RAINSONG shoes… ahhh. you don’t find this selection in the big cities… If you like boho or «stylish earth» shoes”…this is your stop. It takes time to admire all the shoes and decide what to pick. They have a frequent buyer card(buy 10 pairs then get one free) …I believe it’s 10 pairs??? Buying ten pairs is easy to do in this store. The service(sales ladies) well… don’t know what to say??? but it’s all about the shoes(men and women) anyway my dears. Oh, the selection for men are«manly men» shoes. Going up to Mendo in a few days and this place is always on my «stops» list. The RAINSONG boutique down the street on the corner is a nice clothing and such store. A great selection of wares(out of the mainstream-no shopping mall stuff here-and only few made in China) befit of living in the forest or on the rustic beaches up North.

I visit RainSong every time I’m in town. Love the shoe store, but the clothing store, not so much. The sales ladies are always rude & unhelpful. Mendo is a dog friendly town but here, I can’t bring in my 20 pound pooch. There selection is average-& over priced. RainSong shoes however, worth a shop.

This boutique in Mendocino sells very high end clothing and nice accessories. Mostly for women, the prices on blouses/tops seemed to range from about $ 75 to $ 250. I stopped in here to browse and see if I could find a warm sweater but I wasn’t quite prepared to pay the prices they were asking. The clothing looked very attractive, however, and if money was no object I definitely would have gone home with several purchases.

Looks like Rainsong is still thriving on the same corner which thrilled me to no end! I walked in and it was almost like nothing had changed however the styles changed a bit. The store did sadden me though because they didn’t have any sizes above XL. Ahhh how I miss that size and smaller! Guess I’ll have to lose the weight again to do some serious damage here next time!

The only place in the area with fashionable clothing. My husband forgot his pants and we found this place on the main street. Has designer labels and some cut jewelry too.

Walked in because of an awesome long sweatshirt I saw on a mannequin. I didn’t see any in the store, so I went back to the mannequin and when I started to look for the size on the tag, a saleswoman(while on the phone) barked out at the me in a very negative way«It’s 250 dollars.» First of all, I didn’t care what the price was, secondly, it would have been much nicer to wait until you’re off the phone to come ask me if I’d like some help. Or if it was that you’re sick of people trying to look at the tag, then have it out and accessible. The nicer saleswoman with long black hair brought me to the back where they had more, but the damage was done by that point. I really wanted it, but didn’t want to support this store. I’ll find it online somewhere! Everyone during my Mendocino trip was so nice… not sure what happened at this place to cause such negative energy.

Shopping might not be the first thing most people think of when they plan a trip to Mendocino, but that is an error of great tragedy. Rainsong has a heartbreakingly beautiful selection of clothing. Great selection of designer jeans, COH, Hudson, Lucky, and brands I usually find at Anthropologie– loved their Michael Stars selection, as well as some awesome gems you won’t find in department stores. The staff are awesome and super helpful. Shopping here always sweetens my vacation weekends and is definitely something to look forward to.

Rainsong’s buyers have been hitting the mark for multiple decades now. From the Betsy Johnson dress I put on layaway here when I was 16 to the premium denim, tops & outwear on the shelves and hangars now, this establishment has always hit the sweet spot: tasteful, fashionable, just-edgy-enough items that span the age gamut. Salespeople are always helpful but not attached to us at the hip. Great stuff for both men & women. We always stop in when we’re in the area.

On our recent(amazing!) trip to Mendocino, both the bf and I found great $ 30 sale items that were originally over $ 100! Him: a button-down black dress/going-out shirt that fits him PERFECTLY(forgetting the brand at the moment but may add it in once I check with him…) Me: gray, denimy/lineny slacks that also fit VERY well and I wore the same night I bought them The woman helping us was super nice and even let Ruggles(my small, well-behaved dog!) watch us shop since it was too cold for him to sit outside. The sale section was large and I’m excited to shop there again!

It was cold. I needed to buy a sweatshirt. Just a boring sweatshirt, which apparently doesn’t exist in Mendocino! Stopped in here not expecting much(it was my third stop in my quest to warm up), and ended up being impressed with their selection. No, they don’t carry sweatshirts either, but I got myself a nice Patagonia fleece zip-up which did the trick just fine. Perusing the rest of their racks, I noticed some pretty nice, high-end stuff. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

I love the clothes here, but without breaking my credit card fast, I’d have to steal them to take them home with me. This store isn’t cheap, but it is very pretty and includes a great selection of designers.

«My goodness, where do you get your clothes? And will you please take me shopping with you??» were the first words out of the mouth of a good family friend when I was back east last weekend. Of course she’s a 55 year old hippie/yoga instructor and so she never gets dressed up and is easily impressed with my pretty skirts, but still, it’s nice to hear. I love Mendocino. I love this store. My credit card hates this store. But I love it. Great clothes. A nice mix of designers — some that you recognize —(Michael Stars, Free People, etc), some that you’ve hardly even heard of… Kind of like another version of Anthropologie, but with even better stuff(and comparable prices, sorry). Some of the clothes are just gorgeous. And the salespeople are extremely helpful and friendly. Just don’t go blaming me when you stop in this store to check it out and walk out $ 2000 lighter. I warned you. They also have men’s clothes, but I’m way too self centered to have ever checked them out. *Anyone notice the Kinks reference?
