They’re pretty slow with takeout orders and skimp on the meat (broccoli beef only had about 5 pieces of beef) but the food does taste good. The chow mein and happy family are always decent.
*They really do need a name change

Misunderstood me when I said CHICKEN FRIED RICE.
I don’t know how you get that confused with STEAMED RICE.
Chicken was hard to chew & broccoli was not cooked (so don’t expect it to be soft)
& to top it off I paid a good price $$ for this.

The waitress asked us if we wanted to pay the check separately or together even before we ordered, what the heck? Thai tea tasted bad, there was nothing thai about it, there was like 2 ice cubes that were already melting, it tasted like leftovers. The egg fried rice was so dry, barely had an egg, and was probably microwaved. The combo plate no. 9 was bland, where was the bbq pork? Not to mention that our waitress took her break to eat in the restaurant at the same time she was serving us. Would not recommend this place at all. Would not go back.

I LOVE this place– seriously the best Chinese food in Merced. The staff is really nice too. The woman who runs the restaurant is really nice and always remembers our favorite dishes. Having good food is always great but when you get great service as well it makes it even more worth it.
I recommend trying the honey walnut shrimp and the shangai chow mein. Really great place to eat!

The fact that this business is family ran makes it that much better! I’ve know this family since I was a baby they use to own you Chang market across town by what now is «rancho San Miguel». I love the food it’s so yummy! Glad to see they have made a comeback and now own another loacak family business –good luck to you

Prices too high for take out especially when there is very little meat. Broccoli beef was almost all broccoli so we basically paid $ 10 for a box of cooked broccoli. Other dishes we ordered, like pork chow mein, were almost all noodles with little meat. Seems they are trying to increase profits by raising prices but economizing on their ingredients maybe will work short-​term, but is a death spiral for restaurants. Won’t go back.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! The food is always DELICIOUS and the owners/​staff are AMAZING. I am always greeted with a smile that is followed by a DELICIOUS meal. P. S. Try their garlic chicken; it is personally my favorite!

I have been coming to this place for Chinese food ever since it opened, and I have to say, the chow mein is delicious, My boyfriend loves the food here as well, and the customer service I receive is wonderful. The waitress really recognizes faces and gets to know You, asks how You are doing, etc. I have never gotten bad food from this place, and even though bugs may get inside as other reviewers have mentioned, all that’s needed is a good pest spray around the building. I haven’t seen flies in My food, and I’ve eaten here for over a year. Love this place, love the service, love the food.

My roommate is always ordering from this place since they deliver and she doesn’t like egg flower soup so she always gives them to me when she orders from them. I love their egg flower soup it’s really good but the last time I ate one of their egg flower soups there was a fly inside the container. Now I don’t think the fly got into the soup while in my house because the container was never opened while in the house until I tried to eat but found that horrible thing inside it. That just say’s a lot about how they handle their food. The person that was pouring the soup in was not even paying attention that a fly was in the soup how disgusting! I will never ever order from this play and my roommate has also stopped ordering from them. They cooks and servers need to pay more attention at the food!

I would give this place five stars but it is too pricey for the amount of food you get (in my opinion). Other than that I loved the fried rice, chow mein and eggrolls, so good! I also tried the double mushroom chicken but did not really like it.
The waitress (maybe owner?) was very nice! I honestly would give this place less stars if it wasn’t for her friendliness. The boba in my Thai tea was hard and without having to ask she offered to replace it with other boba. Even though it was still hard, it was nice of her to replace it.

Waitress was nice and friendly. Didn’t have a strong accent either which was nice. Restaurant looked clean and up to date. The spring roll was good. I’m allergic to gluten and wanted soup and the soup I wanted was a cream based soup, minced chicken with sweet corn. They made it without the flour and it tasted excellent still. Will come back again.

This was my first time here at Tokyo Don. The place is clean and spacious, good for meetings. The owner was really friendly, I saw her played with a customer’s little girl at the next table.
The food was decent. My boyfriend and I ordered combination plates, #8 (wonton rangoon, spawns with vegetable and BBQ pork fries rice) and #2 (egg roll, BBQ pork fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken). They were not the best but I like how they were not overly seasoned.

Great service. Clean dining area. Friendly staff. Our waiter made sure we had everything at all times and chatted us up. Quality food that was made fresh to order, my salt and pepper squid was delectable and crispy with just a kick of spice. Then came the crispy chicken which tantalized my taste buds the moment the unctuous and intoxicating crispy skin of the chicken made contact with my tongue. My order wasn’t cheap but that’s because I went for the crème de la crème of chinese comfort food and got for more than what I paid for.
