The lady with the short hair is rude, asked to split a check she refused to and argued with me for 15min… And it takes 45min to get you’re food most the time… Disappointed won’t be going back anymore

Some of the best Chinese I’ve ever eaten. Szechuan Cold Noodles were great, along with the Mongolian Chicken, Won Ton soup, and dry beef. Not sure why people get so upset over service, look, you’re not a prince or princess and the food is reasonably priced. Just enjoy it.

You can find some authentic Chinese food here with reasonable prices. I normally came here for quick bites or take-away as it’s near me.

Excellent spot, great value, especially at lunch. I’m not particularly fond of their soup, thus the –1 star. Overall, not greasy at all, no MSG, great service. Very clean too!

The worst restaurant ever. The owner was extremely rude to children. And food was not fresh!

Good, solid Chinese food. Fey is deeply focused in the spicy-style, and while it might say Szechuan on the Unilocal page, they also serve other types of Chinese cuisine, like those of Hunan or Xinjiang. It’s actually quite similar to Crouching Tiger in Redwood City, but with a slightly different set of dishes. Keeping that in mind, the food would be on the salty side. It’s not a big deal for me, as long as I order some rice to keep the sodium at bay. We tried their famous dish — the tea smoked duck, as well as the spicy green beans(a personal favourite), and hot-boiled beef. Everything tasted decent, with the duck being the clear winner of the meal. However, the beef was a bit underwhelming in terms of spiciness and the amount of actual beef in the dish. While I would come back for some of their other dinner food(especially the hot pot — I got extremely jealous eyeing what other people are eating), the interesting part is their brunch. No, I don’t mean hot pot for brunch, but they have Chinese-style brunch with fried doughnuts and soy milk! I still haven’t managed to visit on a weekend, but the mere thought of it gets me excited. Oh, yeah, and don’t worry about service. You will get the typical Chinese restaurant service, no more, no less.

The plates and spoons are dirty. ABSOLUTELYDIRTY. It hasn’t been cleaned yet. That was not a big deal until I saw employees’ behaviors.

I went here with a couple of my colleagues the bill came out to $ 60.33 we gave them $ 70. One of my colleagues payed with a card we were expecting change back so we could give them a $ 10 tip. They had came back with the receipt with no change so my friend could sign it, one of the male waitress stood next to my colleague making sure he would would write down a tip. We gave him another $ 5 tip and yelled at us saying«only $ 5!». We were appalled by this and he told us to leave and complain to another waitress.

Came for Saturday night dinner. Service was okay and fast. Parking was available(not too many guests in the restaurant anyway). However the food was not as good as expected. Sichuan Cold Noodles was good. Garlic Pea Sprouts was a bit dry and less fresh. The worst dish was Xinjiang Private Kitchens Lamb. It seems like they simply grab something out from their lamb soup and make it a dish. Worst lamb dish I’ve ever had in a Chinese restaurant.

I was pretty apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews here, but in the desperate attempt at finding a decent Chinese place after moving to MP, I came in. I’m glad I did. First, going to address some of the negative reviews: — Yes, the parking lot is small. But can park way more than 10 cars. exaggerate much? — If parking is full, it’ll likely be full inside. Yes, you’re going to have to wait. — You walk into a SICHUAN place and order a CANTONESE dish, and expect it to be top-notch. Learn your Chinese cuisines before you trash talk. — I did knock a star off because the owner does always have a scowl; but she does smile if you smile to her. Anyways. The sichuan dishes here were incredible. The cold plates to the fried plates. We’ve been back three times already, and I only stepped foot inside last week. The mark of a good, REAL Chinese restaurant? In a predominately non-Asian neighborhood, the place is filled with Chinese people. Do you see that at PF Changs? No.

