SoCal Mulch

I must say that I am very impressed with the hard work and professionalism of the two guys that installed my mulch. Bruno and Adrian were terrific and worked methodically and well as a team when doing what needed to be done!

I have utilized this place for both mulch and gravel over the years. I am guessing I have been there 5 or so times, and have never had a negative experience. Perhaps I am just smart about when I visit, but I have never waited in any lines and service has been fantastic. I won’t be trying any other place as long as they keep performing like they do. If you are in need for some bulk mulch or rock, just drive your truck down and bring a tarp. They will make sure you are taken care of.

I’ve been there three times to get some mulch, and always nice laid-​back people to work with. They aren’t salespeople, and they aren’t angry/​uncaring staff — it’s a pleasant experience when I go there. This might sound like something a salesman would say, but trust me :-), I’m no salesman… I like the way they have the drive-​thru all setup — easy to see where to drive to get them to dump it into your truck bed.
If you’re going there via the 15 freeway, off Bundy, it is quite a distance, and hard to know if you’ve passed it on your first visit. But keep going… you’ll know it when you see it.
So why only 4 stars?
I actually wanted wood chips, as used in the Back to Eden movie for improving the soil.
But tree services seem too unpredictable — I can’t accept 15+ yards of wood chips for my project.
If SoCal Mulch would provide some ‘just cut yesterday wood chips’ options, I’d give 5 stars.
My need for them is pretty limited (a couple yards and then I’m good for a few years) and it may not make sense for them to do that.
But that’s where I am with it.
Maybe they could add a notification setup — we have fresh cut wood chips — first come first served?

Hi, these are strictly facts without emotion. Ordered about 5 yards of mulch and asked them (and making sure) to have it in their driver notes to drop off the mulch on the right side of drive way so the wife can back out of the drive way. In addition and moreover, I had spoke to I believe one of the owners son’s about the specific request of where it was to be placed and ordered (paid) for a tarp for it to be laid on top of and this young man said (who told me not to worry he would personally handle it) he would take care of the special request himself regarding the placement of the mulch on the far right side of drive way as too not block the wifes car in the garage. I was very calm but firm in the request relaying the significance of the request… and, It was firmly promised to me by this confident family member of the company it would be executed by himself. On the day of delivery, I recieve a call about the mulch being placed where I specifically, firmly, & nicely explained where not to put it. Essentially blocking the wife and they refused to correct it and said I was unprofessional and told me they will refuse service from me now. ??? Use these guys with caution as they seem to have irrational guided anger for random customers than tell you they refuse the right to serve you. Beware of irrational anger (EXTREME, IRRATIONAL, & RANDOM UNPROFESSIONALISM; DANGER TO YOUR CIVIL LIVELYHOOD) toward innocent and helpless customers costing you time & money for no reason at all.

I used Lisa from So Cal Mulch and she was so pleasant to talk to and she helped me choose the right mulch for my yard. Who knew there were so many to choose from. It was terrible going to Home depot the price was bad. Here at So Cal Mulch the price was right. Thank you Lisa! All family owned business. Her Dad was great too.

This place is great. They have a lot of different types of mulch to choose from and they even sell the dye to re-​color the faded mulch. Also they have a huge selection of soils for planting. I used the veggie blend for my garden and so far have had great results. I highly reccomend this place.

We loved this place. Had lots of mulch choices and the staff were really nice and very knowledgeable. While we live in Escondido and it is a bit of a drive but the prices are so reasonable the drive is well worth it. They also have rocks to choose from and they also have a nice selection of those at really decent prices. This is the place to go if you are needing rock or mulch.
