I had liked this place my first couple visits. Large portions and great food. Then we went and waited about 40 minutes for lunch and the place was close to empty, but gave them another chance. Next visit about the same wait and food was sub par. Last visit(can’t believe there was another, only because of our original good experiences) got there at 11:30 for lunch for a party of 3, left at 1:15… and we barely touched our food, not for lack of hunger, it was just terrible. Everything tasted canned. Not sure what happened but won’t be going back.

Get the corned beef HASH! It’s homemade and delicious. I ordered mine in an omelette w/Swiss. Waitress was great, very diligent and easy to talk to. I went on a Monday morning. I might come back tomorrow! Prices are ok, not diner $ tho. My omelette w/toast and home fries was about $ 8. Def give it a shot, the décor is spot on.

I was reluctant because I had been here before and it was bad. It is under new management and so I said ok well try it and I was impressed. I had the buffalo salad with arugala and blue cheese. It was big, fresh and yummy. My husband had the fish and chips, which had a good batter and the chips were hand cut round and tasty. The only tip would be ask to have fries separate from fish to avoid extra grease. Very decent prices.

This is a real old-style diner. Be prepared for good service and long waits. There aren’t enough people to serve the entire facility, so it seems that it takes too long for the kitchen, and too long between service staff. Similar experiences apply for the food. The crust of the pot pie was dry and overcooked, but the body of the pie was delicious, not too heavy and not too soft. The chili was excellent, but the tortilla chips«just out of the oven» were undersalted and greasy. The hamburger was excellent, and the potato chips were proper home fry style chips. Some people, not expecting that might be disappointed. The lemon meringue pie, was classic American fare. A crispy crust, lemon filling from a can, and piles of delicious egg froth. There are no huge American serving sizes here either. This is the way people used to eat, for a decent price. If you’re not in a hurry and want a more traditional style meal, highly recommended.

We have come here for breakfast a bunch of times and it has been great. Went in for dinner around 7 on a Sunday and the food was sub par. Got the chicken pot pie. It was very dry with very little chicken in it. The crust that seemed to be placed on top of the bowl instead of baked on was pretty decent though. We also got the turkey turnover. This was tasty but the gravy that it was served with had a very strange flavor and was brown? I would think it should have been a lighter color-me just being picky I guess. The mashed potatoes were extremely salty. The cranberry sauce it came with was definitely the best part of the meal. Sad. Got a Corona to drink and they didn’t even put lime in it. hhmmm maybe me just being picky again? Will come back for breakfast but that’s about it.

Just went to Miss Mendon for ice cream. The ice cream itself was good however for what you pay its not worth it! 3.99 for a small hot fudge sunday that was the size of a kiddie with a drizzle of hot fudge, my husband got a soft serve twist the size of a kiddie… at first I thought the prices were good until I saw the size of what you were getting!

I had heard of the Miss Mendon diner. Since we were in the area we decided to try it. I loved the diner ambiance and the service was friendly and efficient, but the food was unimpressive. The haddock was good, but the rice pilaf was inedible. I was looking forward to the vegetable of the day which was grilled zucchini, but they were all out. The green beans were blah. The turkey gravy was too salty. Coffee was very good. If I go back it will be to try the breakfast. I won’t waste my time or money on dinner.

First and last time. We waited 45 minutes for breakfast. We had to ask where it was after noticing a few tables, who sat after us, were being served. The French toast I ordered was soggy in the middle. I couldn’t eat it. I ordered one pancake which tastes like a mouthful of flour or bisquick. Couldn’t eat that either. I had to touch my husbands toast to see if it was toasted because it was so white.

Not worth it, in my opinion. The allure of the Miss Mendon is that it is an authentic diner car, and yes, it is, but don’t expect to be seated in it. We were in the dining room, which wasn’t that spectacular. Bummer. There were plenty of seats in the car itself… but oh well. The food itself isn’t anything to write home about. I got my normal hash and eggs, and the hash browns were meh. The corned beef hash was… ‘homemade’ but very weird. It was made with sandwich/deli meat instead of the real deal, which isn’t my thing. The food wasn’t really that hot either. The service is sub par. I saw my waitress maybe, 5 times. Once to greet, once to get drinks, once for food, and once for a check in/give us the check. They sure did like to chat though, as there were three or four waitresses. Neat fact – there’s a TV in the bathroom. Another neat fact – the chef was chewing gum. Pretty sure that’s a health code violation. The folks who own Imperial seem to have a couple of hands in many different buckets. Stick to selling cars, you seem to be good at that :)

Watch your bank account, the waitresses like to change the tip you put on the bill. I went for a meal, got terrible service and got charged a $ 10 tip which I did not choose for the tip. Went back to the manager and the manager said he would take care if it but did not help at all.

I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant and I have returned several times, from the outside it is cute and appealing but the service and food do not match the exterior. The service is always pretty slow but the servers are always friendly. I tried this restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner, the first night the waitress suggested I try the meat pie, it was obviously made way ahead and reheated and was really flavorless, bland and dry. The breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular although the pancakes were delicious and the coffee was above average for a diner setting. They seem to really try for the old school diner feeling here, but the food is just average and the portions pretty small.

I love diners and the breakfast special was spot on. Coming from a place where the old diner rules, this was a great throwback for me. Give it a try, but dont expect high end cusine. Its a diner with good comfort food!

