Holy cow that was good! I don’t even know where to begin this review at, I mean it was truly that good. I had the Crazy Texan, a ½lbs burger infused with jalapenos, garlic, and chilies, topped off with cheese and jalapeño bacon!!! Listen I know I splurged here with this order but it was well worth it. A delicious burger cooked just the way I like it with an absolutely amazing flavor. I asked for a side of their hickory sauce, that was great too, and topped the burger with it. It all came together in this mouth watering phenomena known as the Crazy Texan! I don’t often find myself in Mesquite but will have to make special trips just for these burgers!

My boyfriend and I were starving and lost in my new home and we saw this little hole-in-the-wall place. We chuckled at first thinking BACON& Friends?! Really? What can you do with bacon that’s so exciting… then we saw the sign: Country Fried Bacon. Yes — you heard it right. We had a huge meal for a great price and wow. we can’t wait to go back. :D Yummmm

This place has been on my radar for quite a while. I was saddened to hear the news about the original owner, but I’m glad to see they’re still up and running. My sister and I came here for lunch, and we started out with the chicken fried bacon. They offered us several different sauces, and we picked ranch, BBQ, and buffalo sauce. The bacon slices were actually large in size and had a nice, crispy coating. For my burger, I went with the Crazy Texan, which is stuffed with fire roasted garlic and jalapeño peppers and topped with jalapeño bacon. The meat was thick and very flavorful. The burgers are ½ pound in size and come with hand-cut seasoned french fries. You can also upgrade to sweet potato fries or onion rings for an additional fee. We decided to try the seasoned and sweet potato fries. The regular fries were just okay. The sweet potato fries were better, and they give you plenty of fries in your basket. For dessert, we wanted to try one of their cheesecakes, which are made fresh daily. We were intrigued by the maple bacon cheesecake, and luckily, they had one piece left! Apparently, they sell out very quickly. The taste reminded me of a butter pecan flavor, and it had small bits of bacon inside. Although it sounds like an odd combination, it was actually pretty good! It’s not something I could eat all the time, but it was worth a taste. The place is located in a strip mall, and the interior is on the small side and nothing fancy. They have a large screen TV in the back, and they are willing to change the channel if you ask! Our server was the best. She was very sweet and great with kids. In fact, everyone was friendly, and they checked in on us regularly to make sure everything was okay. Consider this place a hidden gem!

My family and I stopped by Bacon And Friends in our return trip home from Tucson AZ, and while the restaurant was a little out of our way, it was more than worth the side trip. I had the Breakfast Burger, while my wife had the Crazy Texan. We also had an order of chicken fried bacon(OMG! you must try this stuff!) The food was amazing! Quite possibly the best burger I have ever had. My wife agreed. The only thing missing was a cold beer, though the owner and his family — who were extremely friendly and chatted with us while we waited for our food — assured us that they were looking into that possibility as well as expanding to a new location. While my friends and I have often debated whether or not Red Robbin, In N Out, or Five Guys has the best hamburger, after my recent trip to Bacon And Friends, I think I have a new front runner for the top spot. I only wish we had one near Cincinnati, OH. Oh, almost forgot… cheesecake! We had the banana pudding cheesecake, which was delicious. They also teased us with a bacon and maple cheesecake, but they were unfortunately out of that one at the time. Finally, thanks to owner and his family for a wonderful time!

Don’t let the other positive reviews fool you. I gave it one star to balance the too many four and five star reviews. I would normally give it 2 stars. The place is small, may be able to fit 15 people. I’ll make it quick. The burgers are flavorless and dry, maybe because they are cooked well done and not seasoned. We(family of 4) specifically ordered medium, but they all came well done. Every burger we ordered had bacon, and they were still flavorless. Fries were terrible. Bacon was only partially cooked. Onion rings were pretty good, tho. I would rather get burgers from Whataburger. Cook came out to check on everyone, and it looked as if he had been working on his car – dirty hands, dirty jeans, shirt had stains, etc. I’m always down for a greasy spoon, but if the food isn’t good then what’s the point. Go there if you want, but you’ve been warned!

I did double my rating for this«burger joint»! Why? Well, because they deserve it, of course! I went with my hubby to an UYE and had to eat my words from my last review. It was sooooo good!!! I shared a Crazy Texan and an Ultimate Grilled Cheese with my love, and must say this was the ultimate treat for dinner! The grilled cheese was so yummy, with bacon lettuce and tomato. It is more of a grilled BLT with cheese– whatever– it is the BOMB of sandwiches! The hamburger was very delicious too. They make their burgers like I make mine, with all the ingredients inside! Then they put cool, crisp lettuce and tangy tomato on a toasted bun. OHYUMMMMMM!!!

