and went to the men’s room to wash my hands. Came back, loaded up a plate, and sat down at one of the many tables. Before it was that I got nary a mouthful to eat, was this fellow bending over my table using his very best Indian accent«sir, sir, I’m so sorry, so sorry.» No, I don’t need anything, leave me alone and get me some water. «Sir, sir, so sorry. You can’t sit at this table. You have to sit there.» The place is about 1⁄3 occupied and it’s the middle of lunchtime and I sat at a table with 4 chairs. There were at least a dozen of these size tables available the entire time I stayed. This is the reason you have 3 stars. When he told me to move, I just about headed for the door. That’s normally what I would have done. My first bite wasn’t even in my mouth yet, and I wanted it so bad. I carried my plate to the table I had been instructed to sit at, and he made a big deal about the paper placemat being under my plate. It’s like this jerk wouldn’t let me relax and enjoy my lunch. It really did piss me off, but I let it go so I could enjoy this wonderful meal. As far as the food goes, I would have said 5 stars. Buffets are great because if you don’t know what to order, you can get some of everything. That’s what I did. Every single thing. Well no, cause there were 3 soups and I didn’t eat them. Everything was spicy, and that’s what I love. My wife wouldn’t like it though. The buffet is heated, but I wished I could put my plate in the microwave. It was warm for buffet. It was normal. I don’t even know what I ate, but it was good and I’ll give you another try. I’ll sit at a 4 chair table too. Give me crap about it, you might not know what mood I’m in That day.

I love the lunch buffet. The food is yummy, hot, and well-seasoned. Get there early though. It fills up quickly! The waiters are attentive and friendly. I love their mango lassi. Came here for dinner as well and the staff remembered me from my first visit. We had the butter chicken and the tikka masala, both Indian hot with garlic naan. Amazing! Glad I found this place!

I’ve been to several Indian restaurants, this one was a bit of a disappointment. They said some of the staff was new, causing service to be extremely slow. Some people were brought wrong dishes(I was one of them). My meal came out around 30 minutes after the first one, so everyone was basically waiting for me to finish eating before we could leave. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. Not my favorite Indian in Memphis.

Curry Bowl is great! The buffet prices are reasonable and have a wide array of food that most other indian buffets do not offer. They have different types of food, south indian, north indian, indo-chinese. The service is really good. I love their chai! Their regular menu is also well priced. They offer a wide range of Indian chaats. I have not ordered off the regular menu yet but will do so when I go back. Highly recommend for the buffet though!

Ate at Curry Bowl last week for the second time in a year. I really like the place. Since my last first visit they repainted the place and dressed it up a bit. It’s still simple décor but now much brighter and cleaner. The staff is fantastic. I’ve got some experience with Indian food but not a lot. What I really appreciated about this place is they really help you pair foods together to achieve the best flavor and texture combinations. The food is quite good for Indian in Memphis. It’s mostly from southern regions of the country with a northern dishes mixed in that I tend to prefer. The buffet is the way to go if you want to sample lots of things. It’s all very fresh and delicious. I just wish they would crank up the food temps just a bit. Definitely worth checking out

The Indian buffet of my dreams – rich tikka and butter sauces, healthy vegetable curries, even some Indian-Chinese fusion.(Manchurian cauliflower, please.) I’ll be back as soon as I’m home for the holidays!

At first, I was a little nervous about going into this place. It literally looks like a hole in the wall, however once inside, there is a lot of space. They have pretty good spread of food and I heard that it changes daily. Everything I tried was flavorful but some things were a little bit on the spicy side(yes, I am a wuss). Their Butter Chicken is the best I have tasted(so far) in the city. It was so smooth. I wish I just ordered that instead. Nothing I tried was bad. So I am looking forward to returning and trying some additional items.

I love Indian food. This place was just ok to me. The service was weak. I felt like that only wanted us to eat off the buffet rather than order menu items. 3 of us got the buffet. I couldnt decide between the buffet or a menu item, but I got tired of waiting, so I went with the buffet. One in our party decided to track down the waiter since he never came back. It was early on a Friday, so there werent’ many people there yet, which meant the buffet food didn’t get refreshed. The naan was terrible because it had been sitting out so long. However the cashew paneer was to die for. There was also a dish made of cauliflower that was delish. I would go back and order off the menu, and I’d bet my rating would change. The friend who ordered off the menu… her naan looked perfect.

