This is our absolute favorite steak restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. I have tried many of the local Memphis restaurants that serve steak and there are some great ones. But Ruth’s Chris is at the top of our list. Great spot for a birthday or anniversary celebration. Be sure to call ahead and place a reservation.

Had an awesome meal here the other night. Wonderful service, a great glass of wine, and a yummy filet! Great date night place!

Had dinner here this evening. This was my first visit to any Ruth’s Chris, and had heard a lot of hype. Overall I was disappointed. Had the petite ribeye. The the flavor was good but the cut was thinner than expected. Asparagus, broccoli, and au gratin potatoes were average. Lobster Mac and cheese was good and the best part of the meal. Colleague had the swordfish. It was very rare and bland. Service was on the slow side. Based on my experience here I have no need to visit another Ruth’s Chris.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had! The service was incredible here, and the food lived up to the hype. We were seated promptly, and they always made sure we had everything we needed. My fiancé actually proposed over dinner, and the sweet waitress went out of our way to make our moment special. They took pictures, and even left a special message for us when we ordered our dessert. The food and the atmosphere are really wonderful here and deserving of a good rating. Between my fiancé and I, we shared the petite filet, Cesar salad, garlic mashed potatoes, the roasted chicken, and a crème brûlée(we had enough left over for a second meal!) Everything, I mean, everything was cooked to perfection! The steak arrived exactly how I ordered it(medium rare), and it was so tender and buttery; the flavor was perfect. The chicken was absolutely the best roasted chicken I’ve ever had, hands down. We also really enjoyed the salad, potatoes, and dessert.

The best bread pudding I’ve had yet. My main entre was the filet it was pretty good I don’t eat a lot of steaks but I feel I’ve had better. The sides are good just a little on the oily side .All in all I would go again

Okay I was really excited to try this but I was let down. The food was good but not great.(However the calamari was excellent) The sides were very greasy and the steak my girl ordered was underdone. The service was good but not outstanding. The server butted in on a conversation between me and my date(who I took there for a special date) For a fine dining establishment I just expected more. And I’ve had better food and service from other places in town. It’s simply not worth the price and I don’t want to go back.

Well, this used to be my favorite steakhouse. But it looks like the corporate office has been busy making changes. Smaller sides, and portions, and the quality appears to have been affected on everything except the steaks. Still a good place, but not sure it is up to Ruth’s standards.

OUTSTANDING! As you would expect from a high-end steakhouse, Ruth’s Chris is exceptional. The food has been perfect every time we have eaten there(roughly 2 – 3 times per year); the waitstaff is attentive and kind; and the atmosphere is quiet yet happy.

Ruth’s Chris has a really great happy hour menu. The prices were reasonable, service was good, food and drinks very delicious. The bar area was fun and great conversations.

Ruth’s Chris does the best job of any of the National steak houses in Memphis. Flemings and Capital Grill are both close by, and after eating at each several times it is: 1. Ruth Chris 2. Fleming’s 3. Capital Grill — a distant 3rd. Ruth Chris always cooks the steaks to the requested temperature and their meat is consistently great. Cut to the appropriate thickness.

My brother and I had dinner here before I left the city! I had the Stuffed Chicken, Creamy Spinach & a few Apple Martinis I must say the atmosphere was very calm, and we were able to enjoy a peaceful dinner. The young woman we had as our waitress was excellent, customer service was great. Please take time to visit if celebrating a special occasion or if you just want to have a nice dinner.

Came here with the fam for our Week of Festivities– Dad’s birthday, sister’s birthday, and hubby and I’s anniversary all within one week. We told them at the desk and they personalized our table for us with two birthday cards, an anniversary card, and confetti saying Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary. I thought that was incredibly neat, especially since I thought they only did that if you made reservations. Half of us had never been so we took our time looking at the menu(which is a little bit confusing without any dividing lines). Hubby was particularly interested in the Porterhouse for Two, a 40 ounce hunk of meat. If I liked steak, I’d have done it because it’s a great deal at $ 80. However, I rarely like steak so we ended up getting our own things. Most of us got the Ruth Chris Special, which involved an appetizer, a main, a side, and a dessert for around $ 50-$ 60. I was immediately attracted to the Thai-Chili Salmon, even though I don’t usually like salmon or crab enough to get it in a restaurant. Apparently I’ve been eating salmon at all the wrong places. That, or thai-chili just really makes everything better! I really loved every part of my meal. I still don’t like crab in my sushi but I’d be willing to try it in other things now. I liked my Strawberry salad except for the goat cheese(which I now know to avoid). The lobster bisque had a strange flavor to it. I’m not sure I like it anywhere, but even Dad suggested it tasted different. The sides were ok but they are plain out vegetables with no embellishments, except for the corn. I didn’t try much of other people’s food as most everyone got steak, but I tried hubby’s filet and it was very tasty. I liked the seasoning on it. If you pick the Ruth Chris special you only get one choice of dessert: the Strawberry Shortcake. It’s very good and moist. It comes with chocolate truffles which are extremely extremely strong. I loved them but definitely had to eat them with bites of shortcake. My fam weren’t fond of them and gave me theirs. If I had had more room in my tummy I would’ve eaten everyone’s but I ran out of space! The only downside of the night was that the sides were cold and my mom and husband’s steaks were undercooked. They reheated the steaks and brought new sides, but ironically, the one thing Mom wanted warm, the mashed potatoes, were still cold. All in all, most of us were quite pleased with our food but it was odd that the sides were cold and that they just couldn’t seem to get the mashed potatoes warm at all. But they did replace them all so that was pretty cool of them. I’d go back and probably get the same thing I got because it was just that super amazing. Loved: — Baby Spinach, Strawberry, and Goat Cheese Salad(w/o goat cheese) — Bread — Corn(side) — Filet Mignon(medium rare) — Strawberry Shortcake with(Dark) Chocolate Pecan Truffles — Thai-Chili Salmon with Jumbo Lump Crab(FAV) Ok: — Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo — Green Beans(side) — Mashed Potatoes Dislike: — Caesar Salad — Lobster Bisque — Mushrooms(side)

