Howard’s Catfish

So, I am eating my catfish nuggets and writing my review at the same time! I called my order in, and I went inside to pick it up. This is my first time visiting Howard’s and I must say the catfish nuggets are very good! They gave me so much food the top would not close on the container! I got the lunch special price, which is excellent for the amount of food I got. I will be visiting them again and taking the family! I was skeptical, when I called, the guy that took my order was very abrupt. But guess he is just a man on the grind! No time for chitchat and niceties! Just, «what you want ma’am.»

Awesome catfish nuggets! I went for the lunch special the portion was large for its price. The seasoning reminds me of what my mom makes back home in Louisiana. The service was good and quick! They have a great homemade sauce. I will be back.

Like the food but their drive thru is a hot mess. I normally call my order in, so that when I get to the drive thru, it is ready. At least that is the way is should work. Why do I get stuck behind someone that DID NOT call their order in? So, that means I have to sit in the drive thru (which coincidentally is what I am doing now) anywhere from 30 – 45 minutes waiting, while my order gets cold. Why even bother to call your order in? At least not for the drive thru. If you have to call your order in, the best bet would be to go in to retrieve it because if you do drive thru, you’ll get screwed.
Like I stated the food is good but the drive thru is a mess and the 2 stars is for the drive thru mess as I sit here now 30 minutes + waiting for my damn order.
Eta: Got my order… why is it WRONG. This is the first time they have screwed my order up. After calling in my order, waiting in the drive thru 35 minutes, I get home and unstaple the bag, open the container only to see the order is not what I ordered. …sigh

I called in my order today and the guy answers the phone and says «hello». So I looked at my phone to see if I had the wrong number because I couldn’t believe a business was answering the phone like this.
Let me just say I won’t be returning because the customer service is HORRIBLE. My links look like burnt and the fish is average. Waste of $ 20.

My first time here we found place on Unilocal.The fish is good. Its very busy on Friday and Saturday nights so expect a wait. They have this homemade dipping sauce that is on point. I will go there again. By the way the dipping sauce is hot. If you love spicy you will love it.

Catfish Nuggets were really good! The basket came with crinkle cut fries (my favorite!), toast, jalapenos, and pickle slices. We also ordered some of the shrimp, but it was dry an overcooked. Good place, they had live music the night (not great, but filled the void). Pro’s: The Catfish Nuggets Basket, Sweet Tea, reasonably priced. Cons: The smell of old oil, the wait, needs to be cleaner, and cash only.

It is worth every penny. The catfish and shrimp basket is very, very good. I’ll be returning to this place. My mom ordered the nuggets she loved them.

My friend took me here this past weekend on 02/​05/​2016. Since I moved here, I haven’t been able to find good catfish, fried. When I tell you this is the best catfish that I’ve had in Texas. OMG! And that Cajun tater sauce! I don’t even like tarter sauce with my catfish, but now I can’t even eat it without it. I will be back this Saturday.

Ordered the catfish nuggets and I must say they are good. I ordered ahead of time and I ordered a lunch size which was huge. The place is old and needs a good makeover. Also the location is not very convenient.

Love the catfish. The homade tartar sauce is great but they have spicy Tarter if you ask. My go to is the nugget basket. Everything is I have tried has been good. But it’s called Howards Catfish for a reason

I recently moved from S. Garland to Mesquite and needed to find another catfish place that I could place an order for takeout. I decided to stop in yesterday and the prices were actually higher than I expected, I was aware cash only payment. I ordered the 2 piece fillet which comes with crinkled fries, pickles and toast for $ 8.99 before tax. The size of the fish was good and the best part I didn’t have to cook. The creole seasoning was spicy I am from Louisiana I liked dipping my fries in it and used my tabasco for the fish fillets. Forgot to mention I was wearing my #75 Greene tee and there is a Steelers football banner on the wall I felt at home.

Howard’s is a great place to grab some fresh good catfish or shrimp. I like the fillets, but the catfish nuggets are really good.
If you live close by or if you can be there in 15 minutes, pick up the phone and order it…

This food is AMAZEBALLS! I had the catfish nuggets plate. And my fiancé had the 3pc filet meal. The nuggets were piled up high. It came with fries, pickles, peppers and toast. Tbh you don’t really need the fries Bc there is so much fish. Every thing came out piping hot. We went at 9:30 at night so it wasn’t a wait. Overall it was awesome. Definitely going back.

Let me start off by telling you we just ate some of the best fried catfish we’ve ever eaten. Fresh, hot, well seasoned, good. Tell Howard to hold the fries and sides, you don’t need them. Just get the catfish, he also has shrimp or tilapia… we had the catfish. This is a small sole proprietor seafood restaurant. Nothing fancy at all, sodas from a machine (bring change), cash only meals.

Stopped by this place today and it was a great place to eat at. They give a nice size portion especially for the cost. I had to catfish nuggets and my husband had the chicken wings. The food was seasoned really good and everything was fresh. We’ll be going back here real soon.

Catfish Nuggets are really the only thing that I’ve tried here. It comes with toast pickles and peppers. They give you a generous amount of nuggets that’ll hit the spot and fill you up and for a good/​reasonable price.
Ps. You should call you order in 15 minutes ahead of time

DON’T GO HERE!!! THE FOOD MAKES YOU SICK. i went here today and got the 2 catfish filets and 6 shrimp basket with my friend and now we are both violently ill. It seems like they tampered with our food and now we are very sick. Poor customer service. Long wait. Took 30 minutues until we got our food and they even served a few others before us that ordered their food after ours. We were very polite to them though, but we are very sick now and it’s terrible. Food makes you very, very ill. EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Nice homemade place good for fish. Southern cooking finest. This place has pool tables and games inside so bring the whole family! The customer service is very good and welcoming. As for the fish I ordered the Catfish nugget lunch cost a bit 7 bucks and when I tell you it’s worth ever penny, it’s worth it. Fish comes with fries and bread. Large serving plate was loaded with fish. I think this is probably the best Catfish nuggets I’ve very had. Light homemade batter And homemade tartar sauce. Rich in seasons and flavor. Cook perfect. Great experience