Hmmmm. I love this place. I just do. Which is bad, because I’m trying to be on a diet. First time I came here was on a Friday night, so we ordered from the menu. We had a sort of platter than included different kinds of curry and lamp, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We also got a plate of a pancake-looking dish(the name is beyond me) filled with potatoes. This was a very traditional plate that I had never seen before, and it was strange enough that the waiters(there were 2 or 3 through the meal) had to explain to us how to eat it. It was very good, and totally unique. My second time I went for the buffet, which is really popular. The price is a tad high, but you get plenty of food choices and most of it is good and different. Almost makes me feel adventurous. I visited another time and the buffet choices had changed, so obviously they change it up a bit. Service has never been a problem, but be aware: they don’t serve ice with your water, which is something to think about if your are an ice chewer like me. Sorry, I’m weird. The place itself is nothing fancy, but if you come to a place like this to eat authentic quality food, not to look at the walls.

Considering the reviews, my expectations were relatively high. My boyfriend and I came with empty stomachs and craving some good Indian food. Unfortunately, this just didn’t do it for either of us. Some of the dishes at the buffet were okay, but nothing special. Other dishes just tasted bad. Many things weren’t very hot and the salad bar did not look particularly fresh. The service was probably the worst part for us. Our waiter was unfriendly – he hardly said two words to us. I’d maybe go again if I was in the area and getting take out butter chicken. Aside from that, I’ve definitely had better Indian food in Memphis.

I am into good Indian food, and these guys have got it in spades. The choices are plentiful and some very authentic fresh dishes. You will most often see Indian families and others from the region, that’s always a good indicator for me, because they know their tastes better than I do. Also glad to see that the staff from top to bottom are regional to the cuisine. Friday night dinner, buffet now on Fri, Sat & Sun 5 –9pm. I am her at 4:59pm and everything is so hot, fresh and delicious! All around this is a very good, pleasant, fresh, comfortable and affordable place any time.

What a great place! By far I should say this is the best Indian restaurant we have been to in Memphis. The food is really great, tastes authentic and home made, the staff is always welcoming and the restaurant has a decent ambience than what I thought. The first time I have been to this place was to pick something that I ordered over the phone, the place didn’t seem to be so great. However we have been here again just to be sure and to our surprise the buffet that day was too good and we ended up visiting this place few times. The rates are little expensive but in my opinion it is worth the food they serve. Over all the TO-GO Indian restaurant around Memphis!

Really good food, large varied menu. I knew what some stuff was on the menu and there were some new things to me. There was lots of stuff to try. Started with an old favorite, samosas. Then we split a Cutlet Ragad Dosa. PD had shrimp masala and I had goat curry. We both ordered it medium, she found it a bit hot, I found it a bit mild. Mango juice was nice and fresh. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Gave us plenty of time to figure out what we wanted and answered all of our questions. Ambiance is not fancy, but clean and adequate. TV mostly tuned to Bollywood song and dance, but other stuff as well. It is not in a great neighborhood unfortunately.

Great. Sizzling. Fresh. No holds barred spicy Indian food. This place is great w great prices for the amount and quality you get in addition to the friendly service. I ordered the tandoori chicken(half order) which came with 5 legs and a breast. That’s right, the HALF order. The chicken was as fresh as can be and spicy enough to where u could probably smell the roses back in Texas after the heat! Don’t forget the garlic naan!

I’m an out of towner who was staying at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Germantown when I was searching for local restaurants to eat dinner at. I am very glad that I found this place. If you are looking for a fancy place this is not it. If you are looking for an exceptional meal and attentive service then you have to come here. Let me start by saying that I’m from Dallas. It’s a big city filled with an obscene amount of restaurants. My mother and I would have Indian food once a week for years. I’m not a newbie to it. Curry Bowl does it right. Their menu is extremely large which usually is not a good sign but not an issue here. I have only praise for what I ordered. I started off by ordered the Papad and also the mint and tamarind chutney. The Papad was exactly as it should have been, thin, crispy and full of flavor. The chutneys both had excellent flavour and the right consistency. I then ordered their house speciality the Currybowl Tandoori Platter. The server asked how spicy I would like it and I said on the high end of medium. That is what it was. Folks, spicy in Indian terms means flamin hot. Be mindful of that. If you can’t take heat tell them mild. I was dining alone and the service was super attentive. They were always around in a good way. Very very nice people.
