Favorite place to get a burger in Memphis. There’s a burger for everyone’s taste. Favorite side is their home made onion rings and in house ranch dipping sauce. The grilled pineapple chicken skewers are top notch for chicken lovers. Reasonable pricing on all food and beverages. Fun atmosphere. Live music sometimes.

I’ve eaten at every Huey’s in the Shelby County area, and also at the one in Southaven. I have always had good food, and their burgers are top notch. My favorite time to go is on Sunday evenings, when all the Huey’s have live music, with a different band each week.
A good way to pass the time, while waiting for your food, is to blow toothpicks at the ceiling through the straws. You simply have to ask your server for some extra straws and toothpicks, and tell her that’s what you want to do. In fact, I don’t think anyone should be allowed to eat at Hueys until they’ve at least successfully implanted a toothpick in the ceiling through a straw!

The Bluff City Burger is delicious! It is a quarter pound burger with delicious cheddar cheese, bacon, onion rings, BBQ sauce, pickles, and shredded lettuce. It isn’t my favorite burger, but it hit the spot tonight!

I recently went back to Huey’s Poplar location when visiting my sister over Thanksgiving. I had the chicken strips and my wife had a burger. Our opinion has improved over last year and I can say that I would recommend it.

I actually really liked this location. I will admit on a Friday night it was really busy however, me and a friend were seated promptly. The service was also really good. Our waiter was very attentive and the food came out quickly. I just love their steak fries and onion rings lol All in all, good service and good food. I was a happy customer!

Enjoyed a day at the zoo with my mother, son, and grandson, and went to have an early dinner at Huey’s. The restaurant is extremely crowded and there are too many tables. I ordered the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. The burger was tasty and seasoned well, but the bottom bun was so soggy that it was almost impossible to hold it, even holding the burger upside down. The wait staff is very friendly and checked on us often. Not my favorite burger restaurant!

We gave Huey’s a second chance, and we were glad we did.
Our second trip to Huey’s was no disappointment in the slightest. I ordered the «Famous Burger». The burger was much better, cooked medium, juicy, and flavorful. The lettuce was chopped (not my favorite), but the rest of the toppings were very good. Onion rings were huge and on point.
Shortly after my previous review, I was contacted by management and they were concerned about my experience. They exhibited sincere concern for their customers and desired for me to give them another chance to make it up. So I would give an extra star just for amazing customer service and attention.
We will return to Huey’s as it is a Memphis staple and now one of our good restaurant experiences!

Looking for some pub grub, we decided to give Huey’s on Poplar a try. We were glad we did. The wait staff was helpful and courteous. The beer selection was very good, both bottled and draft. We noted the large selection of burgers. Additionally, there are monthly speciality burgers and other items. We enjoyed the our burger choices — they were juicy and cooked just the way we ordered them. Huey’s is a good choice if you’re looking for pub food.

Burgers were dry, buns soggy and bacon over cooked to the point it made my sister bleed in her own mouth. Not only that food took forever to come out. Waited 45 mins for disappointment… Smh

Burgers are really good but a little pricy with fries but I enjoyed my meal. Onion strings were perfect! Waitress was ok, only came back to check on us once when the restaurant wasn’t busy. Overall the experience was pretty good.

Hueys is such a great place because, even though there are multiple locations they have not gone to a lame pre-​made generic burger like so many «multi-​local/​chains» do (ie Mugshots)
It’s a dive. They are all dives.
They let you shoot toothpicks into the ceiling.
The beer is cold and the «game» is always on.
I always get a burger. It’s a good burger. 4 out of 5 burger every time. I rate this place 5 of 5 because of all of the above.

We have started eating here fairly often since my wife, who is a vegan, discovered their veggie burger.
I normally like the Little miners «trio» or the southern chicken miners (miners = slider style), but have recently switched to their veggie burger to try to eat healthier.
If you’re vegan, vegetarian, or meat eater, the first time you try the veggie burger you will question if it truly is vegan/​vegetarian. It really is that good. They also have the option of a black bean burger but the «veggie» burger is my favorite. and of course, what’s better with a burger then a side of steak fries.
This visit was on a Friday night at 7pm. It was very busy, but you’ll have better luck and get seated quicker if you are only a party of two. Parties of three or more after about 6 PM might have a bit of a wait! But, they do seem to turn the tables over pretty quickly. Finally, the servers are usually pretty courteous and prompt.

left the movies late & wanted to grab a bite i eat. huey’s was in a convenient central location. I was so impressed with the atmosphere, it was so laid back & casual. We sat ourselves in a corner booth so we could get a good look at everything on the walls! Our server was swamped, seemed like she may have been the only one on the floor, but no worries, she was so nice & did a great job recommending some of her favorite items on the menu. I got the chicken philly, and my bf got the chicken tenders platter. We enjoyed both! We will definitely return soon!

Went here last night for a late meeting. Had dinner and a pitcher of beer. Everything was perfect! Walked in on Friday night, no wait. Got greeted by a very nice server Erin who got me water and drinks. Had another server named Erin as well take over from there. Food was fast. Couldn’t ask for better service! Derek, the manager, stopped by as well to mAke sure everything was great.
5 stars!

Was in town visiting and one of my friends who lives here highly recommended this place. Claiming the best burgers ever.
Sadly not the case. It’s more of a pub hangout. I mean the burgers did not suck but I’ve had better. It was very busy the night we went (Thursday night).
The food itself was good proportion for the value. I didn’t even finish the fries. I would go back but I’m kicking my friend for saying this is the best burger he’s had.

If you follow any of my reviews, then you know I may use the term «go-​to» or «favorite» quite loosely. But there’s no doubt that Huey’s is my «favorite go-​to» spot.
This East Memphis location is probably my favorite because it’s close to me and it’s large. So it’s often not very crowded.
I typically order the Huey Burger or the Chicken Philly with sweet potato fries. And you have to dip the sweet potato fries in the chipotle ranch.
Good service. Good beer selection. And consistent.

My go-​to Huey’s (except for on Sunday nights where you can’t hear yourself think because some dude is banging on a drum set three feet from your table).
Aye here on a Monday night, and don’t think I’ve ever had service so quick and efficient. Definitely impressed.
As for the food, just as good as always. I had the artichoke dip and a Huey Burger. Thumbs up to both. Special shoutout for getting that burger cooked medium perfectly.

Love their veggie burgers so much. Best ones I’ve had in memphis. Only problem is whenever they have live music, which is often, it’s so incredibly loud that it hurts the ears! My waitress couldn’t hear a word I was saying, I couldn’t hear her. She didn’t hear me say I was ready for my order, and she thought I said I needed more time. So even though I was starving and dying for that burger, I had to wait another 10 mins for her to come back. I also couldn’t talk to my friends. I usually love live music at a restaurant, but not when it’s so god damn loud! One friend vowed never to come back because of it. So please just turn it down to a reasonable volume for that tiny space, and all would be perfect!

Been eating here for years and so had to have a good burger while visiting for the Holidays. Took my Mom here for the first time. Always good and always cheap which is rare and great. Service was excellent! It was a busy Friday holiday night but they got us in and out quickly!

Surprise, surprise another burger review!
The thing that impresses me with Huey’s is that they are all the same. You can be in any Huey’s throughout the city and feel like you are in the original restaurant on Madison (and that’s a good thing).
Full bar, good burger, and kitschy atmosphere with the toothpicks in the ceiling and writing on the walls. It is Memphis through and through, which is why I love this tradition.
Oh, and I REALLY like their potato soup. Like a lot.
