Maggie hooked me up with a beautiful hairstyle for my photos taken today, got a lot of great compliments on my hair, she always does a great job

She is absolutely amazing with cuts. Coloring on the other hand, I am extremely upset. I talked to her about it being my first time coloring my hair and I don’t want any excessive bleaching or anything too dramatic. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, a dark auburn balayage, but the ending result looked nothing like it. She basically bleached my whole head and left a few strands of black with ALOT of red highlights. My hair was basically red. I just ended up getting my hair dyed back to black somewhere else. I really regret that my whole head was basically bleached and I can’t go back.

For hair cuts, she did fine, however, when I went to her about a year ago for balayage with photos of what I wanted, I walked out extremely unhappy. We discussed what I was looking for beforehand, and she did not give me balayage highlights. I was left with what looked like a dip-​dyed sorry attempt at ombré and no toner used on my bleached hair. I’m brunette and it looked awful. I ended up paying someone else to fix it and have not gone back to Maggie.

I found Maggie through Unilocal,and after reading all her reviews I have to say that I was not disappointed. I came in to correct an ugly ombré job gone wrong… she was able to blend and lighten my orange/​copper hair to a beautiful blonde. She was super friendly, and personable and explained what she was doing throughout the entire experience. She also gave me tips on how to care for my hair after treatment. She even managed to cut a one of her regulars hair while she was waiting for my hair to finish lightening. Can’t say enough good things about her, just awesome. I will definitely be back.

I called and was able to go and get my hair done on the same day. Maggie did an AMAZING job on my hair. She is super friendly.
I had a rough idea of what I wanted and I showed her a picture and she went with it, what she delivered was way more than I ever expected. She spent 4 hours on my hair but I didn’t mind at all, she was super patient and attentive to my hair the entire time. I will definitely go back for any hair needs I have.

I went in with long hair that had many colors and came out with a fabulous hairdo. Maggie was very friendly and attentive to my needs. I love my new haircut and color. It is exactly what I envisioned after cutting 10 inches off. I’m glad I found my new spot in Merced.

Maggie is great! She took the time to make sure I knew what I wanted. Since I was cutting off 12 inches of hair to donate, she wanted to make sure every little detail was what I truly wanted and gave me a great haircut. She is a fantastic hairstylist and I will be definitely coming back for touch ups.

Maggie is a truly talented hair dresser, she’s amazing. Living an extremely active lifestyle through yoga, dancing and travel I need a hairstylist I can rely on. I’ve been to numerous hairdressers from southern Ca. To northern Ca. and nobody has nailed it like Maggie in Merced! Not only her extension technique but her coloring skills that make the extensions look completely natural and blend perfectly with my own hair. This summer I traveled Europe where I was in 105 degree weather and swam in salt water seas. I went here looking for a new hair dresser and Maggie is it! I messed up my hair color and she made it right.
Defiantly will be going here from now on

I live in SF and needed an appt. for my son who would be going to prom here in Chowchilla. I found Maggie on Unilocal!She had great reviews so I thought let’s give it a shot! She totally outdid herself and if I could give more then 5 stars I would! Thank you Maggie for helping in making my Son’s Prom night that much more memorable! We will definitely be back and refer all our Family & Friends!

