Menlo-Atherton Storage

I have been with Menlo-​Atherton Storage for two years now and have nothing but great things to say. When I first started shopping around, I called many places and every place I called had pushy salesmen who wouldn’t give me rates outright and were insisting on getting my phone number and email to follow up. I did not want to give out that information just for people to bother me! I found Menlo-​Atherton and immediately discovered that not only did they have the best rates around, it’s a family owned business. They are the nicest people and the security on this place is great.
It was what happened the other day that prompted me to write this review. I referred a co-​worker to Menlo-​Atherton storage. Yesterday I received a very personal, handwritten thank you card from the owner thanking me for the referral. How great is that? There are still businesses out there who care about their customers so much and are willing to do things like that. Not that I was planning on leaving but I am definitely a forever customer now.

I have moved once again– it’s the story of my life. This time I moved in with the boyfriend. Based on being in the middle of a career shift and the cost of housing in the Bay Area, this was the smartest option available. Moving into his house has actually created less of my own personal space and storage, hence why I found Menlo-​Atherton Storage to put most of my stuff.

We shopped around a bit and I have used other facilities in the past– this place, by far, has been the best I’ve ever come across. Joanne, the main office person, is a complete gem and pleasure to work with. Even when she scolded me for going over the 5 mph speed limit within the facility, she said it in a gentle and motherly way.
The security system is a combination of cameras, door sensors, alarms, gates/​codes, and German Shepards (a lot of them, I might add)! I don’t ever see any suspicious looking characters hanging around (except me), which I have seen at other storage businesses similar to this. It’s refreshing and to me means they keep a tight ship around there! I feel like my belongings and oh-​so-​sacred materials that I can’t seem to detach from are safe and sound.
I would highly recommend this storage facility to anyone that is shopping around! They are the best I know of in the area. A small family business that stays in your business and makes it difficult to be anonymous is a benefit to have in this environment and I give them a five star applaud across the board!

We use this storage unit for work, since it’s very near our office and we have a relationship with them now. We’ve used them for years, for short-​term leases (about 6 weeks at a time) and I’ve never had a problem. The staff in the office is very friendly and willing to answer all my questions, and the facility is accessible and clean. Thank God there’s a lift there for the upper-​level storage units!

They require advance notice for access with larger trucks or movers (which is sometimes hard to manage w/​long-​distance moves). In our case they made it very difficult for our 53-​foot trailer to even gain access. Seems like the facility is ideal for smaller storage users. The place is very secure and I’ll bet nothing leaves that isn’t supposed to! I’d give them a chance again for smaller storage needs (things I could get in and out with my car or truck) but I’d look elsewhere if the scenario involved large trucks or professional movers.
