Ice Cream Plus

It seems that Memphis is a shave ice desert. As hot and humid as it is here shave ice is a market that is waiting to explode. As far as I knew there was one player… Jerry’s. There should be dozens of them here. But guess what? There is another one I discovered today. Ice Cream Plus. Sure, it’s in the hood but it’s drive through only so you can’t get out of your car anyway. I gave this place only 3 stars because my experience is very limited. I will adjust my rating after another visit or two when I have a chance to try out other offerings. They serve BBQ nachos, Ice Cream and a number of other things but I came for a Shave Ice. I pulled to the window and placed my order with the nicest older man who was wearing an old soda jerk outfit that you could have ever asked for. I presume he was the owner as he was the most appreciative person I’ve met in a long time. I ordered a medium grape and lime and it was a good, standard shave ice. Nothing like the homemade fruit based syrups that I am used to from out west but it was the perfect refresher for a hot day. Even though I ordered the medium he brought me a large but only charged me the medium price. Something like $ 2.50. He also said «I really appreciate you stopping in and I hope to see you again. You business means a lot to me.» This is something you rarely hear or feel from businesses around Memphis. So please stop in this place, try it out and let me know what you think as well. CA$H only.