I looked to Unilocal to help me find a quality hair stylist in Merced. I have to say, I was sorely let down. I wanted to like this place. I really really did. I’m hoping she was just having an off-​day but my hair will take months to try and repair the damage done to it. She did mention a few times that she was tired.
First off, for those who use Unilocal’s deal ($ 85 for $ 110,) don’t do it. I did it and when I presented it to her, she didn’t accept them. Thankfully, I had money to pay for the service. She did honor the price, however, but still, annoying and unprofessional. I didn’t deduct any stars from that though as it could be a business vs. Unilocal thing, but just giving a forewarning to avoid any hassles with any one else that tries to do this. I had to contact Unilocal and ask for a refund of $ 85. They stated they would do this, so all should be fine, but it is a hassle.
Now, for the service. I called and made an appointment for 2 pm. I was there at 2 pm and she took me in a timely manner. Good start. I explained what I was looking for and she seemed to grasp it with minimal questioning. (I asked for my hair to be jet black and for the ends to be a dark bright blue. I used a hair swatch she had available at her station for reference.) My hair was very long: about down to my hips. She «dry cut» off a good portion, but still kept it long. She then thinned it out using what seemed to be some sort of razor comb. Hurt like hell, but no complaints. So far so good.
She dyed my hair black, not dyeing the tips since they were to be bleached and made blue anyway. She appeared to do a good job with this bit.
While my hair was processing, she took on another client. Her husband, I believe.
After the black was rinsed out, she started applying the bleach to my hair. She stated she used a lower concentration so that she could leave it in longer. She bleached the ends and put me under the dryer for an extended amount of time.
During this time, she took another client.
I’m not familiar with bleaching, so I took her word for everything on how it worked. Little did I know that my bleached ends, covered in foil, and sitting under the dryer for what may very have been pretty close to 45 min-​hour ended up damaging my hair beyond repair.
The hair wasn’t even really bleached. There were swirls of bleachy parts and my normal very dark brown hair. I was hoping the color would fix it anyway and didn’t realize the fried damage until much later.
She then applied the blue. She stuck me back underneath the dryer for a while for processing and rinsed it out.
Not a single strand of my bleach-​fried hair was anything remotely close to that blue. Not one. It was more a mix of teal and dingy sea-​pond-​moss green. Also, she missed a huge spot of bleach where my hair was actually more of a pink color. She apparently missed another spot which I never really saw because she applied blue dye to it after it was all rinsed out already and never rinsed it out again. I knew already that this wasn’t really what I wanted, but I have a problem speaking up… and I had already been there for 4 hours. I told her to curl it since it would help cover up the mistakes and so I could go.
At that point, I was so disheartened and even more disheartened to learn that the black part wasn’t really even black. In a different light, I could find all sorts of brown. I’ve done a better job using Feria by myself.
She offered for me to come back and «put more emphasis» on the blue, but I already knew I was disappointed and that my hair did not look healthy. (I didn’t realize just HOW unhealthy until I got home.) Then there was the whole Unilocal deal that went sour. I tipped my normal 20% (it was a loooong process and definitely a lot of work, even if it did ruin my hair and not at all what I wanted.)
I then made an appointment with Caylin at Ulta Salon in Turlock, and another $ 150 later, my hair is still damaged (can’t expect miracles,) but it looks the way I want and it looks a lot healthier than before.
I honestly can’t comment much on the cut job that Maggie did due to the fact that I had the Ulta appointment done almost immediately afterwards and I never let my hair «uncurl» from the initial style/​color by Maggie. However, my stylist did mention that she would have to cut my hair again since it was uneven. I will say that Maggie seemed to breeze through it very quickly. I thought it was because she was masterful… apparently, I was wrong. I left the cut aspect neutral though in regards to ratings because I cannot truthfully rate it fairly.
All the other reviews gave her 5 stars so I was excited to find a stylist in Merced that would be good. Perhaps she is just not very good with color? At either rate, don’t let your hair get fried like mine. I am now a little bit more knowledgeable about the process and I think having her put me under the dryer for so long while bleaching killed it. You’ve been warned.

Looking for a stylist can be a daunting task when your not from this area and visiting for an extended period… but Unilocal helped me find Maggie and she is a gem. She paid attention to my request and I came out looking like the NEW me I needed .thanks Maggie my color/​highlights and cut looks great!!!

I did a search on Unilocal and found Maggie. Coming from a history of hair disasters and moving from the East Coast with 3 months worth of grown out hair, Maggie made me feel good again and got my hair under control. She took what my previous stylist did and did an awesome job! I will be going to Maggie to do color next time as she does Pravana color and she said she loves bright colors. I’m glad I read the reviews. I’m also impressed that she used the razor on my hair to get the style I was looking for instead of thinning shears like other stylists have used. It shows her true art as a stylist. Thank you Maggie!

Maggie did an amazing job I had dyed red hair and she took me to blonde and she was just simply amazing from start to finish and she made me look fabulous again

I went to Maggie today in need of someone to save my hair! I had stripped it myself (not very well) and I was afraid to dye it due to its uneven tones throughout. I called this morning and Maggie was able to fit me in today. Maggie took a good look at my hair and knew exactly what we needed to do in order to get it just the way I wanted it. After hours of work, I couldn’t be happier with the result! I am so very impressed with the job she did, that I have, without a doubt, found my new hairdresser!

I went to Maggie to get a haircut, loved it! I found her on Unilocal.Not alot of people cut my hair right, but she did. Was shocked what she charged me for my hair cut n style… every where i would go, would charge me an arm n leg lol… i have long, super thick hair. I would recommend her to anyone.
Ill be going in soon for a change of color.

We found Maggie through Unilocal,and we could not be any happier with her. Maggie is very personable, when I came in she shook my hand and introduced herself. I could tell right away with just the way she set up she knew what she was doing. She took her time doing my hair and didn’t make me feel she was in a rush. Go to Maggie, you won’t be disappointed.

Maggie’s considerable talent and artistic eye ensured that I received an outstanding haircut. After showing my mom, who lives out of town, the result of Maggie’s hair cut and color, she responded with «If I were closer to Maggie, I’d go see her!» Now I’m looking forward to having her help me with hair style preparations for my sister’s upcoming wedding.

Maggie did my hair for both a rehearsal dinner (curley) and a wedding last weekend (straight) and I love what she did with my hair! It stayed nice all day and in fact, I am still sporting the straight style that she did on me Saturday! She is a sweet lady and I enjoyed working with her. Thanks, Maggie!
