Heard that the nitrogenated cold-brew was their speciality, so I ordered it. It’s pretty good! A little frothy from the nitrous, and of course the acidity is down because it’s a cold brew — definitely a good choice for Summer. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed here, and the café is apparently certified for Responsible Epicurean and Agricultural Leadership by the US Healthful Food Council. The tables look like they’re made from repurposed wood even. The only downside is that the café overlooks an industrial/commercial landscape on its two windowed façades, which is not particularly chill or appetising, so it’s probably a good idea to bring company or a good book!

Tried Tamp and Tap for trivia night and dinner. Before last night, I had tried their coffee and breakfast, but nothing else. Let’s just say next on my list is their bluegrass brunch. The food was awesome – we shared the salmon sandwich, turkey sandwich and a caprese salad – plus they now sell wine! Win win all around. I’ll be back soon!

Cool little coffee shop! Big emphasis on cold-brew, and they’ve even got Growlers(take-out bottle) to take some of their cold brew home. Nice! The food was very good, we split a salad/fancy grilled cheese and it was delicious and HUGE. They also have a small lounge area with Trivial Pursuit and one or two other«well loved» game sets — but I’m pretty sure I saw an original NES(Nintendo) and a *crate* of games. If you’ve got some nostalgia and time to kill, that’s awesome! Beer on tap(an unusual plus for a coffee joint) and wine(!) The servers we had don’t drink wine, so they didn’t know until we told them that one of their bottles, the one they served my wife first, had oxidized and was partway to vinegar(bad) — but, they realized the problem immediately, and replaced the glass from a new bottle. That’s top-notch service problem solving right there, very pleased :) There are several nice seating areas, including a bar area, café seating, small outdoor tables, and some nice window seating. It’s also a nice location, right next door to the Peabody hotel and right in the middle of downtown. Downsides? All those pretty windows face two Parking Garages, with an armpit concrete parking lot — but, that’s what they’ve got to work with, and they’ve done there best. No shame in that :)

I was VERY disappointed with this establishment after seeing such great reviews on Unilocal. The interior of the restaurant was dirty, the patronage was very upset, and the staff seemed nonplused by the general bad vibe in the air. Several menu items were not available, which would not have been a problem had that been properly documented somewhere. Instead, trying to order a coherent dish was much like trying to maneuver through rush hour traffic; emotionally exhausting and frustrating in the extreme. After paying $ 18.50 for some crisp arugula and a Diet Coke, I was a little taken aback at the 20minute wait for the food itself. The food may have been the highlight of the entire experience as it was serviceable and edible. The dining experience is where things really fell apart. The establishment was woefully understaffed and the employees on hand looked as if they were plucked out of the Hipsters ‘R Us catalog. They struggled to complete mundane tasks, got several orders wrong, and one smarmy employee kept calling me sweetheart in an incredibly condescending manner. Basically, they felt like their presence was a gift to the patrons. If that’s the case, I’d like to return said gift to a local Target as I have received better customer service there on a number of occasions. To top it all off, it seems that the proprietor might be marginally racist. A lovely Indian family waited my entire stay for their food(over an hour) and when they dared complain, a walking, talking man bun chastised them for disrupting his business and called the cops on them! Then He told them To go wait outside and he’d just bring them a sandwich. You know what would have been nice? Bringing them their ACTUAL food! In short… Do better. I don’t know how you could do worse.

Tamp & Tap is a nice and relaxing spot. Got the Stanley sandwich, broccoli & cheese soup, and an iced caramel latte and I was very content! Would definitely get it all over again!

I don’t have anything to compare it to but this place sits next to what looks like a more upscale apartment building and across from a parking lot right near Beale Street. I ordered the caprese salad and a latte. The cheese in the salad was quite delicious and overall it was fine. I personally found the coffee to taste a bit weak. But the choices seem fresh and the place has plenty of room. Honestly, while it may be an independent café, it felt aesthetically generic, like a hotel. It’s fine: not thrilling but not bad either. Service was pleasant.

Two words: Duck Hunt. Oh, and there’s coffee and food here too. Haha I mean seriously, any place you can take in some live bluegrass on the weekends, grab a perfect, and I mean PERFECT cup of joe, sip wine, grab a growler of craft brews, eat delicious food AND play old school Nintendo? C’mon. What’s not to LOVE?! I could have easily hung out here for awhile. It’s very inviting with leather couches, big comfy oversized chairs and bright, big windows. You have it all… people getting work done on their laptops, couples dining to the bluegrass brunch on the weekend, regulars/locals grabbing their morning coffee to go, families having waffles and omlettes, out of towners grabbing a local craft growlers, vegans, carnivores. A little something for everyone. Like the catch phrase says«Grind or Unwind». We didn’t dine, but grabbed some stuff to go. Their nitro cold brew iced coffee is seriously SO amazing!!! I mean SO amazing! Strong and delicious! Must try! They have almond milk and vegan options as well. There was definitely a line on a Sat morning but it went fairly quick. The servers were top notch. They really knew their stuff and were super sweet. A great spot to chill any time of the day really.

