I would give them five stars but the women who answers is extremely rude. Shes so rude that i just hung up today and made the decision to never order anything from them again. I dont care how good your food is, if you dont know how to treat customers you aint getting none of my money! Ever! She needs to stop answering the phone. All she does is scream «what do you want?!» What a shame.

Used to really enjoy coming here for lunch, quick, cheap, delicious… I don’t know what happened, maybe change of ownership, the service staff has definitely changed. Decided to try them again and got the same horrible service. 30 minutes from ordering and still do not have food as people around me are being served that were seated and ordered AFTER I’ve ordered. The service here has really gone down hill. This is not based on one visit, this has become the norm here.

Honestly, New China Café is good and all. But when it comes to the employees, they get pushed around a lot. The lady who owns the place yells at her waitresses in FRONT of the customers. I just find it so uncomfortable eating there when the Chinese lady is literally be littling her own new waitress trainings. Seems like she doesn’t even know how to run and train them correctly. She’s so rude, and acts nice when theres customers, but if you really pay attention she’s mean and no matter how good the food is there, her bad treatment to her waitress and employees just ruins my mood on going to eat there!

Very decent and reasonable food and for a reasonable price. One of the two good Chinese places to eat in the Merced area. Nothing fancy or outrageous, but well worth the money. Fairly good selection on the menu. Good service, reasonable wait time. Clean and comfortable seating, big enough to be seated when you get there. Never have had to wait to sit down.

Food is great have been going here for years. I read it this A3 because the people used to be really friendly. Lately the pirate new staff and they are rude. The people who answer the phone or extremely rude and when you go in they have also been rude. I have noticed lately they have family that goes there and sits to eat while the ignore everybody else they sit down with them sometimes even their kids and they collect the people that are at the restaurant this is happened also. I love their food their prices are OK but please teach your stuff to be more professional and not so rude to your customers.

First of all, it says online that they close at 10, so at 8:30, my friend and I went in to eat. We ordered the orange chicken and Thai fish specials. The fried rice was not good and it was cold. The chowmein was also very oily. At one point, a mosquito was flying around me and unfortunately decided to dive into my food. Due to all the oil, the mosquito was stuck ON my food and I tried calling a waitress over. She came, grabbed the mosquito with a napkin off my plate, then just left. I wasn’t willing to eat the food anymore at that point. A few minutes later, another waitress came and asked whether I wanted them to make me a new plate or just cancel it because the kitchen was already closed. -.-’ SO I told her in that case, she can just cancel it because I only had a few bites. She then goes to the cash register to get the tab ready but the waitress who took the mosquito off, came by and they started talking in a foreign language. The bad waitress then comes with the tab and explained that they’ll just give me half off because it didn’t get in my food. I was okay with paying the half price but I just wanted to explain to her that it was indeed in my food because she approached me with attitude. She couldn’t speak English so she called ANOTHER waitress who came and said it’s not their problem because it was flying around and ended in my food. She said she went to Applebee’s and there was a fly in her food but they told her it’s not their problem and she still had to pay for it. Okay? It’s not like I wasn’t willing to pay for it, I just wanted them to get the facts straight. Not to mention, she said I got «half off», I actually had to pay $ 2 more than half, but it wasn’t worth fighting for. Overall, bad customer service and the food’s really not good.

This place is great. Other then the location, there are always homeless around the area… I go here often with my family the food is always fresh and hot. Servers for the most part are okay. Nothing special. Will continue to come here.

Very good and inexpensive Chinese food… Large portions… Last visit had beef chow fun with gravy and bok choy, very good… Usually order beef or BBQ pork with tofu (soft) over rice however they were out of tofu… Can’t go wrong here!

Drove south today to visit the New China… Orange Chicken with pork chow mein crispy noodle… It had been nearly two years since our last visit. generous portions at a reasonable cost. food was neither bad or great. nice peoplle

Food is great, cheap, large portions. But the service isn’t that great. They pick and choose what customers to be nice to. It’s really irritating. But if you are hungry enough and don’t care about the service at the time, yes recommended.

Huge portions for a decent price and the chow mein is very yummy! Definitely a great find!

This place look like a small hole in the wall but damn was I surprised their food was amazing and prices dirt cheap. No wonder they rated high on Unilocal.Good find and highly recommended.

Place was busy and service is very slow. I had to get my own menu & waited very long for our order.

The food was great, i didnt care for the egg roolls or the crab poofs but everything else was awesome. So much food and priced really good too. I cant wait to go back!

The food is great here but if you drive past and see that its a full house, dont dine in. we literally waited for a good hour and no food yet. I dont think this place is equipped with enough cooks or cooking equipment in the kitchen to handle such a large amount of guests. next time i see a large crowd Im gonna keep on driving.

I was Rolling around Merced in my Whip Black Beauty, taking care of Business.
I was a little hungry so I Checked my Unilocal Mobile App and New China Café popped up .So I rolled there and I parked Black Beauty in their Private lot.
I rolled in and was Greeted and Seated and Presented a Menu. I Perused the Menu.
I could hear the Iron Chef in the Kitchen Woking the Orders of Food.
They have a lot of Dinner Specials. I Ordered — Asparagus Beef, Pork Chow Mein HK Style, Pork Fried Rice and a Spring Roll. This Special came with a Bowl Of House Soup.
I also Ordered Watermelon Juice as a Beverage and it was very refreshing.
My Bowl Of House Soup came first. It was Egg Drop Tofu Soup. It was Hot and Seasoned perfectly. Very Tasty.
Next out was the Fried Spring Roll and the Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce. The Spring Roll was fresh out the Fryer. It was Nice and Crispy. I enjoyed Munching out on it.
Last but not Least was my Combination Plate. The Asparagus Beef was perfect. It was cooked in Black Bean Sauce. Yum Yum. The HK Style Pork Chow Mein and Pork Fried Rice was good too.
The Booths at New China Café are Very Comfortable. My Waitress was very Attentive and quite Cute.
I paid by Discover Card and rolled out.

There was a ROCK in the asparagus chicken black bean plate! My friend almost broke a molar! And all the waitress said was hmm. let me show my manager. Not an apology or anything. I mean, come on, a ROCK? That’s just gross and unheard of.
The wait was pretty long for our food with only 4 others there. Props for bringing a soup we ordered and bringing 3 bowls to share w/​out us asking and she served us. They didn’t charge us for the one plate.
Won’t be back.
That was the only positive thing.
