Been to a few places for BBQ here in Memphis, and had to come back here again. Pork robs are excellent, fall of the bone good. Brisket is awesome. Sauce is tangy and a bit sweet, and the bread is the best I’ve had here. The woman who took our order both times was beyond nice. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a go.

Wasn’t too fond of the food here. Tried the 3 meat platter with spaghetti, ribs and catfish. Ribs were overcooked, catfish was over fried, spaghetti was ok, coleslaw didn’t seem like it was homemade, I guess the beans passed. The roll that comes with your order is deep fried. Yikes. Might need to call Robert Irvine here.

Had lunch here and it was pretty good! Great, fast service — especially helping us Yankees with southern eating. Ordered the fish lunch — a great choice! Fish had a great breading and wasn’t a greasy fish fry. Enjoyed the hush puppies as well! Tartar sauce was not very good, but I did enjoy the cole slaw. Would recommend this for a quick and easy meal!

Delicious Nachos! They take BBQ nachos next level by adding tomatoes and onions. Very friendly staff.

I have become quite the regular at Jack’s. I found this place about 8 months ago and have been going at least once or twice a week since then. The atmosphere and staff are great but I go there for the food. Let’s start off with appetizers: the fried cheese sticks with the meaty sauce is to die for, as well as, the DEEPFRIEDBREAD(I doubt I need to go into much detail for you to know how awesome that it). When it comes to the main meal you can never go wrong with the BBQ sandwich. It is hands down the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life. I can’t even go to another BBQ place without feeling that I should have just gone to Jack’s instead. I honestly don’t see how this isn’t viewed as the best BBQ in Memphis because in my opinion nothing else comes close. Go now and you’ll thank me later.

CLOSED. Went to Jack’s for lunch and happened in on the buffet day. Tuesday is the dinner buffet and Wednesday is Lunch buffet day. I really liked my lunch. The staff was nice and kept our drinks filled and the interior has a well worn family place feel(which I like). The buffet had a good assortment of items from ribs, brisket(maybe the best I’ve ever had) pulled pork, beans, etc. The ribs were very well cooked and seemed to be good quality. They were dry and I would say the rub was similar in taste to the Rendezvous’. I will completely be going back! Two buffets and two drinks were $ 25. It seemed fair with the amount of high quality items to choose from.

I have only been for lunch. Great bbq, good flavored sauce. Cheap lunch time prices.

Jack’s has been around since 1982 and I finally made it by for a visit today. Hey, I’ve been busy. Jack’s location on Old Summer Rd. makes it one of those spots that you just forget is there. Heck, there is even a Pancho’s Restaurant hidden in this little cubbyhole of the city that I haven’t seen in years. The restaurant interior is surprisingly quaint given the bare bones storefront. But the food is what counts. Sorry Jack, but I’ve had better. It probably has its niche, but is it mine? I think not. I ordered the ½ Slab Plate, dry rub, sauce on the side with beans and slaw. The ribs were tender but lacked of any smoke. The dry rub was a bit strong and tasted mostly of paprika but I am use to wet ribs so it maybe its just me. Sauce on the side was too sweet for me. They do not offer a spicy sauce. The beans and slaw were barely average. A pleasant surprise was the little loaf of bread served with your meal and Yuengling on tap for $ 1.75. Service was very friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was decent but the food just doesn’t call me back.

I dropped in right at closing time. Food is all I care about. I sampled the Pulled Pork, Brisket, and the Ribs. This is what I thought Memphis BBQ should taste like. I received down home Southern service and the food was solid. If I pass through Memphis again — I’m going back!

Service is very friendly and the atmosphere and décor are well-maintained. Once, I was about to purchase a sandwich, and the waiter courteously informed me that I could get that item and more for a lower price. She definitely saved me a pretty penny. Also, she offered a free drink while I waited for my food. The BBQ pork sandwiches are good but not great. They taste like sloppy joes, which is similar to Interstate BBQ’s sandwich. It’s worth a visit, at least once, if you are nearby.

Would you frequent a place next to a pool hall? Yes, you would if you wanted really good ribs and good pulled pork sandwiches. The sauce is more tangy than sweet. The service is homey and friendly, our waitress kept calling me ‘hon’. It’s a small place decorated a little like ‘country’ place(paper towel dispenser on the tables-you’ll need them) or mom & pop store. Ironically I was first taken here by a ‘lapsed’ vegetarian.
