Ok, first at Sal’s. I got couple slices to go. The pizza is premade and served as slices when needed. Not sure how many pizzas they have premade but me and about 5 other people ordered at least 2 slices and all went out the door roughly same time. Anyway, I thought pizza was okay, sauce is sweeter than most places and the cheese is weird to look at, not bad tasting but I think they only use mozzarella cheese where most use a combo of cheese, so the cheese is melted just looks different. All in all I would go back for pizza. Come to think of it, every place I’ve had slices at most are premade and reheated. Also this place originated from Meriden Pizza if anyone remembers that.

Really surprised with the cheese calzone they have here. If you like ricotta cheese definitely the calzone for you! Really good and is big enough to share for two people. They were pretty quick too for take out. Doesn’t look like it would be that great with location, but would go back and order again.

Ok this is a first for me. My son and I stop there to try there pizza. So with caution I was not impress with first impression. The place show signs of sanitary concern. More like a lousy cleaning job. But I have found holes in the wall places that turned outstanding food. SO, I asked for one plain slice and I grabbed a can of soda and was asked if its to go or eat here. I said eat here. We are waiting and waiting and waiting and it appeared the pizza guy just remember to put my slice in. Now the slice is in the oven. So we are waiting and waiting and waiting and 10 min later they put my slice in a take out box even though I said I would eat it here. The box is passed to me and when I opened it I was amazed. I looked at my son and he said they forgot the cheese. It was a crust as thin as a dime. I am not joking and fresh sauce on top of what appeared to be old or already pre sauce. I told the server where is the cheese? He said you asked for a plain slice. So that is what I got, a plain slice. OMG! I looked at them and said, so your plain slice comes without cheese? That’s what you ordered. So with that said after my son paid 3.01 for this plain slice and1.50 for a can of soda and a pizza as thin as a dime and you must tell them you want cheese. Ok, ok, ok, I alway asked for a plain slice in the 4 corners in the USA and got a slice with cheese. I only asked for cheese when I wanted Xtra CHEESE! The final outcome I just handed the box with the pizza and looked at Sal’s with a huge disappointment and trust me that 4.00 + they got from my son will be their last with us. What made the experience even worse, not one of them behind the counter offer to make it right. That says a lot of the level of service. I would stay away. I wish I took a picture of that slice. A picture would have said it all.

The pizza is great but the salads are very plain. I live a minute away and it still usually takes 45 mins to get my food. I suggest picking your food up of ordering from here.

Whenever I visit my mom and we decide on getting some pizza, I will make her take the extra drive so that we can get pizza from Sals. There pizza is absolutely delicious. From just cheese to meats and veggies– everything is great. I believe this is mainly a take out joint based on the traffic that comes and goes when I’m waiting to pick up our pizzas. Definitely a must try if you haven’t been here before.

Pizza is great but careful when ordering delivery. Never fails, each time I get pizza delivered, the cheese is all on one side and the other is stripped bare. The delivery driver isnt keeping the box leveled hence the art work. Haven’t tried much more but will update as I do.

Pizza is delicious. The staff was very friendly as well. Prices were even better — $ 10 for a large?! Can’t beat that. The bullet holes in the window remind me of the reasons I avoid Meredin; however, after hearing about this place I just had to check it out and it is definitely worth the drive, I just wouldn’t go at night. Parking is awful. During the day it is easy to run in and grab a slice, but I imagine that at prime time hours, the 10 parking spots out infront will quickly be taken. If you are in the area and want some GOOD pizza, Sal’s is definitely the place to go. If you live in the area they deliver.

Horrible salads, terrible sandwiches, and mediocre, greasy pizza. Drive down the street for better food, or just pick up your phone. In an area with so many better places, I’m amazed they stay in business.

My wife and I just discovered Sal’s, having moved to the East Side of Meriden recently, and I think I can safely say that they make the best pizza in the area. I see people compare it to New Haven pizza, and I think that’s about right. It’s not on the same level as the best New Haven pizza, but it would surely fit in just fine in that city. Other than pizza, I also ordered a baked ziti… that meal, on the other hand, was awful. It was easily the worst baked ziti I’ve had in a long time… small portion, no flavor, light on the cheese… blah. That said — the star of the show is the pizza, and it’s good enough to earn them a four star rating from me.

yah this is another one of those reviews that i thought i had written a few years ago, maybe it disappeared or maybe i am forgetful or maybe both. Sal’s is a small meriden local neighborhood pizzera, not much else right around here — there used to be another place up the street that closed. I guess there is Lido’s, Zorba’s, and maybe one other i can’t recall the name of. They used to have a dining room, but the doorway is boarded up now. No tables, so I guess they are focused on the take-out and delivery side of pizza now. Last time I was here it was run by a nice asian family, this time it seemed to be run by a nice middle eastern family. The pizza, while not really in the«apizza» scheme of things, was not as bad as i thought i had remembered it being. It was a weird slice(look at the pictures, really.) the cheese was runny melty gooey in an un-natural way, the crust was on the thin side but not crispy or crunchy, the tomato sauce was pastey, a little acidic, a little sweet. overall it was actually a decent slice for $ 2.50. The few semi-late nights that i have driven by(like 10pm) they were closed. i don’t get how pizzerias don’t stay open later around here. good slice.

Really bad pizza, frozen wings, and I had rancid hard boiled eggs and bad deli meat on a salad once.
