Wanted to have a warm sandwich so I decided to drive to this Subway branch. Review was awful but gave it a shot since the other subways I’ve been to were good and polite. Not this one! Service was quick considering I was the only customer. Server was a young man in his teens and wasn’t well in English so communication was slightly hard but it’s ok I got through it. The other one, a Hispanic woman had an angry tone to her voice and sounded rude when she spoke to me. She made me feel uncomfortable. Thank goodness my food was to go! Never gonna come back here if it were the last open place to grab a bite in Mercer Island!

I tried to call in to pre-order sandwiches. The person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about and was not friendly. I don’t think the person spoke English well. In any case I’m not clear if they will take a pre-order for sandwiches. I’ve been in a few times and every time I feel the sandwich makers are reluctant to put on extra vegetables. In general my experience with this store is very poor customer service. I’d rather pay the same $ and go to Qdoba across the street.

Despite the negative reviews, I had a pretty positive experience. Employee was friendly, sandwich was good. Only complaint is that they didn’t have any tea brewed. I’d go back

Bring back the original owners! We stopped eating at this dirty subway! We go all the way to Eastgate or Bellevue on main st. if we want a sandwich. Staffneeds to be trained better. But most of all this place is DIRTY&UNCLEAN!

It would be a 2.5 if available but I’m rounding down for the below average customer service. I get that it’s a fast food chain so it is what it is, but I only go there now when it feels like I have no other option. You will have to repeat your order a few times no matter who is helping you, they seem more focused on their conversations with each other than making sure the attend to the customers. It’s Subway, you get what you get.

I just don’t like this place. I don’t like it at all. I dropped by this location a few times to get lunch on the go and it was always bad. I ordered a turkey, bacon, avocado and the girl forgot to add the avocado so before she wrapped it up I mentioned it to her. She took the sandwich and smeared the avocado on the outside of the turkey, didn’t even bother to open the bread up and put it on.

The worst subway experience I have ever had. I usually love Subway for a quick sandwich stop, but the single employee working today was not charismatic at all and seemed a bit out of it. We had to ask for the second drink cup we were charged for — she had only given us one at the counter. She also quickly put my sandwich in the toasting oven without asking my preference — I did not want it toasted. As for the food, the meatballs and lunch meat were both tasteless. On top of that, none of the veggies were fresh — wilted lettuce and off-colored tomatoes being the worst offenders. We were trying to be healthy today, but we’ll make a different fast food sandwich choice next time, even if we have to go off the island to do so.

Talk about a disappointment. Tried their Flatizza and it was nothing like the advertised picture, should have known. Ordered the pepperoni and spicy the«artist» barely place enough sauces to cover the bread then the toppings, meaning sliced in half pepperoni and salami to barely covered the flat bread. Then she dumped handful of cheese on top so when it was heated, not all the cheese melted. Was a mess and not very appetizing to look at. No spices or pepper or anything for flavor, bland. Worst $ 8 have every spent at Subway ugh.

Does a subway really need a review? That’s like debating a McDonald’s menu. I wish this was a Jersey Mikes. I’ll give somebody a dollar to burn this down and build one.

Update: In addition to the review below, I also sent a note to Subway Corporate to inquire about the corporate standard recipe versus the photo. Unfortunately, those get routed to the franchisee and are not reviewed by corporate. The good news is the owner of the Mercer Island franchise did call me back within a few days of my email to Subway Corporate. He was a very nice man. He explained that he had watched the video the employees making the pizzas and could confirm that they made them per the Corporate Standard Recipe. So now we know that the way they are supposed to make the pizzas is nothing like how Subway Corporate shows the pizzas. It’s a clear case of false advertising… but the franchise can’t take any action with Corporate. I also spoke with the owner about the spinach issue. He said it should not happen… unless it’s a Wednesday night… they get a new batch of spinach on Thursday so if it were to run out it would be on a Wednesday. I’m adding two stars back to this review(from 1 to 3) because the franchise owner took the time to review the situation in detail and called me back directly. That’s a great customer service response. — Subway has been at this location for a long time. Yet, they can’t seem to get their act together. Something is always wrong here. I’ll skip all of the things I’ve experienced in the past… This location is often out of spinach. I now have to check that they have spinach before I can place my order. Too many times I’ve got to the veggies and they have been out. It really happens far too much. This weekend I went in and was undecided. Then I saw these«new» 6″ flatbread pizza squares. They looked great on the menu… flatbread piled at least 1″ high with meat, cheese, and sauce. In fact, I ordered two of them. But as I saw how they were making them, I decided I needed to order a sandwich as a back-up. And thank goodness I did. When I got to checkout, I saw them pull the pizzas out of the oven and put them into the boxes. They were the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen. They had smeared some sauce on a piece of flatbread, tossed a small amount of cheese on it, then put four pieces of pepperoni on the top. Compared to the photo, this was unacceptable… actually, it was really quite absurd. Yeah, I get it, it’s just a Subway… I shouldn’t expect much. But they were so far off from the advertised photos that I had to tell them I could not buy them. When I told the Hispanic women that the items they had prepared for me did not look anything like the photos on the menu, they didn’t understand. I’m not sure if they didn’t understand English well enough to get it, or if they were playing dumb, but it was annoying, to say the least. To top it all off, when I got home I noticed that the spinach on my sandwich was starting to rot and I had to get rid of the sandwich. This Subway location needs corporate attention. Or please just go away so a different sandwich shop can take your place.