I have eaten at Ruth’s Chris several times over the years. I like their food and décor. Their prices are high enough but reasonable for what you get. I decided to treat myself to dinner there for my birthday. It was a mistake. I won’t be back any time soon. I was seated within elbow-bumping distance of a noisy group being regaled with stories in colorful language by one of their party who had had too much to drink. I could easily have been seated in their other dining room, which was nearly empty, containing only one other party, with that group talking in soft voices. Presently, a young man approached my table and introduced himself, saying«I’ll be helping your server this evening.» I wasn’t sure what this meant but attempted to give him my cocktail and appetizer order, which he declined to take, explaining that that was for my server to do. When my server appeared, I started to order dinner, and when I asked for a drink, he asked for my ID. I know that is a legal requirement, but he felt compelled to explain that it «kept me safe»(I’m not sure from what). When I started to order my steak, he interrupted to ask how I wanted it cooked, which I was about to tell him anyway, if he hadn’t interrupted. Meanwhile, once my Bloody Mary was served, the server’s helper strangely removed my wine glass, as if he had decided I couldn’t want anything more to drink than my pre-entrée cocktail. When I asked my server why it had been removed, he said«We like to free up a lot of space around here.» I told my server I wanted sides of sautéed mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, and spinach au gratin, and he started arguing with me about whether I really wanted those or not(because the portions are so generous). I insisted I really did. He finally agreed to bring them to me. Eventually, I asked to be moved away from the noisy table. A manager approached my table and asked how my evening was going. I started to express some of my concerns, and he interrupted and started arguing with me. The restaurant’s general manager has since called and attempted to address my concerns. Perhaps I’ll try it again eventually. The food is great, but as a fine dining establishment, the place is a joke. It is staffed by kids who have no concept of the nuances of upscale service. I was sorry I went.

This is my all time, hands down, go to restaurant for special occasions. I would love to eat here weekly but it’s a bit pricey. The atmosphere is warm and romantic. The service is second to none. We shared a ceasar salad. It is easy too do as the salad itself is too big for one person. The waitress kindly and very willingly sit it for us. Then we enjoyed the chicken filled with cheese. I would do anything to get that recipe. It is the best chicken I have ever had anywhere. We also had the sliced potatoes with caramelized onions. You can’t have just one, I promise you. It is my birthday so the included a complimentary little almond cheesecake topped with a raspberry coulée and a side of dark chocolate bark with almond slicers. Everything was delisciou a.

Anniversary dinner. First time trying the place and it wasn’t so great. Service was excellent but food was not that special for the price I paid. Full course described. –Calamari was excellent! Chop salad was okay. I wanted to try a salad with a different taste. Next time I know choose a classic Caesar. –surf and turf was juicy and tender. Flavor was there but I’ve tasted better. — stuffed chicken needs to avoided! Not worth the money: taste was plan and way to much butter. — complimentary dessert was given but it was not so satisfying. Overall experience was excellent but food was not quality like I would imagined. Service was excellent.

Whenever I think of a special restaurant, Ruth’s Chris is the first that comes to mind. From the minute you walk in, they treat you like a special guest! The lobster bisque is a creamy perfection and leaves enough room for the next course. Our family favorite is the petite filet and my personal choice are their crab cakes. They come sizzling on the heated plate and just fall apart – all lump crab meat. Yummmm!

My wife and I had a great experience. Sloan took very good care of us and the food was fantastic! The stuffed mushrooms were generous and flavorful. The Chop Salad is a must! Bold flavor for a salad. I had the surf and turf with the filet and my wife had the crab cakes. We both loved our entrees. We ended dinner with the chocolate explosion… so good! Not cheap, but when great service meets great food, it’s worth the money.

This Ruth’s Chris restored my faith in this restaurant chain. I went for an anniversary dinner and they had a handwritten card and the table decorated with small shimmering decorations with«Happy Anniversary». Before, I’ve had trouble at these restaurants due to service, looking young really doesn’t do anything for you in places like this. However, this specific location did an excellent job. Not only did our waiter look out for us, several other staff members were hunting down empty glasses, bread trays, and finished plates at our table and others. They seemed to have a cohesive team spirit. The salad had good height to it, a smooth dressing, and good fullness of flavor and toppings. It was not stingy in ingredients as many restaurant salads have gone and the fried onions were good contrast. The steak was well cooked and still juicy. I always go for a medium steak because it ensures that it gets heated well, doesn’t dry out, and doesn’t «moo» on its way to the table.

Well, it is a chain, y’all. But the thing about chains… there’s usually something pretty darn good about it to make it popular enough to be a chain. Is this a great place to get a steak? Yeah… But I prefer other places better. I had been on a diet for way too long so my mother and I decided to grab an early dinner after shopping a Oak Hall. We arrived at 4:00 but unfortunately they don’t open until 5. I had my heart set on a steak so we waited until the bar opened at 4:30. Well, after the 30 minutes, much to my dismay a steak was not on the bar menu. So I begged and pleaded with the bartender and he agreed to put in a filet… but the sides wouldn’t be ready. Fine by me! They have a great happy hour menu with $ 7 drinks and $ 7 dishes. Of course, my filet was still $ 37 with no sides and my 2 proseccos weren’t on the happy hour list so $ 11 each… and I just don’t think they were worth the money. They were good… but not that good. And the atmosphere doesn’t warrant that type of price. But my mom’s steak salad for $ 7 and $ 7 mojito? Definitely worth the money.
