The people who own this place are terribly rude. Bad service and the food isn’t even that good.

George and his staff make sure that every visit feels like you’re welcomed into his home. He aims to please! Great stop for breakfast or lunch, the only times I’ve dined there. Everything was perfect! I’m glad my friend Nick introduced me to this diner!

We come here often, and we are happy that there is somewhere local that makes our food perfect every time. The service is great too! We get a blt and eggs usually. :)

What a magnificent piece of America to stumble into on a rainy day. Irish waiter, Greek chef, bar stools and booths from the bygone… Had they been in LA, they’d have to close shop due to the demands for on-location filming. But let me say this: for years, I have been eating pieces of leather wrapped in pita thinking it was a gyro… Today, I have tasted what it was meant to be, lamb, moist and full of flavor… What now? Do I have to travel to this far off corner of the world each time I crave gyro?

This place is pretty good. My eggs, toast and bacon are always cooked perfectly. The wait staff are friendly and we got our food and drinks in a timely manner. I’m not sure what the other reviewers are talking about concerning slow service, because the older gentleman always cooking the food here in keeps everyone in check.

so my experience about 5 minutes ago has been one of my worst. I blindly entered the Phoenix Diner on Merrick ave in Long Island after my weigh in for a powerlifting meet I am competing in today. the waitress was extremely clumsy and dropped coffee on me. her finger nails were extremely dirty. She mistaking gave my plate to the gentlemen sitting next to me who put his fork into the dish and ate some of it before he realized that’s it was the wrong plate. I asked her to make me a new plate as she attempted to just put the plate in front of me. she then took the plate to the back and told the cook, «just hold its for a minute and put it on and different plate» we all heard her and we’re so shocked. this place was disgusting. my advise is don’t visit this place…

The food here is not good. It’s not horrible, just not good. Service was also slow. We got our food before our drinks. I’m not a huge reviewer so you know I’m serious when I write one. My wife and I live in Merrick and its safe to say we would rather drive to a Jersey diner then ever come back here. Also, not cheap! Ice cubes weren’t bad

Terrible, owner is a mean fights with customers and belittles his staff. Food is decent but not worth eating, the loud yells you will witness while eating there will ruin it all. The owner is just a flat out dick.

Lived in Merrick since 2003, but never went to MaryBills. So glad to see the place re-open as a diner. I stopped in today for lunch after returning from the city. From a nostalgia standpoint, it reminds me of all the dice diners I’d haunt in my youth in NJ, and that’s not a negative. I’ll take a little redo grit than a sparkly clean chain restaurant anyway… immediately greeted by the owner and waitress Cecile, both lovely folks. Engaged in real conversations, made eye contact(again, a rarity compared to fast food restaurants.) and seemed genuinely interested. Ordered a turkey club, came with fries. Have to say the sandwhich was fresh and slightly better than average, the fries were a bit cardboardy,(maybe freezer burnt?) but edible. All things combined, it’s worth checking out. I personally love greasy spoons so I’ll be going back!

Im torn. I miss MaryBill’s GREATLY. I refused to walk into any place that ever took over here. And its changed hands more then once already. But i didnt want to go to my normal/regular places, sooo, i broke my own rule, and went here. Overall, the place is similar, but new things(windows, tables, etc). Anyway, onto the food Ordered the lox and onion omlette and added american cheese. It was pretty good, not great. Came with home fries and toast. The home fries werent done enough, so order them well done. A little too much butter too, and i love butter. Worth trying, sure. Go out of your way, eh b