We didn’t quite know how we were going to like Fey food. We’ve heard good and bad so we decided to try it. We arrived about 6pm on a Thursday night and were seated right away. There were about three occupied tables at that time. We got our menus and were reading them when a huge party of about 20 people entered the store. My heart sank! We were never going to get our food on time I thought. Then we ordered… While our food was cooking we were served sugared fried chinese noodles and tea. The noodles were nice and crisp without any extra oil or fat dripping from them. But I think i prefer a nice sweet dipping sauce to a pre sugared noodle. The tea was seeped well and tasted fine. To my amasement our food came quickly. And it was all very good. The hot and sour soup could have used more«hot» but I understand that different people have different tastes so I tried adding pepper but the pepper container was empty… still there were alot of Chinese veggies in it. The dried cooked string beans were fabulous, nice crisp texture and good taste. The kung pao chicken was full of veggies but again was not too spicey. The orange beef was a very nice surprise. Slightly different then what i’ve tasted before. It was crispy fried and had a great taste. Our pot stickers were filled with a nice amount of meat and were very tasty. And dessert was a bean pancake, I think. It was a nice sweet item to end the meal, plus the usual fortune cookie with the bill. The only glitch came was when we wanted to pay and leave. Our bill never came. So I had t walk to the front area and request the bill. Overall this restaurant was very good. It accomodated a large crowd and was able to feed the small tables also. Everything was clean and neat. I would recommend the family dinners, they give a good sampling of lots of foods and was a good bargain. Parking may be a problem if coming from the north. The entrance is right next to the store and you may have to make a U turn to get to it. Will definitly recommend this restaurant and return in the near future.

We’ve been coming here for years, and my wife(native Chinese gal), my kids, and I(American guy) all love the food. The décor is really nice and in general, the service is really good. At times the staff get slammed with big parties but they still seem to pay attention. Our family favorites include the cold Sichuan noodles(to die for, though with little kids we get it with the hot chili oil on the side), dry cooked green beans, mu shu chicken, and Chongqing chicken(super spicy fried chicken). I just tried the twice cooked tofu and enjoyed that a lot. I came to Unilocal today to get suggestions of new dishes to try and I found some of the reviews to be weird. All I can say is the food has always been great, the service has been fine, and the only complaint I can make is the parking gets brutal if you don’t get there early. One important thing for you other non-Chinese folk: this is much closer to authentic Chinese food. If you order anything spicy, just be prepared to sweat.

3 – 3.5 stars, but rounding down for the horribly slow and nonexistent service. My coworkers and I came for lunch on a Tuesday, and came right when they opened. We were one of the first customers in the restaurant, but saw they had a few to-go orders ready for pick up at the counter. Fey is quite a large restaurant, and they have a front section, middle section, and large section in the back where I think they seat the larger parties. There was no one to great us at the front so we basically just walked in until we saw someone halfway in the restaurant, and they hastily seated us at a table. We tried: –Spicy Beef Combination(Cold Beef & Beef Tripe, $ 7.95, ): The tripe was really good, but the cold beef was dry, and this wasn’t spicy at all– skip! –Salt & Pepper Sparerib($ 11.95, ): This was not the preparation we expected, and the spareribs were super super dry, which I guess is their style. I liked the crisp on the outside, but not how dry the meat was– skip! –Beef Stew Noodle Soup($ 9.95, ): Yum– this was surprisingly my favorite dish– they gave you a good amount of beef stew, and there was a nice mix of tendons and meat. The noodles tasted fresh, and I liked the flavor of the soup. They also gave you a large portion– highly recommended! –Double Mushroom w/Tofu( ): Good– the tofu and the mushrooms were cooked well, and this dish was flavorful. –Sichuan Cold Noodles($ 8.95, ): Yum– this was my second favorite dish. They give you a large portion of noodles for the price, and we all liked the flavor. Recommended! –Meat Dumplings in Spicy Sauce($ 8.95, ): Just ok– the dumplings were well made, but I didn’t like the sauce since it was more soy based with a thin consistency. I prefer a thicker consistency and a peanut butter based sauce– skip! The noodle dishes had the best taste and value, and I would recommend you stick to those. They also have a decent selection of lunch specials available for under $ 10/plate. However, their menu is super extensive, and it could be we didn’t order the right dishes. I would definitely consider coming back once more and try out other dishes, but would have low expectations for their slow service. At least the food came out quickly, even though we had to flag down a server to get our check, and again to get a take out box. They have their own parking lot, but it’s pretty small, so if you come late you’ll have to try and look for the limited street parking. People also start parking in non-spots, so it gets pretty squishy to get out when the lot is crowded.

Classic Chinese esque place with more of a spicy touch. It’s actually pretty nice in there with modern feel to it. They have pretty authentic dishes that Asian parents would appreciate. Also you can watch the game from a limited number of booths. Food is pretty good but way overly salty. I love the people who work there because they are so attentive and nice hehe.