We came in search of sustenance. The Elizade caught my eye, but I didn’t know how to pronounce the word so I opted for the buttermilk biscuits and gravy. Well turns out they were out of biscuits. Great, just great. I guess I’m getting the Elizade. I had my girlfriend order for me, so she would like dumb if she mispronounced it. Turns out it was delicious and I’m glad I got it. I would have given 5 stars, but they didn’t bring both of our food out at the same time. I was just about done when her waffle came out. Speaking of which, I had one bite of it. Too sweet for me. I’m more of a savory man.

The atmosphere was truly amazing. I love going to unique coffee shops with a fun staff and great drinks, and this definitely met my needs. I ordered an americano, as I think that’s one of the tougher drinks to make taste really balanced. The espresso was smooth and bold, not too dark or bitter. A little too much water for my taste, but maybe I ordered too big a size. The only bit I wish was different was the TVs mounted on the wall. I really don’t like that distraction being in every public place(understandable for some restaurants and bars). It takes from the cool vibe that I get otherwise.

Such a great place to come and rekax! We came during brunch on a Sunday and they had a great band as well. We tried and split the Packard BLT between the two of us and it was awesome! What could go wrong with choosing a BLT with cheese and candied bacon!!! The staff and service was great! Can’t wait to stop back by when we are in Memphis again!

I needed a place downtown to sit and get some work done. Tamp & Tap was recommended by several people to me. It sounded like it would fit the bill, a comfortable environment to sit and get some work done, a good selection of food, coffee, and beer. It was a nice coffee shop like environment, larger tables, couches, and stuffed comfortable chairs. They also have several nice sized TVs, and a TV with retro video games! My kind of place! It was not busy, so I had a nice sized table to myself, so I spread out my work, and ordered some food and beverages to fill the rest of the space. I had a excellent crawfish chowder, and a nice sized sandwich, with a nice porter to wash it all down. The next time I am in need of a place to work down town, or just hang out for a while I will definetly come to the Tamp & Tap.

Coffee is good, but this location is slower than the other! How is that possible? The staff is friendly, but no urgency and possibly understaffed. I know we are in the south, but dang! If it weren’t for the Crescent, I wouldn’t take the time. The food is okay, much better options in the area.

Yall remember my fued with Republic Coffee, right? Word on the street is that I’ve been«banned» from eating there(I’ll try to contain my dissapoinment). The genisis of our fued originated from my original review in which I stated, among other things, that the service at Republic was abysmal, the food was subpar, and the prices were astronomical. You need not worry about that at Tamp and Tap. Tamps and Tap is a cool little bistro in the heart of downtown Memphis. Not too many places can claim to be a bistro in Memphis and not be immediatley shunned, but it works here. It’s tastefully appointed with reclaimed wood and shiny metal surfaces and leather furniture; it has a more modern style than I typically find appealing, but, in this case, I dig it. The staff is friendly and answered all of my questions and was patient with my non-coffee drinking ass while I mulled over the myriad options on the menu. They are all colorful characters, much the same as you would see at Republic — except they actually make an effort to be compotent at their jobs. Im not typically a coffee drinker, so I settled on a Tennessean. Its foamy and sweet and… thats all I got. Im not sure what kind of coffee it is. Hell, it may be a latte. Is a latte still coffee? I dunno. It’s tasty, though, and it’s my typical order when I come in. The food is pretty clutch. I can’t closley approximate the biscuits and gravy I had this morning in my kitchen(like I can with what I tasted at Republic). And I make biscuits and gravy pretty often. The menu is varied and impressive, and has ingredients you wouldn’t typically see at places that dont charge you an arm and a leg. I paid 16 $ dollars for my coffee/latte/whatever-the-fuck and biscuits and gravy, which is actually more than I paid at Republic, but I left Tamp and Tap with a smile. Newsflash, Fitz and Republic coffee staff, this is how you make coffee while simultaneously NOT being a gaping asshole. Maybe yall should take notes?