Let me just start this review by saying I was compelled to order the double dare crazy Texan burger. This behemoth was the size, nope bigger than my head and I tried my best to take it down like a champ. Did I succeed? Absolutely not. Was it tasty? Hell yes. Efficiency is the word at Bacon and Friends. There are several ingredients listed for the burger. Roasted garlic, jalapenos, onions… but where do they all go? Rolled into the patty! Now, that is resourceful. Needless to say, those patties were the jam and huge! The double-dare crazy Texan is a double patty with their delectable bacon. I didn’t finish it, but I did get an unexpected ¾ through. I couldn’t resist the sweet potato fries as a side, which might have deterred me from finishing the big guy. Most of burgers were a little pricy for a burger, but quality meat comes at a price. This was a damn good burger, damn good fries, damn good bacon and DAMN I wanna go back!

We made the trek all the way out to Mesquite to try this highly Unilocal-rated burger joint and weren’t disappointed. Two orders of Crazy Texans came from the kitchen as nice-sized burgers loaded with with jalapeño bacon. My side of onion rings however were forgettable; my partner’s sweet potato fries only less so. That’s okay – the star of the show was the Crazy Texan – and the only change I would have requested was to get it medium rare. A well done temperature does not do this well-seasoned thick patty justice – take note! Would you like cheese fries with your bacon? Yes, our favorite caloric-overload snack also came loaded with a ton of bacon. Unfortunately, all those cheesy fries made it hard for us to order their homemade cheesecakes – and it’s not that we didn’t try either! We had their gooey chocolate cake(sadly not made in-house) and had to cry uncle before half the slice was done. The damage to our waistlines was done; to our wallet, it cost us $ 30 for two – and given the food we attempted to consume, it was a very reasonable price, comparable to what we pay at other gourmet burger joints. Bacon and Friends is best described as a hole-in-the-wall in an otherwise non-descript strip mall. What elevated the drab exterior/unkempt interior were: the friendly, accommodating service and the almost-great burgers to be had here. If we venture out this way again, we’ll be sure to give it another go.

Heart clogging goodness, Bacon goes with everything, right? I mean bacon goes with eggs, it goes with an all beef patty, on a salad, it goes with shrimp, everything! So when you are bold enough to name a restaurant Bacon and Friends, you better hit gold! So on a rare trip to Mesquite, a few friends and I embarked into a road trip of sorts to have some burgers. It was worth the trip. There in a small strip mall with no real pretention we found Bacon and Friends. It’s not fancy at all, just good food filled with fat and all those things you shouldn’t eat. I loved the Crazy Texan as well as the fires. The instant quiet heard at our table was evidence that they enjoyed it as well. Hard to have a conversation when you can’t stop eating. Even got ranch dressing to complete the calorie binge. Afterwards, the cook came out to make sure everything was great. It’s not everyday you have the chef come see you after your meal, especially at a burger place. Don’t worry a hospital is near by.

I went to Bacon and Friends about 3 weeks ago with 2 of my buddies. We live near downtown Dallas, so it was about a 25 minute drive to Mesquite. When I saw this place on Unilocal,I noticed the high rating. What was more amazing was the name. I immediately knew I was going to like this place because I am a bacon aficionado. I ordered the Crazy Texan burger with fries, and my friends ordered their burgers(I forgot what they had). We also ordered chicken fried bacon, which was not quite what I was expecting it to be. It tasted like… fried batter. I could barely taste the bacon. Still, the burgers were VERY good, and service was impeccable. Heaping helpings of fries, the huge size of the burgers, and awesome service warrants this place 5 stars. My friend ordered an avocado burger to take home to his roommate. I heard later that he finished it in less than 5 minutes. I would like to try it next time.

I’ve been excited about Bacon & Friends for a few weeks now. I was trying to find something new for my gentleman and myself to experience that wasn’t all the way out in Dallas, so I set my Unilocal to a certain radius, and saw that this place had a REALLY high rating. After reading the reviews, I knew we had to check it out. We drove out there once about two weeks ago, but sadly it was closed. I really will learn to call ahead one day. I’d decided to make it a B&F/Scrumbcious Mesquite hot date combo this Friday night, so we trekked out to the far away magical land once again. After a couple u-turns, we finally made it. When I walked in, I expected counter service, but lo and behold, we were given a table, menus, and friendly waitress. I was sad to see what was probably a photo of the late owner on the wall. Our waitress came by to see if we had any questions while we perused the menu. I knew I was going for pie later, so I tried to make it as light as possible at a place with bacon in the name, ordering the ultimate grilled cheese(bacon & tomato on Texas toast), adding avocado. I’m an avohound. The waitress threw me for a loop when she said I could sub my fries for sweet potato fries, onion rings, or a list of other things. Momentarily confused, I ordered sp fries. My dining companion got the avo-burger, add jalapenos, regular fries. Now, I’ll admit, I wasn’t too sure about the hype. I mean, it seems like nowdays you can put anything in cupcake or pie form, or toss bacon on top of it, and it’s the trendy amazaballs thing to do. But the friendly service and delicious food really did live up to the hype this time. My sandwich was perfectly grilled, the bacon was crisp and flavorful, the burger was seasoned perfectly, the fries were hot and potatoey, even the avocado was bright and fresh. My companion and I have a peculiar rating system of our own, the highest honor being«Definitely Have Again». Bacon & Friends is absolutely on that exclusive list. I’m really glad they were able to stay open. I can’t wait to go back and try the cheddar meatloaf sandwich!

