If you go here, you’d better like rice, because you’re getting a lot of it. This is a place tucked away a little, but not too far off I-15, which was perfect as I wanted(preferably non-dodgy) sushi, but was also trying to beat a storm, something I only partially accomplished… the storm, that is… going to sushi places and expecting higher end sushi is now my «thing», I guess, but hear me out… my reasoning was that I figured a place in a gambling town would be able to afford to fly in the fresh stuff… I don’t know if they can or not, but I’m not sure they do… From the top, green tea tasted a bit soapy, which generally means it is impure and probably cheap. That it also tasted cheap seems to bear this out. You’re not just serving to the plebes; make it more authentically Japanese and zero good Japanese places would ever serve shit along the lines of what was in my teacup. Seriously, have some pride. Shrimp tempura was a bit better, if slightly undercooked. I can live with that. As to the rolls, very sauce-heavy, which usually means masking. They oddly even used the El Yucateco green, which is as far removed from sushi as can be, but it worked ok. Fish didn’t taste stale enough to be trying to cover it up, but I saw the all-you-can-eat sushi sign and figured what they were angling for and so maybe I was lucky… shrimp tempura roll, which is usually a very dependable standard, was probably the worst roll I had here. Ginger also had an off-flavor to it, which was not so wonderful. As noted, we had rice wrapped around the fish inside and outside the nori. The execution of the rolls was slop and I’m going to hazard a guess it was because of all that rice, which was not prepared correctly and thus would not hold together well and sometimes at all. Despite all of that, I elected to try some nigiri also. It was very nasty wasabi paste-heavy, which sucks and also, predictably saw one of the pieces fall apart. The plating was also weird and it was questionable whether the pieces were actually cut properly as a couple seemed fused together, further complicating picking them up without them breaking into a zillion little rice pieces. I could have used my hands, I guess, but the chef could also have prepared them correctly and since I’m paying, I’m thinking my preference should be the deciding one. To that, the sushi chef needs to take a page from Jiro and take a couple years to learn how to prepare the rice correctly, then spend a couple years practicing how to form it for nigiri and then maybe can get back to producing actual output, under the watchful eyes of someone competent, of course. Paying for crappy on-the-job training here is absurd and I won’t do it twice, especially at full price. The place was mostly ok and I may come back at some future point to see if it’s improved, but there will need to be a marked difference before I will consider it. It seems like the owners want to have a good place, but need to focus on quality above all else and make that a point before they will get too far with this. It was maybe 25% of capacity during what I would expect was a normal rush hour while the taco place down the block a bit was doing gangbusters…

We stopped here for lunch as we’re looking for something to eat after the sky diving adventure. It is a casual place and the décor is ok. We ordered Vegas Roll– soft shell crab, etc. the batter was thick.; Last Samurai Roll– spicy tuna, cucumber etc; Tiger Roll– shrimp tempura, avocado, etc. My fave was the Fried oyster. The service was good.

I have a hard time writing a bad review. I have been a business owner and I know there is an ebb and flow with good and bad days. Finding responsible employees, good vendors, etc. Going to a sushi restaurant in Mesquite, NV is a gamble at best! In my opinion, a restaurant serving sushi has to be busy enough to move the fish in and out. The chef has to care about serving tasty safe raw food. Admittedly we only are here once but I personally could not go back. Sushi Masa does not make the«bar».Their service would be improved if patrons ordered at a window and are given a number. Depending on the current staff to provide GOODFAST service isn’t working. Owner… read your reviews! Your current servers for the past few years are chasing your customers away! Consider changing how orders are placed. Next focus on the chef. Get them some training or hire another. If you are the chef, get help in how you prepare proper sushi! The quality of your fish is only boarder line. Consider another vendor! The hostess that met us at the door was very sweet and did a great job. In the end she managed our final check. We never once complained about the service or the food but when she saw some of our food(one sushi volcano) took over an hour to get to our table, she did not charge us for the it. That was very kind and appreciated. The volcano roll was a disaster. There was only several tables with patrons, so busy was not an excuse. We were told the chef missed the order. We ordered edamame: came out luke warm and no salt. Chi tea: offered two for price of one… we did not take the free one Fried oysters: came fast, very hot and very tasty … But menu said order was six pieces, we only got five! Volcano: it was basically a pile of rice, hot mayo and salmon pieces. You could not eat it with chop sticks as the rice didn’t stick together! This dish was hot as it should be. Because the sushi was deducted from the bill, it was only $ 15. Honestly, it wasn’t worth even that! I write this to help the owners. For those looking for good sushi in Mesquite, read more recent reviews to see if the owner got the message!

