I have been coming to this place for years and the food is always consistently delicious and fresh! You’ve got to try the crispy eggplant, the plum sauce is to die for! The décor could use an update, but don’t let how it looks put you off! The service is quick and friendly, the pair who run this place are very kind and professional(and always have great suggestions!) All in all love this place, not so much the pink table cloths lol.

I like their vegi-beef and broccoli with side of rice. I totally recommend this to anyone especially Vegetarians. This is one of few places where they have more to offer

Went to go try this place for the first time during lunch hour special. I ordered the sweet and sour pork with chowmein on the side. When my food came out, I took the first bite on the chowmein and as I was twirling the fork on my chowmein i noticed that there was a freaking nasty COCKROACH laying upside down dead mixed with my chowmein. Very disgusting!!! I removed my plate immediately to the side and the waitress came and I pointed to her with a disgusting face! She then took the plate away and went to go replace a new one, who knows what she might had just removed the Roach and put my same food in a new plate. Please be careful when eating and check your food. At least I didn’t get to pay for the plate.

I love coming here for lunch. They have the best prices. I would recommend the asparagus chicken with the spicy garlic sauce and the tangerine chicken. They are really quick. I always get food to go!

The food was pretty good. Had the sweet and sour prawns and they were pretty good. Only complaint was the waiter seemed to pushy with us choosing our order as though we were being rushed. The waiter was also not to helpful on recommendations and details on menu entrees.

We went there before a show at Merced Theater. We got an order of the sizzling rice soup, pot stickers and mu shoo pork. I didn’t try the pot stickers, not my thing, but the soup and mu shoo were great! Not much for portions on the mu shoo though, if we go back we’ll get a double order.

Previous reviews about not having high expectations was correct. Appetizers were overcooked. We had the bo-bo platter. The potstickers were burnt, the crab rangoon was tasted like it was twice fried. The steamed rice tasted like it had sat in the cooker all day and was reheated. The honey walnut shrimp was not the best I’ve ever had but not the worst. The tangerine beef was more crispy coating than beef. We were seated immediately and several people came in for take out while we there. The waitress was friendly.

Really should be 2.5 stars, but… Well a previous review stated«If you don’t expect much» and that’s pretty accurate. We entered and waited about 4 –5 minutes to be seated. There was a odd, oily smell in the air(cooking?) that I don’t recognize and every thing, walls, furniture seemed to be yellowed and coated. So Dated. There appeared one waitress/owner and a teen-age son sitting at the front register staring at his i-Pod the entire night. We walked in at 7 pm and received our appetizer at 7:45 so we weren’t in a hurry. I would say the dining room was ¾ths full. Food, we had the Garlic sauce pork and the Black Pepper Beef. Positive was the Black Pepper Beef, good taste and unusual black sauce, but a bit too salty(would be fine for most people). Garlic sauce Pork was(I love garlic) a bit too much and salty as well. Most would not notice the salt as I am on a low sodium if possible. Food was hot. Thats a positive. Waitress was very busy, but asked you staccato questions like the«Soup Nazi» on Sinefield. The funny thing was, the Teen boy sat there or wandered around, and the phone kept ringing though the night. Sometimes the caller stayed on to go to answering machine. Finally a couple came in and ordered take out and said;” Your phone isn’t working”. As they waited, the phone rang again and they said;“well, I guess you phone isn’t broken”. Kinda hard to believe a business has people go to such lengths to hand them money? Don’t think I’ll be back.

My wife and I tried the egg flower soup and the Chinese chicken salad first and loved them both. The soup had fresh tomatoes, tofu and some greens and very hearty. We had sweet and sour chicken and the lamb and mixed vegetables as our entrée and loved both of them. There aren’t many Chinese food restaurants we enjoy in the Merced area but this one is the best one. I read a prior review about the smell and disagree and we did dine in. I also read the one about the greasy food and I’m not an expert but as far the Chinese food restaurants I’ve been to, it’s a given that there will be greasy dishes. Great Prices for the large portions. I’m a new Unilocaler but since I explore various restaurants I thought I’d start helping the restaurants I thought were legitimately good mom and pap places and warn people about others.

The restaurant itself looked all right. It felt as if you were right at home. But the problem was the location or the decoration, it was the food. I had the sweet and sour chicken, and although it was okay I tasted better. As soon as we ordered, the food came out in a matter of minutes, most Chinese Restaurants I’ve been to, on a busy day or not, usually took longer. The rice also tasted old, as if it was made the day before and they just warmed it up right when we ordered. Their service was pretty good, but there wasn’t anyone there when we arrived. I can say, for the most part, I won’t be coming back here again. There’s other restaurants near by which people should go to instead.

This is a restaurant located in a home. That being said, the atmosphere is still quiet and clean. They have very good deals and friendly service. I got the honey walnut shrimp and it was delicious, with large servings of shrimp. I would recommend for an affordable lunch/dinner.

This place is cute and homey. I am from the Bay Area and this place is alright. The food wasn’t that great but still edible. It wasn’t good but it wasn’t bad. I would come every once in a while.

Seems like this place used to be a lot better a few years ago. My boyfriend and I went a couple of months ago and were really disappointed with the food. My boyfriend ordered the sweet and sour pork and said that it tasted like it wasn’t fresh(it was a bit cold) and that they just poured the sweet and sour sauce over it. He said it tasted weird. Our pot stickers were overcooked. I ordered the garlic chicken, and they gave me all the fatty pieces of meat. It did not taste that great either. It was also awkward because one of the staff was sitting at the table next to us with everything sprawled out, preparing what looked like to be food for the week. Not good, and we won’t be back.

Nope… this food was soooo greasy, I could barely eat it. I got take out lunch special there, so yes, you get what you pay for, but geez, I never saw Chinese food so greasy. The lady that waited on me was a bit weird, no friendliness ATALL. Go the Thai Cuisine down on 16th St instead… I know I will from now on

Love this place. This place is one of the few, if not only, restaurants in Merced that has meat substitutes for you non-meat eaters. They have a wide selection of tasty delights for everyone. Their lunch specials are off the chain and beeeeyond affordable. The service is speedy and friendly. I would definitely recommend this spot to my fellow, broke, UC Merced-ians =)

hidden gem in Merced one of the few great chinese restaurants in Merced I love love love all their food; it’s super authentic and hole-in the wall good chinese food. My friend ordered the crackling rice soup and it was fun to hear it pop. I’ve never eaten it before but I found it fun and interesting… The waitress has minimal english skills but she is wonderful. If you speak to her in chinese, she will help you get all the yummy dishes! It’s definitely hole in the wall; upstairs and downstairs. with lots of round tables to sit in big groups. THISISSUCH A GEM because the food is cheap, authentic and because not alot of people know of this place; you won’t get all these rowdy college/hs students. Also, you find many chinese people here. Great food! yum! the restaurant looks like a house

If you want good Chinese food don’t look for it here! Everything is just a little less tasty than Panda Express. And that is just terrible. Soda in a can with odd tasting ice in a glass is the first thing you experience. Appetizers are always over cooked. Jalapeño Beef is the best dish they have, when I go I will only eat that. It is another place we are forced to go for family gatherings because they can hold a large crowd and are super cheap. But why the pink table cloths? I will never understand this!

Been here with my parents and the food is kind of disappointing. They gave old rice and my parents was not happy at all. I would like to give this place another try. The place is located in a neighborhood area and it is actually a house that they turned into a restaurant.
