Do you know what a hole in the wall place is? Okay, since you obviously need a clarification, since I know your definition is either lacking or wrong or both. Just kidding. A hole in the wall place is a store that the local populace wants you to find because they’re awesome, but they don’t want the word to get around because you’ll spoil it. Like Atlantis. Like the Americas before those damn conquistadores showed up. Like your favorite restaurant before those damn critics showed up! Anyway, it was my birthday and I insisted on a cake. I insisted on a Tres Leches cake. My friend, Severin, who refuses to get a GPS device but gets lost EVERYSINGLETIME we went to go out to eat at a place that he only knows the general area, got lost AGAIN trying to find this place. He even had to call his friend, who was visiting his folks in Fresno, to ask for directions. Severin, get a map, please! The place was decent, they served a variety of Mexican food, but I was there for the cake. The cake came in a small plastic container, and there was enough servings for 4 people. The cake wasn’t expensive. The cashier was friendly. So, this place looks like it has potential, but don’t be spoiling this place by telling people about it, okay? Oh wait, right. I’m sorry. I’m doing that right now, huh? Shoot. I’m sorry. Good places are supposed to be advertised. Right, sorry again. Grrr.

I am writing this review for the benefit of the readers. I have never seen a review on Unilocal for this place. I asked my wife and her theory is that since mostly Mexicans frequent this place, they don’t normally use Unilocal and probably don’t want us «gringos» going to this place and over-crowding it(I am joking but this could be somewhat of a probable explanation). So I am telling you about this place because it is good. They do three things here. They have a smoothie bar where they make any kind of smoothie(very good). They have a typical Mexican bakery with Mexican baked goods(pretty good) and custom-made specialty cakes(very good but expensive). But I want to share with you the fact that their food menu is pretty darn good. Although limited(they don’t have chicken or fish on their menu), they do all kinds of combo plates, tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chili relleno, and other things. But the thing I like most is their soups — they have about four or five soups, but I have only had their menudo and their pozole. Both are excellent and a huge bowl for $ 6.99. Their authentic tacos with corn tortillas are only $ 1.50 each and the taste and quality is excellent. I have known of this place for years and years, but I did not frequent it too much because they were a cash-only establishment. Now they take credit cards so that makes it easier for me. My wife and I were just there last Friday and again, we were not disappointed. There is no atmosphere and it is not a fancy place, but it is clean, the service is good, and the food is excellent.