Stay absolutely away from this business. I was a patron of this restaurant for years and could say great things about the food, but I will not be returning here again. I was finally exposed to the owner’s shady business practices. The owner is very greedy, manipulative, and will do anything to get your money. Twice in a row, the waitress pestered me aggressively to order more food when I knew exactly what I wanted and what my party could finish. In top of that, she recommended the priciest items on the menu. My worst encounter with this restaurant was when I organized a birthday party for a friend. When I made the reservation weeks in advance, the owner spoke in hardly understandable English, listing various requirements for hosting a party(number of people, number of dishes per table, etc). I was happy to meet those requirements, but she continued to change and convolute those requirements throughout the conversation, pressuring me to order more food per table. When I asked for clarification, she only became aggressive and demanded me to order more food. I let her attitude go(I regret that now). On the day of the party, the tables were not ready at the time of our reservation and service was incredibly slow. The worst part came when we received the check, and the owner added an unspecified $ 150 to our bill! I confronted the owner, and she argued that it was part of the party requirements. That was never communicated to me. After arguing with the owner, a kind waiter came into the dispute and removed the unspecified charge. I can tell he was familiar with the owner’s tactics. Frankly, I don’t care about the money spent, but I do care about honesty and integrity. I would have been glad to spend twice the money on a restaurant that respected its customers. I would stay away from this restaurant if you do not want to be taken advantage of.

Came here for dinner for chinese new year. Damn this place is not bad! Especially the room in the back. Looks like a banquet hall with a huge lazy susan. The general décor of the place is pretty good too. With a lot of shiny lights and fish tanks everywhere The food was crazy good. We got the whole braised fish, a fried crab, various appetizers that were all very different and tasty, and a lot of fatty meaty dishes. They even give you a dessert rice soup that had a lot of wine in it. Niceeee Definitely a good place for a large group of folks.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Menlo Park. Always fresh. Spicy food.yum. Any of the noodle dishes are fabulous. Beautiful spicy noodles. The mushu dishes and stirfry dishes are yummy… and you can taste the«wok fire» as Chinese chefs say. in their food. Tonight we ordered the twice cooked pork and mushu chicken wraps! Right on target… Prices here are comparable to all the local Chinese restaurants but the quality, authenticity, and value is unsurpassed by the other Menlo Park Chinese restaurants. It is also Michelin recommended.

I think my expectations may have been too high. We went on a Friday night and were lucky enough to get seated right away(by the time we left there was a wait). We were immediately given a sugar fried snack and hot tea, which was excellent. After looking at the extensive menu, we decided to go with the 2 person dinner special. I LOVED the broth in the soup. The potstickers were the best I have ever had. The pork dish was delicious with just the right amount of spice. The kung pao chicken was only okay. The rice was great(strange, I know but it really was). Service was only okay. I definitely need to go back on a less busy day to fairly review it though. They messed up our bill, forgot part of our order, and had to be reminded to get us water. Very friendly though, just really busy!

My grandfather is originally from Szechuan province. Sometimes extended family gatherings seem like a competition to see who can pour the most hot sauce on her food. If the food is bright-red, has a very high hot-pepper-to-food ratio, or makes it so you can’t feel your mouth anymore, that’s what we call good food. So yes, Szechuan food is spicy. We like it that way. Consider yourself warned. Now onto the review. Fey is a really solid Szechuan restaurant in the South Bay. Here’s some of my family’s favorites: — Cold Noodle: Cold noodles in sesame sauce with cucumbers and small bites of meat. You need to get this. It’s spicy, flavorful, and delicious. — Twice-Fried Tofu: Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, this tofu dish isn’t spicy, but it’s still a treat. — Chongqing Chicken: Yes, it seems like there’s a 1:1 ratio of pieces of fried chicken to red peppers. That’s the point! — Dongpo Pork: A non-spicy dish, this is a huge cut of braised pork that’s slow-cooked to perfection. — Fuqifeipian: Literal translation: «sliced lung by the married couple.» What it actually is: thinly sliced beef and tripe in mouth-numbing Szechuan spices — Deep Fried Sweet Glutinous Rice filled with Red Bean: Ask for this if you want dessert. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, with a red bean paste that’s just the right amount of sweet to finish off your meal. On second thought, I probably should have taken pictures of each dish to go with this review, but no one has time for that when there’s amazing, mouth-numbing Szechuan food on the table!