Bacon and Friends. First, let us take a moment to reflect on the genius of this concept. tick tock tick tock Bacon! And other stuff that goes with bacon! Just… YES. Genius. As you’d expect, there’s a list of burgers, sammiches, salads — all baconfied. Pretty bawlzy combos(Crazy Dare burger with six slices of jalapeño bacon and two slices of cheese, Breakfast burger with a fried egg and bacon) and some just plain good ideas — Meatloaf sandwich, good day to YOU, sir. So, let’s get to the star of the show: Chicken Fried Bacon. Before I arrived, I had visions of going easy on the bacon — you know, taste some and enjoy, but not go crazy-nuts or anything. Ha! I delicately peeled a 2″ section off one of the strips and dunk just the corner in the provided(delicious!) ranch… holy crap. The batter is so fluffy and crunchy, and the bacon is done but not weirdly over-crisp, and the ranch is thick and intense. Yeah, all decorum out the window. Get some, for real. I’d brought my kid, so she and I split an Ultimate Grilled Cheese(+ tomato and bacon) and an Avocado Bacon burger, plus onion rings and sweet potato fries. Grilled Cheese: as delicious as you’d expect. The bread was nicely crisp, but not sogged up as you might picture; I’m pretty sure they toast the bread first, then add the goodies. Very very good. Our burger was LOADED with avocado slices, so much so that one or two came sliding out as we cut it — take one of those and introduce it to the sammich. You’re welcome. The burger itself was monstrous — «half pound burger» doesn’t sound THAT big, until you lay eyes on it. That is so much freaking meat! Heh. Delicious. Ridiculous. Onion rings were good — they were reaaaally thick cut and crispy and great — but the sweet potato fries were awesome. Nothing fancy about them, but done just right. Slightly thin cut, just crispy enough, and plain enough to actually taste the sweet potato. Greatness. Also greatness: The people! Our server was precious and friendly and made a point to remember each of our names(eight of us!), and as our group was leaving, a super-nice manager-type asked us about Texas beers that we enjoyed… because they’re considering adding them to the offerings. Bacon and Beer make friends?! YES. Of note: I have a takeout box FULL in my fridge right now. I only ate close to half my food, and that was even kind of pushing it — and still a full box. Prices might seem high at first, but consider the portions and greatness. Even more of note: We came the week after the owner died, and his parents and friends are working so hard to stay open. His mom especially was so kind to come and greet us and make sure we liked everything. If you’re thinking of enjoying the bacon-based goodness, do it now! Don’t think about it, just go. So, yes — maybe your fat pants are one of those friends of bacon… but you will be too. TRUST.

RIP to the owner. I came up tonight after seeing the great reviews on Unilocal to find flowers outside and people inside discussing the memorial tomorrow. How very sad. I learned of the owner’s dream to create a restaurant around bacon, and his employees really did a great job of convincing me it’s the best bacon-based restaurant in the world. I got the Crazy Texan and some bacon cheese fries. I usually have a big appetite, but this is beyond me. I either need another stomach, or more friends to help me. Both were amazing. All their food appeared to be really well made. True I probably lost a couple weeks of my life trying to eat this, but it was worth it. I’m in Texas where everything is big, including pant sizes. Next time I come back, I’m going here. If I was a business-savvy doctor, I’d open an angioplasty place right next door.

Upgrading the review. Haven’t had a burger in forever and had a major craving. Came back here and got the Double Dare With Cheese(that’s a pound of meat, people), and for 75 cents ordered the Crazy Texan mix… onions, garlic, green chiles. The mix went directly onto the burger. I was oh so foolish, DON’T DOTHIS!!! It was so awesomely delicious I ate the whole thing, even though I know I should have stopped at the halfway mark. But you know the hallmark of a tasty burger is that you know you should stop eating, but you can’t. As penance I bought a slice of their chocolate cake for my wife and daughter to share, and I will not have any. I may not eat until Monday, I’m that full right now.

