What’s with this rash of expensive places offering tapas style food that looks affordable from menu. That is until you realize you need four items to feed two. No left over either. Food has differing taste. Those that came with bigger portion tems to taste less. Those that come with smaller portions tends to taste super. Whatever you do, do NOT get the cheese. Fifteen bucks for that was just too expensive. This is coming from a guy that is OK with Flemings prices. Do get the dessert. They are wonderful.

I’ve only been once for coffee & once for breakfast, but seems like another home run. H&H next door is my #1 junt when I come to memphis. Good to know there is an awesome breakfast spot close(H&H brunch can’t be beat though). Really groovy little shared space connecting the two for for drinks and such.

Outstanding surprise! Delicious cured meats and charcuterie plates. I was hoping for something different and exotic and I got it here. I wanted to try more but got full. Will come again!

Mel made my morning! We had brunch here on our way out of town and the food and coffee were so delicious, I couldn’t wait to review it! We had the«Ham Sammie,» roast beef hoagie, ribs and nitro coffee. I’ve never had nitro coffee before, but it was like drinking a yummy porter. The ham sandwich was recommended by Mel(our super sweet/kickass server) and was open faced and had an egg on it – SO good! The roast beef was excellent and the ribs were AH-mazing! My sauce-covered O-face even inspired two tables near us to order them. We ordered pecan croissants to-go, cause we were too full for dessert, but even they look delectable. Can’t wait til our next Memphis trip so we can try some of the other«sammies» I missed out on this time! xoxo

This place is super cute. Good for a first date or a lunch with your girlfriend. We started with the Pimento cheese and crackers very good. Next I had The hudbano its like a cuban sandwich its not a cuban nor is it as good as a true cuban sandwich but the flavors in the hudbano were good and worth eating I also had a side of the sweet potato fries I would pass on them they put a green sauce anthem and its pretty flavorless and makes the fries soggy. My Huddy had the Roast beef sammie, The roast beef was good but the sandwich lacks something. Maybe it needs a sauce or more meat? For Desert and the main reason I came to Porellino’s is the Chicken biscuit Yes Yes Yes this is a must put in your mouth you will thank me later kinda thing. The biscuit is a simple biscuit like you would make at home but the chicken is amazing it has a sweet taste to it but not to much. When I order it again I will ask for a little more of the sauce thats on it.

This is such a yummy place to eat! I went for breakfast with my friends/coworkers before work one day. Service is fast. I love that they serve the food on what seems like«someone’s dishes». When you get coffee, it comes in cute cups and saucers. Feels like home! The food is amazing. I couldn’t get over: 1. The eggs. 2. The sausage. The eggs must be made with so much cream. They are delicious in the quiche and the biscuits. Get the quiche! I’m assuming the sausage is made in store. It is flavorful to say the least. This is no jimmy dean sausage on our hands here.

If I had to have breakfast as my final meal, I’d probably request a chicken biscuit from here. It changes everything you ever knew about breakfast biscuits. I don’t know how or why they are so great, but if I could eat one every day without doubling in size, I would. Their chicken also has a spicy sweet flavor that is so tasty. The service here is great — they are friendly and always do a great job. I can’t wait to be back!

I don’t know that I get the hype. Every time the Andrew/Michael collective make a new restaurant it is universally hailed as the BEST. NEW. RESTAURANT. EVER. People proselytize about the food; there is a whole religion dedicated to paying homage at the alter to the«fancy Southern» cooking that the chefs have elevated into an art form. To their credit, the chefs do good work. The food is consistently solid and inventive, and I do enjoy eating it. But I’ve never had a foodgasm here, so I just don’t understand the unrelenting hype. Porcellino’s is located next door to Hog and Hominy and down the way from Andrew Michael. Porcellino’s seems to be an amalgam of all the other restaurants that the co-chefs wanted to do. There is a butcher shop, a pastry shop, a sandwich shop, and maybe even a haberdashery somewhere in the back. Normally, I would be concerned that a restaurant with too many focuses would have difficulty meeting the minimum requirements, but Porcellino’s actually does a good job. I’ve had the Cuban sandwich, the broccoli potato salad, a couple of pastries and the breakfast biscuits. I don’t have a ringing endorsement for anything, but everything is solid. The ambiance is the same as the Hog and Hominy and looks like some decorator from Southern Homes and Garden was given carte blanche to go crazy. If you’re a bigger person, be weary of the chairs as they seem to be constructed of matchsticks. The last thing you want is to be spread-eagle amid the broken ruble of the chair you used to occupy.