This place actually surprised me, in a very good way. They have a very laxed environment, the look and feel of this place alone is worth a stop in to relax, read a book, or study. The coffee selection is everything you could ask for. I had the Tennessean iced with a caprese sandwich. The drink is a white chocolate caramel latte that was very good, even on a cool day the iced coffee hit the spot. The caprese sandwich was also a hit, the fresh mozz, pesto, grape tomatoes, basil and balsamic reduction on ciabatta bread was so delicious, a perfect mix of flavors and everything you expect out of a caprese. The food a little pricey, but is very fresh, and I don’t mind paying for fresh. I did notice they have a growler station serving craft beer, although I didn’t have my growler handy to fill I noticed they have some nice selections that I will be back to try.

Tamp & Tap. When I was working right across the street I never made it to this gem and I don’t know why! In a world full of Starbucks, Memphis loves its local coffee shops, and Tamp & Tap is certainly one of the best! The ambiance when you come in is friendly but not intrusive. The seating allows for group hang outs, date nights, or even just a study night on your own. You aren’t stuck with a 4 top table if you’re just looking to seat you and your books. It’s a great feel… the difference in seating and décor gives the place a little personality. The staff are absolutely fun! When I went in with a friend a few weeks ago, neither of us had been in and she isn’t from the States, so some of the menu items needed explanation. What I loved was hearing great questions from the staff about our likes and dislikes and how the were able to share with you what of their offerings were probably going to be your favorites. I don’t drink coffee, but I was pleasantly surprised by all of their other drink options, ranging from teas to hot chocolate, there was no shortage of options. In addition, you are greeted with a generous coffee shop menu that is delicious in its own right. I got a frozen green tea and was amazed at how much I liked it. The guy at the counter asked me just the right questions to get me to this drink and he was right on every aspect! All in all, T&T is a great place to go for good service, great ambiance, and fabulous drinks and foods. Definitely a place that I will return to, especially given it’s walking distance!

A cute coffee shop that that plays live music in the evening and serves craft beer. I ordered a latte and fruit and yogurt parfait. I don’t know what kind of yogurt they use, but it was so tasty and they didn’t skimp on the granola or fruit! My hubby ordered an egg sandwich which was basically a fresh omelette on top of toast, which he enjoyed. I like that they serve local brews(both coffee and beer) and have the mom and pop feel, and the coffee was good, too!

Moving above Tamp and Tap was the best decision for my mornings(but the worst for my bank account). Their coffee is so. Dang. Good! The employees greet me with a smile every morning. I could drink their Cold Brew 365 days a year(but especially when it’s warm out). I’ve tried some of their food and it’s all delicious. The brunch imperial is my favorite. Tamp and tap is my favorite coffee shop in Memphis. Oh yea, you can get beer too!

Would absolutely recommend popping in here for a coffee that’ll hit the spot on your way out of town. They were conveniently located near the Holiday Inn downtown and had on-street parking and a lot next door. We sidled up to the bar for coffees, bagel, and an egg sandwich. Kind of really obsessed with the fonts they use and liked their coffee graphics behind the counter. I would definitely work from here or meet here if I lived here and was in the downtown area for the day. Plenty of space and various seating areas. Kinda love that they were playing Notorious B.I.G. at 9 in the morning though one of their other patrons wasn’t a fan. It’s called ear buds, bud. My mocha was great, not too sweet and helped get me through the morning drive. The bagel was a bagel, and my sister enjoyed her egg sandwich that came on wheat I believe. If I’m ever in Memphis again, I’d totally come back to try out their menu and Tap side of things!

So far my favorite spot in memphis for coffee! I love the set up — and the coffee! See pics for deets! And equal to that the staff were great! I wasn’t rushed like other places. Was greeted when I came in and I like that I wasn’t surrounded by the typical coffee scene of packed tables with people sitting on their laptops sipping on 3 hour old coffee.

Tamp & Tap is a great place for groups or individuals wanting to get breakfast, coffee, meetups, lunch, brunch, craft brews– they seem to do it all here. We stopped in for breakfast twice at this downtown location when staying in Memphis. I enjoyed the huge portion of yogurt parfait with granola, served in an ice cream sundae dish. They serve Metropolitan drip coffee from Chicago, and also local brewers in a cold press. We enjoyed the hip décor, plenty of space to stretch out and use their tables made from discarded trees. We saw a community group with cops meeting at the large table– so it’s a place the community can meet. I would love to come back for Bluegrass Brunch! And buy one of their growlers and fill it with craft beer on Thursday Beer Night. On my next nice visit to Memphis, and this nice place, for sure.