Bacon + Me = Friends. Bacon wants to be your friend too. Maybe not so much for your clogged arteries… If you look on their menu, just about everything has bacon on it and if it doesn’t you can probably ask for it to have bacon with no probs. To start, our group shared an order of the CHICKENFRIEDBACON. Yes, I said CHICKENFRIEDBACON! It is what you think it is. Delicious bacony goodness battered and fried with a side of ranch. If it had a side of gravy it would have been golden. Actually, I think I might ask for it next time I go since they do serve CFS(Chicken Fried Steak). Shortly after consuming bacon, I had some more awesome bacon in my ½ pound Crazy Texan burger. The burger patty was seasoned with roasted garlic, jalapeños and green chillies as Deno F. states. I don’t know how I got out of their without being rolled out, but I was full to the max with that burger. Burger was juicy and delicious. On our way out, I saw a freshly baked pecan crème icing? bundt cake in the fridge. Only if I had more room in my stomach, damn. The lady that works there says the guy there makes the cakes and that they also make a red velvet one, too. I’m pretty sure I’ve gotta make another visit just for their cakes alone.

I KNOW Bacon. I don’t’ mean to name drop, but Bacon and I are thisclose. I can even hang at Bacon and Friends. And I do. This is the best hamburger I’ve had since Athens Texas. I usually don’t go for the big thick patties, but dang! This was the best seasoned hamburger meat I’ve had in Dallas. One-half pound of tasty tasty cow. We split the Double Dare. Half-pound burger with SIX thick slices of jalapeño bacon and two slices of cheese(pepper jack, cheddar or swiss) and all the fixins. We also had a side of their Crazy Texan topping – roasted garlic, jalapenos and green chilies. It was amazing. We wanted to get it in ¼ pound size but they put filling in the meat and cannot make it in the smaller patty, so the munchkin and I split. It was still too much food for us. I couldn’t finish HALF of the half of the burger. We really tried – it was that good. We also had them add cheese and bacon to the fries. No artificial bacon bits here – real deal. I will post a photo. And as for the folks who say they are under new ownership and don’t have the homemade cakes. WRONG – homemade red velvet and chocolate double fudge cake. And to the folks who put in that they were closed on Saturday. Also WRONG – I was hanging with Bacon on Saturday afternoon. Service is amazing. I counted two«sweeties» and about four«gals» in our short visit. Owner came out to ask how the food was. The place was busy but not overly packed and the television was tuned to the Food Network. This is my new go-to burger joint!

Wtf is Bacon and Friends? Breakfast place? Burger Place? MicroPig Store? Well, I found out the answer after I couldnt resist the fantastic name anymore! To my surprise it is a burger place with shockingly good burgers! Who knew? It took me a minute to decide on my burger, but I finally went with a Buffalo Bacon Burger with pepperjack and fries. The prices startle you at first(infact the guy before me came in, looked at the menu, and then left) — 7.39 for a burger… until you read that this includes fries. They would have been better off to say«burger– 4.50, fries-2.50» and sell them seperately on the menu… it’d «look» more afforable. Whatever, I wasn’t here to be cheap, I was here so I could say I’ve eaten at a place called«Bacon and Friends»! I was expecting a so-so burger with some chili’s-esque buffalo sauce, some wendys-esque bacon and a mcdonalds-esque bun. What I got was a massive amount of spicy buffalo sauce, huge pieces of THICK crisp bacon, a massive burger patty that was cooked perfectly, and a yummy lightly toasted bun surrounding it all. I reeaaally enjoyed this burger. The fries were hit/miss and forgetable, and I wouldn’t recommend them, but the burger was good enough to make that a non-issue. If you’re ever south of 80 in Mesquito I highly recommend visiting this little diamond in the rough. Tasty, affordable, and if you have kids(or childlike adults) they can decorate a hamburger coloring page that they’ll hang on the wall! Obesity is fun, kids!

It’s not bad. With roasted garlic and boasting jalapeño bacon, I knew I’d have to try the Crazy Texan this go-around. I asked our waitress if I could add mushrooms to it and the reply was a bouncy uh-huh. Service was… enthusiastic, if a little spotty. Asked if we needed water refills about every 3 minutes, when I think clear glasses were designed to answer this question. Some of our special requests, such as the mushrooms on my burger, and an addendum that the fries come out crispy, seemed to have been slighted. I will put this to her being a new hire. Sorry sweetness! Doey eyes and a cute smile are only half the equation. I should have asked for medium on the burger. It came out very well done. Flavorwise, it was great. The fried mushrooms as an appetizer on the other hand, and the fries that came with the meal were really heavy. The batter on the shrooms was perhaps too hushpuppy for me, and the fries came out darker and soggier than I find preferable — a sign of old, or not-hot-enough oil, maybe. Dad says it’s been better before. As I said, not bad, but certainly lacking this trip. Menu choices look promising and I may still be back to check those out.
