I started going to this Fred Meyer, honestly, because of proximity to my house. We’ve since moved and I still make it a point to go here. It is as good as it gets for a grocery/department store. The helpful, approachable staff is absolutely great. They make it a point to ensure you find what you need. Other reviews cite a certain arrogance about them that, in the time since they have opened, I have never even remotely experienced. The prices on their food and other items they carry is on par with, if not below, what I would expect from a non-Walmart/Winco type store. Like many grocery stores, the freshness comes with what they are able to get, but what I have noticed is that they will not necessarily sacrifice their commitment to the place they live for availability. They are reasonable and quality.

Poor service wrong prices at checkout Winco has fresher food at great prices this Fred Meyer is a yuppie place for plastic people. We bought 5 mushrooms at 2.99 a pound. The clerk charge us $ 2.47 for 4 ounces I questioned this while we were still in the store a clerk near by said if they can’t afford our mushrooms they should go to Albertson’s this is not Store I will ever return to we spent $ 32 on their over priced sushi

On par with Albertsons, Ralphs, Vons… But every attribute is better! So I guess it’s not on par! But this review must go on! This is an everything type of store: food, drugs, home improvement, even clothes! Prices are very fair, there are good sales, and they have a great rewards program. They are community based. They involve themselves with the community; doing things such as hiring local staff and working on community projects. The parking lot is huge. There’s fast food nearby and a Starbucks inside. If you’re local, this shopping center may very well become your weekly go-to.

It’s a great place for a busy mom that has to buy decent veggies, light bulbs, and potting soil in one stop. They have a lot of workers, none of which smile and ask if you’re finding what you need. The sushi making guy was the friendliest in the store. He makes a great spicy tuna roll.(and smiles the entire time as he’s making it)

Since we live in Middleton and work in meridian we go shopping here all the time especially since they have a starbucks! It’s a very clean and welcoming store. The only times I have ever had problems ware first time I went in it took me forever to find the clothes section because it’s on the complete opposite side from the home goods. The two are separated by the groceries… That didn’t make much sense to me… Also sometimes their prices are a bit on the higher side so we don’t do heavy shopping here just quick things that we need. They do have really good produce though that is definitely worth the money!

Won’t redo everything Michele R. has so aptly done in her review. Don’t think I could anyway, she is in a class of her own here. But we find the organic produce is priced more attractively here than for other stores. The store is usually very clean and most of the time the help is very friendly and accommodating, especially the Produce guys. Took and washed out the sand and dirt on curly leaf and Romaine lettuce we wanted to buy. Like most popular markets, some times or days. it looks like they have not had time to fully restock, but not a big deal. Our favorite store to shop. Too bad I can’t give 4.5 stars.

Five stars in the context of the many, many Fred Meyer stores I’ve shopped at since back in childhood days with my grandparents at «Freddy’s» in Portland when this was an Oregon family owned chain to the current time when it is part of the Kroger empire. This store is only two years old, well stocked, well organized and best of all super friendly and helpful staff. The biggest surprise was how good is their organic produce section. Use it or lose it though, that great produce section. I’m hoping this review might encourage more shoppers to check it out. PRODUCE Better than most Fred Meyers for breadth of choice. They even had organic escarole and curly endive… no kidding. Even the non organic options were plentiful with local and regional options for fruit and vegetables. As example, the cherries were from Idaho(and delicious) and the basil was from Gresham, Oregon and the blueberries from a Willamette Valley Oregon grower. TRIVIA disgression: Particularly appropriate for the local Idaho cherries sold here to be so good since the original Fred Meyer(who like my hubby was a native of Brooklyn, NY) started out back in the day selling cherries on the street corners in Brooklyn before moving to Portland, OR to start his retail biz. How about that fun fact? CHEESE Speciality cheese section is smaller than in other Fred Meyer’s. There were good options from which to choose but if I could wave a magic wand, I’d expand this section. Still we found the burratta we wanted to go with the organic tomatoes and basil. OTHERGROCERIES My hubby and I are not so much commercial brand grocery buyers so on that score we look more to places like Co-Ops or Whole Foods for the organic, smaller brand labels we prefer. If I were Queen of Decision Making for the FM chain, I’d expand their organic and specialty brand labels in processed foods, like canned tomaotes and frozen veggies and jarred jams and nut butters and even clearning supplies. Yet, they do carry some organic labels and some regional speciality brands. For example, they had Moonstruck(a Portland company) chocolate bars on a great sale. HOUSEHOLDITEMS For household items like drawer organizers or buckets or hooks or potting soil or… the list goes on… it is hard to beat the all under one roof convenience of Fred Meyer. FLORAL A good selection of fresh flowers and of living plant arranged baskets at super reasonable prices. Also, they had«candy bar» arrangements in glass vases. Cute. SERVICE The people here make this a good experience. From coming in the door where we were greeted by a very nice guy named Mike who was handing out food samples to the woman at the cheese counter to the employees who asked«Are you finding what you’re looking for?» as we wanted the hardware aisles to check out. Including the manager who was inspecting produce and to whom I offered a «helpful hint» for leafy greens and who took my suggestion graciously. Good service culture is nurtured top down and grows bottom up and both are working here. THIS N THAT 1) PARKING: Ample amount in the lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout with ample aisle space. 3) TWINKIELIGHTS: Love the big bramble tree in the entry with LED strings. Twinkie lights in my mom’s vernacular. They appear elsewhere in the store too. Nice touch!

I have found true chocolate-dipped old-fashioned donuts in exactly three places: NYC’s Donut Pub, a billion sad boxes of Entemann’s, and this particular Fred’s. Of the three, Fred clearly takes the cake. The chocolate is a little weird and waxy, not unlike what you’d get on one of Entemann’s aforementioned donettes, but the way it interacts with the super-crisp cake donut is kind of awesome. For whatever reason, it makes for a crunch that has only ever existed in those weird rice krispy-impregnated Krackle candy bars. It’s not the best characteristic for a donut to have, but it’s totally a unique one. So, it’s got that going for it. Also, their French cruellers aren’t bad, and I hear there’s a perfectly lovely supermarket beyond the donut case.

Dad & I went to their Grand Opening today. Wow, what a gorgeous store! We were treated to lots of samples and we were greeted by several staff members making sure we found everything we needed. We’ll definitely be regulars here.