This is the real deal. Casual but fine dining. Decadent but southern roots. Local and no frills, but classy. The waiter Chris was excellent. Knowledgeable but low key and down to earth. We ordered for 2: The ribeye meal The Asian short ribs The cheese plate Brussel sprouts Green beans Cinnamon bread pudding All of it was good. Soon fantastic. Service was through the roof, but my favorites were the Brussel sprouts, the green beans and cheese plate. They recommend 3 plates per person if you do small plates but if you order wine and dessert I recommend 2 per person to start. I would go back tomorrow. And the next night…

It always seems to be that the good places, are the ones that are tucked away, and that certain applies here. I’m not quite sure where to start, but the fact that a butcher, a craft beer bar, and a coffee shop all occupy the same space, could possibly be one of the craziest, yet most delicious ideas ever concocted. During my brief stay over, I got a chicken biscuit and a nitro coffee, which I must say is another insane but great idea. If I had one issue about the place, it’s that I didn’t think to check it out the night before for dinner.

I like this place. It’s chic but homey and reminds of cafes in NYC. Stopped in for a quick breakfast and left very happy! I started with the nitro coffee. So I’ve never had one before and was definitely surprised. It’s super creamy but very strong in a bitter sort of way. The awesome employee realized I had no idea what I was doing and have me some vanilla infused syrup which really turned this drink around! The husband had the chai latte and loved it. We went all in and got a chocolate croissant, chicken biscuit and egg and spicy sausage biscuit. The croissant was probably one of the best I’ve ever had, definitely not sharing next time! Both the biscuit sandwiches were good too but I liked the chicken better. All in all, a great way to start a lovely Saturday or any day!

My co-workers and I went there for lunch today and as soon as I got home I began to write my review. I thought my love for sandwiches couldn’t grow any stronger, but Porcellino’s has proved me wrong. I walked into sandwich heaven today. I couldn’t make up my mind so one of my co-workers decide to split a turkey croissant and roast beef sammie. Boy, they did not disappoint. Because I’m a roast beef person, I knew I had to try it. Turns out, it was just an okay sandwich. Normal hoagie and but meat was tender and thinly sliced. What made it above and beyond though was the little bites of celery in it, which gives the sandwich a bit of surprise kick. The star of this review is the turkey croissant. Words cannot describe the buttery, flakey goodness of the croissant. It was so perfect, it was like a Harry Potter novel I didn’t want to end. The meat to argula to sauce ratio was perfect. Turkey was sliced well and the argula brought out the flavor complement the aioli, which by the way you can definitely taste the bacon! Get this sandwich!!! And afterwards, get a regular croissant and save it for breakfast. I can’t wait to go back this weekend to the breakfast sandwich and for lunch to try the other sandwiches!!! Oh and to note: if you’re a tea person, I’m not sure what magic they put in their tea, but it has the perfect amount of lemon kick in it. Ugh. In love with this place.

As a huge fan of Andrew Michael kitchen, the recent news of a buddy’s agency(harvest creative) winning some addy hardware for the branding for this place, I felt compelled to FINALLY drop in and see what all the fuss is about. I had been told to try the chicken biscuit by a buddy, so that was a must get. As a fan of iced coffee and Guinness, the concept of nitro coffee also had me intrigued. Those two complied my order, while my girlfriend ordered a Vietnamese style coffee and the pimento cheese biscuits(neither the menu item’s proper name). The location is great. The layout and décor is great. The staff were friendly and, for the most part, attentive and competent. I LOVE the idea of the butcher. Let’s get all that out of the way. The beverages: My god I LOVE their nitro coffee. That is heaven in a cup. Rich and creamy with a potent kick… If I had that on tap at the house I’m certain I’d be the most productive human on earth. The Vietnamese coffee, not so much. Cloyingly sweet(even for a fan of the style), without much of the foundation coffee flavor. They’re missing the mark here… Any number of Asian places around town do it much better. The food: My chicken biscuit is the primary reason for the 2 stars. The biscuit was a bit dry and the chicken… Well… I couldn’t find it. I DID find a paper thin sliver of breading(see photo)… But for the pieces found here, I was hoping for a little meat. The sweet honey-base sauce was solid, though I’d like a little more heat to it I think. The pimento«biscuits» were not bad. The pimento flavor was very subtle… But they were okay. I’ll be back

Nestled in the cove of Brookhaven right next to Hog and Hominy is this little jewel. The vibe is upscale café but not pretentious. I was greeted upon walking in and given a friendly«hello» by every employee I came in contact with. Even what appeared to be the butcher came from the back to ask another patron how his yogurt was. YESCUSTOMERSERVICE! Greeting guest as they enter into your business is like greeting a guest in your home — a must! They get this :) The café has so many goodies for sale such as homemade caramels, coffee and various sauces, made in house and from local sources. They also sale their baked goods like biscuits and cookies — I purchased the buttermilk biscuits. My trip was at 7:30 am — I ordered an Americano with almond milk — yay they carry almond milk! The coffee was delicous and so far one of the best I have had in Memphis. Beans are not from local roaster. I also purchased their in house gelato and had that for breakfast/delicious ! They had several flavors to choose from(chocoalte cinnamon, popcorn), picking one was the hardest decision of the day! I plan to go back again and again to try their lunch and dinner menu! And even purchse from the butcher.

