La Fonda

The place doesn’t look like much when you walk in. They brought out fresh chips and homemade salsas right away and we ordered our food. The rice and the beans were nicely and subtlety spiced, not hot, just good flavor and not overly salty to mask lack of flavor. Everyone’s entrée was tasty, all served on hot plates as it should be at a Mexican restaurant. Good service too.

Our family of 6 ate here Yesterday while traveling through. They were very accommodating to my rambunctious kids. They even brought my 12 year old a sample of octopus because he mentioned he had never had it before and would like to try it! The food was very good traditional Mexican and my husband and I noted that they had some very enjoyable layers of flavor that were unexpected but really made the meal remarkable! The establishment was very clean and the bill fit nicely into our budget!

Our first time here. Fresh mild and hot salsa offered with typical tortilla chips. We both had lunch specials (#1, #11) and were more than satisfied. Good avocado and cheese on my wife’s enchiladas. My beef taco included shredded beef and was moist and tasty. Sides of beans as rice were not typical of most Mexican places, but were also quite good. Prices a bit high for a lunch, but within reason. Oh yea, they aren’t kidding on their hot salsa — it’s hot! We’ll stop there again on our next trip to buy booze at Nevada vs. Utah prices.

It seems this restaurant has moved, based on the other reviews. There were six booths available but it least 10 tables on the inside and a few on the outside. It is in a much newer building and is very clean. The service was great and the people are very friendly. The portions were really big. I had the taco and a chili Relleno and a pork tamale. I was just going to get the taco and a chili Relleno, but adding a pork tamale only cost a dollar more. My husband had the steak and shrimp fajitas. They usually do not offer a steak and shrimp combination, but he asked if they would make it and they did. We also had the guacamole as an appetizer.
Our only concern was that all of the food needed just a bit more seasoning to it. Otherwise it seemed kind of bland. The corn tortillas or too thin and fragile to be used with the fajitas. We asked for additional tortillas and they brought flour, which were much better. I do prefer my chili Relleno to have the seeds removed from the chili. I thought that the seeds were removed, but when I got to the end I saw that they were not. That’s just my personal taste.

The best restaurant in Mesquite by far. Food great. Service good. Prices fair. Big portions. Fast all the way around. Only 8 booths so can crowded with golf tournaments. Nice kept secret for us…

Decent food. Fairly good margarita. Crappy service… was ignored once we sat down. Overpriced. Don’t bother.

Fresh, Homemade and delicious. Seafood enchiladas were filled with shrimp, beans and rice not dry or over cooked. The Margarita had plenty of tequila.
The service was wonderful!

Every time we come to Mesquite and are in the mood for Mexican we go to La Fonda. Service is great and the food is excellent. Their margaritas are tasty too!

I had s taco salad. The price was fair, presentation was excellent. Service was fast and friendly. A clean modern Mexican restaurant. I’ll be back!

Good food and great service. We went here for a late lunch. They have a great lunch menu that you can order from until 3pm, when they switch over to just their dinner menu. The food was all very good and you get a good value for money. Chips and salsas are service fresh and warm, with 2 different salsas and an excellent white bean dip. I had the daily enchilada special (very good) while my lunch-​mates had burritos (also very good and quite big). Everything tasted great, everything we saw being delivered to tables around us, made us want to come back just to try those. I have a feeling this will be our go-​to-​place for good Mexican food from now on.

Well this is the first time we have went to this place since we moved here two years ago, my wife and I ordered a tostadas they were about 6″ dia. All lettuce and about 1 tablespoon of meat and 1 tablespoon of beans and the great price of $ 6:50 What a ripoff, we pulled out and went to Eureka casino to finish up with you guessed it tostada salad that was 10″ for $ 8:50 with lots of beef and beans and minimal lettuce that will pork you out. This is the place to go eat.

When in mesquite… this is a great place to eat! Who doesn’t love Mexican food?
Their menu is super long. which only means one thing… you have so many choices to choose from. Took us about a good ten minutes because we just couldn’t decide on what to get (because they all sounded so yummy).
Ended up ordering 2 carne Asada tacos and 2 carnitas tacos with a side or rice and beans. My boyfriend got the camarones las diablos, which is a shrimp dish with sauce a side of rice and beans. They start you off with some salsa and tortilla chips and beans. We ordered micheladas and they were yummy!
When my food came out, they were huuuge! I ended up eating only two tacos because that was plenty for me, so I took the other two to-​go. The prices were very decent for the portions they had. Definitely recommend this place to Mexican lovers, or someone with a big appetite.
Service was also good, and our server explained everything to us. Thank you la Fonda!

SERIOUSLY THE WORST MEXICAN FOOD MY WIFE AND I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS PLACE IS ACTUALLY STILL IN BUSINESS! SUCH POOR SERVICE, AND IT ACTUALLY GOT WORSE MUCH WORSE THE FOOD. My wife had ordered the chimicganga, and I had ordered the shrimp cocktail. Both the chimicganga and the cocktail were by far the most tasteless, nastiest, HORRIBLE EXCUSE FOR MEXICAN FOOD!
I had to go up to the waitress, and ask her to please bring me a refill on my coke.
I hated my food so much, even tho I was starving I got full on the prepackaged salted crackers they had brought out.
Please if you ever consider eating here good luck…

Loved everything about this place. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, the music was authentic, and everything was very clean.
Most impressive of all was the staff. Two of our party have food allergies, and the waitstaff and chef handled it all carefully and cheerfully.
We had beef fajitas, fish tacos, and taco with Pastor pork (marinated pork). The food was scrumptious, and the colorful presentation made each platter a feast for the eyes.
Highly recommended.

Not bad! Stopped off during a road trip and was pleasantly surprised. Amazing salsa and bean dip, great service, mole was yum.

I love this place! Chicken enchiladas are perfect. The garlic shrimp dish is to die for.
They have real coke in the bottle too. I sometimes order the chicken salad which is wonderful. The dishes are served with a wonderful display of color. Presentation is awesome. Love Rosa and her staff.
Never had a bad meal and the service is excellent.

I’ve had lunch & dinner several times here. It’s a great place if you want really good Mexican food. Ask for the hot salsa it’s the best!

Possibly the best authentic Mexican I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and the service was great, it’s a friendly family atmosphere you would expect from these awesome people. Eat here and be happy.