Service was great, a little slow at times because I think there was only 2 servers. We weren’t really in a rush so it wasn’t a big deal. Food was good, not the freshest, but definitely will be back!

Went to Sushi Masa for Lunch today. The food here is always above average, but not outstanding. Today’s food was good, and they have some pretty unique rolls. I recommend the Mesquite roll, and the Sunrise roll. Service is sometimes slow… but the staff is super nice. It’s definitely a good place to go for lunch or dinner if you’re in Mesquite! Recommended.

What an incredible find. There were four of us and ordered three sushi rolls and the seafood combo. EVERYTHING was delicious. It doesn’t look like much on the outside and we were a bit skeptical but trust me. The service, quality AND portions were excellent.

I had heard the quality of the food at this place went down in 2014. Went to check it out. The reports were right. For a while, their new cook was really screwing up. I am happy to report the things are back where they were. Had dinner there last night. The cook is now well practiced and things seem to be on track again. If you had a bad experience last year, come back. Things are way better now.

So in Mesquite Nevada this is likely as good as sushi gets. Think Japanese edema. Obese sushi rolls with a pannus of white rice. Flavor-less soups and generous glasses of boxed wine. It’s a star above the massive, fried, and sugar crusted fare at the Casa Blanca. But this ain’t no sushi.

Sushi was okay nothing special but the service was awful it took for every over two hours of waiting to get our salads not our sushi SALADS! and glasses were never refilled and they take your order then never come back around.

Delicious-get the Frying Jason! it’s a delicious baked roll something I haven’t found anywhere else. Do not get the 9−1−1 even if you love hot things-it’s too hot to enjoy.

The sushi here was ok, not great. We ordered the Mesquite Roll, Tiger Roll, and NY Girl in Vegas Roll. Tiger was by far the best. I probably wouldn’t come back here next time we visited.

Great staff but the sushi was just not right. The rice was just plain… supposed to be flavored with vinegar and sugar. The miso soup was too salty too. I wanted to like it but not this time. I will give it another try just because the staff is nice.

Best sushi in 50 miles. I had three rolls; the best was the Chi Chi roll. Spicy, but not overpowering.

Marginal sushi. Serving hostess was a bossy nosy lady. I can’t imagine what 34 other reviewers ate that warranted four stars!

Horrible. Where to start? Slow service every step of the way. Had to go to get up from table to ask chef for items, due to server not coming by. There was only one sushi chef which probably contributes to long wait times. When I asked if there is all you can eat the waitress said«we would rather you order a la cart» so I asked not what she preferred but to answer my question and she said«$ 40 for all you can eat». Lol!!! At least I was saved from ordering too much of their crappy food. Rolls were gross, sashimi and sushi was drenched in the liquid from ginger(I hate ginger so having my entire meal taste like it was a nightmare). Fish was not good. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the time and money. If you want sushi, drive to vegas! I was there lunch time on a Monday. If this was a work lunch break I would not have made it back in time to keep my job!

Just really great service and large portions! The staff are super friendly really nice I talk too! The presentation of the food is fantastic and each order seems to have a different twist in how it is displayed. I highly recommend it!

I came here not knowing what to expect. The reviews seem to speak volumes for the restaurant, but still — the desert? Good sushi? I don’t know… Something screams bacteria growth… I just needed something light and cheap for my lunch and came across the avocado and cucumber roll. Not super adventurous, admittedly, but I prefer vegetarian types of sushi over the raw fish. It was less than $ 5 and for me, just enough to fill me up. Definitely worth going to. The women working the front were very nice. I took my order to go and I was out of there within 10 minutes of placing my order. Seems very clean(though there was a bit of a stench when I walked in; but it quickly dissipated) and they were mildly busy for 1pm during the week. If I lived here, I’d go back many more times to try their other offerings. I love being able to contribute to local restaurants.