A friend and I popped in following an evening Unilocal event at nearby Esthetiques, to get some food to accompany all that sweet free wine. She had eaten at Porcellino’s and I had not. From the photos and review I’d seen, I thought this was more of a swanky butcher shop that serves sandwiches. My impression was way off base! Keeping in line with Andrew Michael and Hob & Hominy, the dishes are inventive, but keep their roots in smoky and salty meats, rich flavor, and controlled portions. I tried the beets(which were good, but Ridgeway Country Club’s are 100x better), the oysters(both types were delicious and sweet, free from grit), the ribs(too salty– we sent them back), the shrimp toast(aromatic, a bit of a muddy texture from frying, but great external crispness), and the cheese plate with various ages of pecorino. The seating is limited(and counter seats keep it casual) to keep things intimate, and our server, Haley, was fantastic and knowledgeable about the food and all pairings. I am sure I will be back with my husband to see what he thinks! I think it is a nice middle-ground between the other two great restaurants.

Yes, yes, yes. I love this adorable little place! And it is right by my office which makes me one happy camper. East Memphis needs more unique(read: non-chain) places like this. The atmosphere is precious and everything is so fresh, shiny, clean… ya know, new. The perfect place for a lunch date. Their menu is a wee bit on the limited side and if you’re a picky eater you might find it difficult to find something as they are a bit inventive… not simple/boring/classic is the best way I can describe it, but otherwise 5 stars, honey.

I’m not changing the star rating until I actually have dinner to confirm it. I picked up a roast beef Sammie today g or lunch and boy was I disappointed. The roast beef was really good but it was buried in bread! The hoagie was soft and fresh but I thought I was eating a subway sandwich(few ingredients and a ton of bread). The sandwich looked kind of sad and for 10 bucks and the hype of this place, I expected more. I do love the sweetened tea(I think its ginger flavored as well). Dinner Didn’t change my mind… Fell flat for us. I love the other two installments of Andrew Michael’s but this one is a bit disappointing. Dinner is usually crowded and the small tables aren’t However, the place is chic, the staff is friendly and it is worth a try, but don’t expect anything like the other two establishments next door, if you are a fan of those.

Hospitality goes a long way for me, as do perfect biscuits.(Porcellino’s has both). I would give this place three stars if the service were not stellar — but it is, so it earns an extra star. Jared(sp?) gets five stars for his knowledge of the coffee and his willingness to take time to answer questions about the many coffee options. I have been there a few times, including a fairly busy Sunday morning, and I got no bad vibes as I enjoyed my breakfast and book at the bar — I felt as if I was perfectly welcome to stay. The biscuit itself, star of the biscuit sandwich(a steal at $ 6), is perfect. It is buttery and light, yet holds up to the task of heavy-duty sandwich conveyance. On the day that I ordered this item, I also got a side of housemade pear butter, which was a beautiful complement to the sandwich. The coffee! OOOOh the coffee! The house drip is solid for a drip option, but they have pourovers, cold brew, nitro, and a really bright espresso blend with which they can do amazing things. I haven’t had a single coffee there that didn’t make me REAL happy — a wide array of roasts and preparations, each expertly executed. If you haven’t tried it before, I highly recommend the nitro, which is creamy(without any actual cream) with a big, bold flavor. Amazing. As others have mentioned, it’s a bit pricey, and the counter service can lead to a bit of a back-up when it’s busy. The morning bun wasn’t my particular jam, and I wish I could get a runny egg instead of the perfect-ring«omelet?» that is served on the breakfast biscuit. In sum: The forward-thinking coffee menu and local butchery are huge wins for Memphis, and I can’t wait to enjoy a beer and more dinner-ish fare in this light, bright, pleasant space!

Another all-star establishment from Andrew and Michael. Thank you for this. Our city needed a high quality butcher/bake shop/coffee joint. I had the daily special breakfast biscuit. It was fluffy where it needed to be and crispy on the edges. It has a delicious buttery flavour, but it isn’t overpowering. The city ham, egg and cheese was cooked to perfection. I also enjoyed a nitro coffee. I don’t remember what blend it was, but you need to try these. I picked up some gabagool, city ham, and another sliced meat, but I can’t remember the name. I made a perfect italian sandwich with these. I am excited to see what all this grows to become