This place is unsanitary. I saw a male employee taking money at the register with plastic glove on and proceeding to make a sandwich for the next customer without changing the glove! Eating that sandwich would be like licking money. I will be eating here no more.

I find that I usually eat at subway the most during the season of Lent, because it is the quickest and easiest place to get a decent tuna sandwich. This Subway has nice employees, but limited seating. It is clean and in a good location.

This place does not honor the national sales. You’ll end up paying more here for a sandwich. Employees horsing around to much. could carless about customers. Food is fresher at other Subways… Eastgate Subway is way better and cheaper.

They are stingy, rude, dirty, gross, i have absolutely nothing positive to say about this location. The staff should find new work, i would be embarrassed to have them on my staff. But as far as i can tell the manager doesn’t care either, because when you complain nothing changes and he is always just busy helping himself to sandwiches with his bare hands. You are the worst!

Subway is Subway. I won’t comment on the food so much because Subway has been around for decades and there are Subways all over the place. Generally the food is the same everywhere. So, this review is based solely on the service and setup of this particular location. We went at noon on a Saturday. It was extremely busy. We were surprised. They were not quite staffed properly for the level of business and/or the staff was not handling the rush as efficiently as I have seen it done at other Subway’s at the same level of being so busy. Also, due to how busy it was, tables were not being cleaned between customers. They did not put everything I asked for on my sandwich. Upon checkout, they offered a bag but I had to ask for napkins. They only gave me two napkins when we had just purchased four sandwiches and chips, one of which was a meatball 12″. I had to ask for more, and the expression by the staff person was as though I was asking for more than anyone should get. In addition, this is one of the most poorly designed Subway counters I have ever seen. You walk down the counter to the register and end up boxed into a corner that requires the entire line behind you to back up so you can leave the space and the next customer can pay. If you want sweetener or coffee, you have to cut the line, wait until the current customer pays, hold up the line while you get your stuff and back the line up if they tried to squish in to keep paying and moving.

Sweet onion chicken teriyaki! The best sub choice here. I used to get the turkey breast and ham, but not anymore. I’ve tried their roast beef too… I’ve had better. Nothing is better than the SWEETONIONTERIYAKICHICKEN! It’s tangy, sweet, and moist! Layer it on top of honey oat bread, then slap on pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, olives, pickles, banana peppers, and sweet onion sauce… man oh man. Always get your sandwich toasted, it makes the cheese all melted and delicious. Trust me! Sizes come in 6 inch, or foot longs.(FIVEDOLLAFOOTLONG!) They have a specialty each day of the week, some kind of deal that I’m not very clear about. I also like their Italian herbs and cheese bread, very tasty. Cookies here are pretty good, chips are chips… I used to come here all the time for lunch… not so much anymore. I prefer Quiznos.(=

stopped in during the middle of a bike ride on a weekend day. the sub was good enough. they don’t have the same $ 5 footlongs as other places. maybe cuz the high rent costs. i ate a foot long and later on during a hill i semi felt like i was going to barf it all up. so full of jerad food and soda and powerade. it was saturday mid day and there were a ton of kids in there. not sure if that contributed to the fairly dirty tables and furniture.

I used to go to this subway all the time because I work on the Island. The staff is good and makes good sandwhiches but if the owner(older chubby guy) makes your sandwhich, you’d be hard pressed to get any veggies on your sandwhich. I asked for more veggies and he said he’d charge me extra. I told him I just wanted the normal amount I was used to getting not the two pieces of lettuce! I left so annoyed I stopped going for a good 6 months. Recently I went back with a co-worker and noticed he puts a little more veggies on my sandwhich but it’s still not the normal amount. If penny pinching on veggies is importnat to him, maybe his customers’ experiences are not.

This Subway location is excellent. It’s a small store, but it’s clean, and the people there make a good sandwich with a minimum of fuss, which is exactly what you want and expect at Subway. Their little dining area is really quiet; it’s a great place to sit and read the paper. It’s busy at lunchtime though; I like it best for dinner. I’m a huge fan of the untoasted Italian B.M.T. on wheat bread; get it with vinegar, oregano, and parmesan cheese for a real Italian taste.