The building is adorable however the food was awful. The waitress asked if we wanted our fries early… of course as we had two little kids with us. After an hour the fries came, undercooked and greasy. The kids chix fingers were hard as a rock with a ton of breading. barely any customers and the servers were constantly in the weeds. Don’t waste your money!

The décor is nice and there’s spacious seating, so that gets them an additional star. The food was barely edible. My wife ordered a buffalo wrap that was way too spicy. She gave up after a few bites. My fried chicken tasted like something you get at an amusement park. The vegetables that came with it had the consistency of rubber and I still can’t figure out what they did with the potatoes. The ketchup was good though.

This place was reasonable when it opened, but my last two visits were atrocious. It was this last visit that compels me to write. In the first of my last two visits, my son had a hot dog that looked like it sat in the steamer all day, and just didn’t look right. The waitress seemed to know that, as she brought a new hot dog grilled on the flat top about 10 minutes later, before I even had a chance to tell her the first one was bad. But if she thought it didn’t look right, why even serve it? 6 months later, we try again with the whole family, as the first place we tried had a huge line. My son’s grilled cheese was cold, as were the sweet potato fries. The onion rings were clumpy and only warm. I ordered the onion rings instead of fries because what they serve for fries aren’t: they are round slices of potato, rather than shaped like fries. That shouldn’t really matter, but I don’t know if it because of the oil temp, how they cook, or how they lay in the basket, but they always come out in a greasy pile, stuck-together and not at all crispy. But the worst was their hot turkey dinner. It looked like frozen dinner, right down to the dry rubbery turkey and instant«mashed potatoes.» My wife ordered the gravy on the side, and even that was cold. This meal was abysmal. Dining with small kids doesn’t always afford you the time to deal with talking to the manager though. So for an inedible hot turkey dinner, short stack of pancakes, grilled cheese, sides of largely uneaten and unappealing sweet potato fries and onion rings, I paid our $ 43 bill and left. We won’t be back. It’s a shame, since we like diners, and they put a ton of money into this building this one.

Stopped in late night for a bite. Service was spot on. Very attentive and helpful. We ordered turkey clubs and sodas. The club was fresh and well made, french fries were hot and plentiful. Overall great experience. We have been in for weekend breakfast and will say service is a bit slow when they are busy. Food sat for a bit waiting to be run to the table. Will say the fried potatoes as home fries leave something to be desired, fresh potatoes would definitely elevate the breakfast. Overall great little diner!

I’ve been here a couple times, each time expecting things to MAYBE get better. But, at the risk of sounding cliché; it is what it is. The fact that it is sitting in the middle of a huge car car dealership doesn’t bother me. The fact that even in their heyday, diners didn’t look like this, doesn’t bother me. The fact that the entire experience is rather«Disney-ish»(I would not have been surprised by a guest appearance by ‘Lightnin’ McQueen’), doesn’t bother me. What does bother me is how many people figure it’s a diner, so some things can slide, like service and food quality. Miss Mendon had fallen into the ‘less is more, is a value’ philosophy. Too much of a crappy thing is just that, too much of a crappy thing. Service here kinda sucked. Mid afternoon, not too busy. Easily as many staff as customers, but we waited no be noticed, not good. We were given big, garish menus and our drinks by one person who, wordlessly reached over and grabbed my fellow diner’s knife from the table(?), and waited. A totally different server came by and took our order. The menu is overdone with automotive references, the placemats are an abomination also, touting how spectacular this dealership is. Enough is enough, I just wanted to eat. Halfway between the extended wait for a burger, reuben and cup of chowder, the server mentioned in passing, that they were making more chowder as they ran out earlier.: / We got our entrees with big portions of middle of the road food. The ’round fries’ were bland, soggy discs. The burger was evidently a premade patty, but not too bad on a grilled bun. The reuben was sort of anemic, but tasted o.k. I opted for the onion rings, which were good, but a little salty. The cup of chowder had yet to arrive. Finally, as I was ¾ through with my meal, it showed up. Very thick, but not really simmered long enough, it had a floury taste from the roux, with plenty of clams and stuff, but the few potatoes were a little stiff(underdone). Just because a place is nostalgic or novel, doesn’t mean it should be allowed to fall short in what the true purpose is. Some pride needs to be taken in the food being prepared. Diner food has become elevated way beyond ‘greasy spoon’ status. Because of this and the legendary efficiency of diner service, diners have become recently trendy today, NOT for the neon, t-shirts and coffee mugs, cars and jurassic music. I think service would have been better if there was some sort of management in place to oversee, rather than the inmates running the asylum. Servers were too busy interacting with each other and dealership mechanics and such that the customer is left feeling like they are an interruption of the Imperial/Miss Mendon workday, rather than the reason for it.

Just finished up a first time visit and was left disappointed. The place was crowded but plenty of room at the counter which we specifically had to ask for. Seems like the default question on a busy day should be «Counter OK?» I ordered a chicken salad wrap with cole slaw. It was about a cup of mayo with sprinkle of old chicken bits. They were out of cole slaw. Yuck. My fellow diner had a country breakfast which was extremely salty. Our sever was nice and fairly attentive though. I won’t be back soon if ever.

The waffles are amazing! As good(no…better than Waffle House) and service that is 5 star! My hubby had the breakfast burrito(yummy) and my FIL had an omlet… also yummy. Hot, fresh coffee… what more could you ask? I have been here while my truck was getting serviced in the Ford dealer, as well as for dinner. The food and service have always been great. I wish the beer selection included Harpoon… but it is a diner after all… we can’t have everything!
