Awesome place to get all your beer making supplies. Nice variety. They are the one stop shop for making your own beer — the cost of brew your own is far less than buying beer at the grocery — it’s an easy process and is fun for the whole family — I design my own labels and give my beers out at parties… They have everything you need for setting up your own microbrew. The staff is nice. They will help you get started. Beer is proof that there is a God and that he loves us. ~ Benny Franklin

Haha these previous reviewers must be related to the owner, everyone I know that has been in the place say the owner is smug and unfriendly, while I don’t know him well enough to say that I do know that the three times I have been in there have been less than awesome wonderful as stated by the other reviewers, I have no reason to go back. I brew my limit every year, I’ll go elsewhere.

Whether you are like me and are just getting into the home-brewing game or you’ve been doing it for some time, Mid-South Malts is definitely a great local shop that can help you get what you need. They have plenty of equipment to help you get started or to step up your game. Their prices are quite reasonable, they have a «grain card» loyalty program, and the gentlemen here are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They will help you break down the process and help you figure out exactly what you need. And if they don’t have it, they’ll suggest places you can find things at a great deal. Highly recommended!

«If you can cook macaroni and cheese, you can brew beer.» — clerk at Mid-South Malts As a new brewer and lifelong Memphian, I have no reference point for comparing Mid-South Malts to brew supply shops elsewhere. That said, proprietor Mike Lee and his Mid-South helpers do the ultimate service for novice brewers by demystifying the process – the store is unassuming and unpretentious, and Mike himself is affable and is more likely to offer you a sample of one of his concoctions than to steer you toward equipment or ingredients more expensive than those you actually need. The«macaroni» advice might be overstated, but Mike and Mid-South Malts definitely have made the brewing process approachable for me. Props to them for introducing me to the best hobby in the world.
