Rogan’s Shoes reminds me, in a way, of the family shoe store I worked for back in my high school and college days. Not completely, the days of the full service family shoe store are long gone.(Does anyone here remember Gallencamp, Kinney, Schiff, Thom McAn or Baker’s? I thought not.) Rogan’s does fit the self-service warehouse model, but unlike the big chains, Rogan’s is a family owned company based in Wisconsin, operating in four states. They offer a huge selection, they seem to have a complete inventory and if they don’t have what you need, they will find it at another store. In addition to the 32 brick and mortar stores, Rogan’s has a very complete website where you can order online. This is a new location, they carry a wide variety of lines, from economy based brands to higher end products. There are usually promotions or sales going on, too. As of this writing, the promotion is buy one pair, get a second pair half price. Some of the higher-end brands are excluded. You’ll find trainers, runners, deck shoes, dress shoes and a wide range of casual shoes and sandals. This location has very large selection of work shoes and boots, and a wide selection of safety toe shoes, something you don’t find in most store outlets. You’ll also find a large selection of findings and accessories: laces, shoehorns, polishes, saddle soap and other leather care products. You’ll also find a selection of athletic wear. The staff here is helpful but not intrusive, they know their inventory. The young lady who was assisting us seemed to anticipate our questions. She called another store to locate a size we needed and had it shipped to the store. We could have opted to have it shipped to our home, but did not exercise that option. I’m suitably impressed with Rogan’s Shoes. It’s as close to going Gallenkamping as I’ve been able to in decades!
