I asked my friends for suggestions on realtors. I wrote one, she replied, I replied, and then she didn’t reply, so I wrote her again, and she didn’t reply. I guess she didn’t want my business. I asked my friends again and received another suggestion — I wrote them and they never replied even after multiple attempts. I guess they didn’t want my business either. So I turned to the beloved Facebook and cried out for yet another referral — and I got Grant… who not only replied but helped me the entire way through. I am a first time homebuyer who grew up around realtors(my dad and sister are realtors). I knew somethng, but I knew nothing… to be precise. I must admit that I had a warped sense of what a realtor is and is not. I always thought that you would join up with a realtor and they would write, call, text, and email you home to go look at. The case is not as such anymore in the internet age. Today you will set up your criteria and whatever meets that search criteria you will be emailed those homes to preview. If you like what you see on the computer then you will ask your realtor to set up a showing. This makes sense in our busy world — it is hard for a realtor to «know» what you want so that is why this system is best. I jumped into the scene when it was most definitely a seller’s market. I saw a house, put and offer in and immediately lost it to someone else. Same with house 2. Same with house 3. House 4 I recinded my offer before they considered it. And then house 5 I won. But winning wasn’t the end of the line by any means. The real fun started then — inspections, inspections, signing paperwork, and more. Then the move. UGH! I’m going to break buying a house down into 3 parts — the looking, the bought, and the afterwards. During the looking Grant helped me get pre-approved so I could move faster on any houses I liked. I highly suggest this because it shows the seller that you are qualified for that amount and the deal is more likely to go through. I alaredy explained the looking process with the generated emails. All I will add is that Grant made changes a few times to my criteria in and efficient manner. Once you win a contract you must go through the formalities. In any case that I needed help or direction Grant helped. The only thing I can really slight Grant for on this part is that on seller move-out(house was occupied) they had the two fridges, and both the washer and dryer packed up and raedy to ship off. I had my walk-through on the same day they were moving and when I arrived he told methe fridges were long-gone in the first load but the washer and dryer were still there. After my bid was accepted I wrote him to ensure that those things were part of the deal — to which they were included in the contract that they signed. So when I got there and they were gone I was a little bummed. I’m not really sure if I can knock Grant down for such a thing as he has no control over what the owners try to make off with — knowingly or unknowingly. I can commend Grant for sticking up for me and letting me know as soon as I got there to which a cash deal was struck in exchange for their fridge(the second one wasn’t in the contract). He largely helped with that negotiation and took the brunt of he heat in that small debacle which was gladly welcomed(the owner just wanted to wash hands of the issue and call it good, no cash and no fridge even though I had every legal right to make it difficult and have him haul it back). Afterwards is just a formality. Grant has made sure everything was kosher with the new place. Even when I was having problems moving out of my old rental he offered to help when I was having difficulty with the landlord. Not really his problem, but the offer was nice to try to help me get into my new home with as little stress as possible. Moving and making a house your home is another story… apart from Grant. I would highly reccomend Grant to anyone looking for a realtor –first time or otherwise.
