I stayed at the Chalet to meet up with family in nearby Cedarburg, a short 20 min drive. I was pleasantly surprised with the little gem of a motel. From the updated bathroom, which was immaculately clean and handy, to the thick towels, great mattress, microwave and little frig, everything was above the usual standard of this Non-chain motel. I would highly recommend and definitely stay here again. It is in a great location, and since I’m a walker, I was able to walk to nearby coffee shop, and mall.

Nice place! Rooms are clean and large enough. No breakfast, but there is a fridge and microwave atleast. Decent!

My entire extended family came up to Mequon for a death in the family. We stayed at the only hotel that had availability, the Chalet. The other reviews on this hotel are extremely generous. The truth is that this hotel is a nice quant place to lay your head but it definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel. The rooms are old and outdated. Only certain rooms come with and iron!!! I will say they the beds were extremely comfortable and clean! The breakfast is not nice or welcoming. The rooms still have actual keys and the doors are hard to open. It can get a little loud with all the people are walking the hallways. If you’re looking for luxury or semi luxury this is NOT the place for you.

The Chalet is the perfect little hideout when you’re looking for«little» and«hideout». Your room will not be a suite on the twelfth floor of the Milwaukee Hyatt(also a comfortable place to stay), though the Chalet does offer rooms on its second(of two) floors. Each room, whether you’re paying for the economy room or their larger suite-like room, will have a mini-fridge, a coffee maker, extra blankets, extra pillows, a sizeable tv, and plenty of space to stretch out and relax. While the motel straddles Port Washington Rd, it’s the freeway(43) that you hear; this is true for quite a few Mequon businesses, however, so when you’re in the area you get used to it. Despite its proximity to major thoroughfares, the Chalet always feels cozy and safe. The Chalet is nearly immediate to a Walgreens, multiple restaurants, multiple grocery stores, a hospital, and a cinema. Bayshore Town Center, a sprawling, soul-sucking monster of a mall which offers an experience antithesis to anything as relaxing as the Chalet, is also nearby. Oh well, that can be forgiven. An economy-priced room, perfect for a traveling couple, will not cost you more than $ 70 and you will find yourself in a comfortable area filled with things to do. Having stayed in both their economy-priced rooms and the rooms priced for higher luxury, I can truthfully say NOTHING has ever felt dirty or «used», and I honestly prefer their economy rooms. Why? «Economy» at the Chalet equals MUCH more personality and charm than«luxury». A pillow-top mattress pad is much less cool than a bright aqua bathroom with a California-King walk-in shower. Ladies, some rooms have hair dryers, some don’t … so you should be able to request a room with one. During my stays at the Chalet I have troubled the front desk personnel numerous times for numerous purposes. Once, I needed a cork screw, so the woman at the front desk tracked it down from the last motel guest who borrowed it, and brought it to my room. On another occasion, I had discovered a mama red-breasted robin nesting in the rain gutters built into the overhang above our room(!!!). So I talked the front-desk-lady into following me so she could take pictures. She also let me hang a sign so that others wouldn’t disturb the Nesting Robin Family. My favorite memories of the Chalet include ordering Toppers pizza as late as they will deliver it. There’s a reason they deliver to Mequon and offer a pizza called The Hangover Helper. Another favorite memory includes sitting outside of my room in a plastic deck chair, smoking cigarettes, and watching lightning split the sky. The rain came down in buckets but my companion and I were very comfortably sheltered by the overhang above our room. When we went inside, we were delighted to find that our room’s windows(likely last updated in the 1960s) still opened. We fell asleep with open windows and the rain lulling us to dreaming. I appreciate having the option at the Chalet to enjoy affordable, retro personality. I also dig the owners passing along savings to their guests. I don’t mind the omission of a flat screen tv hidden behind the doors of a rich mahogany entertainment center, but I know plenty of others who may need this. Both forms of hospitality are available at the Chalet. WIFI is not optional for me, though. That’s going too far. THANKGOD the Chalet offers free WIFI.

This is a local, small town motel… so if you are looking for something such as the Hilton this is not your hotel. I admit, I was a bit leary of staying here because of the price, however, I did have to stay for 2 weeks in Mequon so ultimately the price was the reason I stayed here. The rooms are very, very clean and cozy. There are fridges, microwaves and a small coffee pot in the rooms. Remember your blow dryer because there is not one in the room. Front desk staff is prompt and very friendly. Ample parking and it is right next door to a restuarant Señor Sol(I actually did not go, I bought grocerys instead). Very quiet! I would definitely come back and stay here again!
