NOW NAMED UNION EXPRESS, DON“T STAY HERE
I REALLY would like for Unilocal to make negative star ratings because this hotel would get negative 5 on a 5 scale. I made the reservation over the phone the same day I was coming in. Once there the entire hotel was being remodeled, dust everywhere, no breakfast as advertised or even coffee. I wanted to get a refund and go elsewhere, but they said I could not cancel a reservation the same day. They charged my card and Am-​Ex would refused to pay. Foul nasty rooms and foul business practices by the management. when it was Red Roof it was much better, but now it’s a crack whore hotel complete with crack whores.

Should be a negative star rating! Just like the previous reviewer said. This hotel is having a change in management, change in name, but needs a change in upholstery. Sadly I didn’t look on Unilocal before booking a room. I couldn’t breathe in room 162. I do have to say that in terms of customer service they did well this time. The front desk staff switched me to a true non-​smoking room immediately, which was much appreciated. Definitely look somewhere else first, don’t be fooled by the exterior.

The new name for this place is Union Inn Express.
The Good:
1) If you ask for a newly renovated room they have new carpeting and furnishings and are very comfy and clean, but if you don;t ask you could get stuck in the old Red Roof Inn rooms.
2)Great location in Midtown and downtown
The Bad:
1) The owners are not friendly and the staff isn’t much better.
2)The rate is suppose to be $ 59 and the manager/​owners son snuck it up to $ 64 for one night. When I complained they would not return the $ 5 difference on my credit card and were very rude. CHECK YOUR RECIEPT!
3) No breakfast, no coffee pois in the room and the coffee in the lobby taste like crap and is turned off at 9am.
4) I had a homeless person knock on my door at 2am asking for money.
5) The free wifi is hit or miss

DON’T STAY HERE!
Our non-​smoking room smelt like a cross between cigarettes, mould and dog — YUMMY! This smell penetrated the carpets, the bedding, the towels, even the curtains. It… was…grim. The customer service was no better.
They recently changed their name from Red Roof Inn to Union Express. Stay somewhere else — you have been warned!
