This is a very authentic place. Try the carne asada. I want to try everything thought, everything looks wonderful.

Delicious authentic Latin food, and this is from someone married to a Mexican chef! The food bar offers homemade choices and the bakery has an amazing chocolate tres leches. This location is my favorite of this local chain. The ladies working there are really friendly to this gringa

Get your masterly grilled chicken here! Reminds me of Tandoori style chicken. Lot’s of seasoning and charcoal flavors with a crispy outside and moist inside. Comes with grilled jalapenos and onions. This is blows away any store bought rotisserie jobs. Worth a drive out.

This is a really convenient chain of supermarkets that are located throughout the New Orleans area. I generally shop at the Metairie and the Westbank(Gretna/Terrytown) locations. Huge selection of Latin American products, to include fruits, vegetables, cooking spices and condiments. Lots of Goya and Badia products, along with a wide variety of beers. There’s also a good selection of fresh, seasoned and unseasoned meats for sale by the pound. Ideal also sells hot food to go, daily, and constantly rotates the selection. Highly recommend the rotisserie chicken or the carne asada.

Well, after my experience here, if I could give a lower rating, I would. I am Hispanic and I’m new in town. It’s hard to find certain specialty foods at regular grocery stores, and this was the only place that I found accessible at the time. They have a varied selection of products and are well-stocked. I found everything that I needed and the produce was fresh. They have a spread of traditional prepared hot foods ready to go at a fair price. However, despite how happy I was to find everything that I needed, my experience here was extremely awkward and uncomfortable. Every employee was rude or made us feel like we were an inconvenience. I smiled and greeted them but they had anything but a friendly face. The guys at the meat counter never offered any help even if they saw us standing there. Three guys stocking the shelves made us feel like we were in their way. I had to squeeze and walk around them while they were standing there gossiping about personal stuff just to get a can of coffee. They saw me trying to look at items on the shelves but they didn’t even step aside to allow me to look. Instead they looked annoyed that I was in their way. The ladies at the register were also bitterly unfriendly to us and other customers waiting in line. One of them bagged some of my items into the order of the lady ahead of me. The customer pointed out that she had been charged extra items and she wanted it corrected. The cashier rudely looked quickly at the receipt, told her that it was correct, and gave it back to the customer without correcting it. She then ignored her and started to ring up my order. I was about to speak up but the customer was angry and rude right back at her and talked over me while I tried to say something. We payed for the limited items we had in our basket and left as quickly as we could. It was the grocery trip from hell. I guess their bad attitude is contagious because everyone there was angry, unhappy, and rude. I haven’t gone back since b/c I refuse to give my business to people who have no regard for customer service or manners for that matter. I much rather find my items elsewhere.

Love this store! We get hott food plates from there very often. My favorite is pupusas! But their other plates like beef or pork with rice and salat is always great. Meat section has awesome fajita grill ready meats. It is very good! The store is clean and people Are nice. Would totally recommend the store to my friends but only for hot food and fajitas. Everything else you can get at walmart at better prices. Ps. bout parking. There is bigger parking lot just across the street.

We stopped in because we were on the lookout for fresh chipotle peppers but struck out. The worker didnt seem to embrace the fact some whities were in the store. We ended up buying a couple things but quickly noticed there was nothing special about this store. many similiar items in walmart. Liquor prices were a little high too. They do have a hot food section but since no one was in line I decided maybe not.

BESTLATINSUPERMARKETINTOWN!!! Tienen el mejor Arroz con leche y mi favorito… tres leches. Delicioso!!! Oh, sorry… I got in my Latina swing for a minute there. It’s so hard to find good quality latin products. They got everything right. The people there are so friendly and they have products I can’t find anywhere else. Well, actually I take that back. Union Supermarket on W. Esplanade in Kenner has the same stuff. But this place is so much nicer and the people that work here are very nice and they WANT to be there. Unlike other places… Definitely a return customer.

I agree with the previous reviewer. They have a very good selection of everything he descibed. I go there quite often since I live close by. I love their choice of cheese of all different kinds. I never tried their hot foods but this time I got a pupusas plate. There were 3 pupusas with pork and the slaw. All for $ 5.99. They were very tasty and I loved the slaw. I’ll definetely be picking them up again and maybe try some other things. Also, they must have just baked some bread or some of their dessert items. it smelled so good in the store(it must have been around 5pm when I was there).

I will be the first Gringo to write this up. I have been to Ideal Market a few times… and apparently it is a chain of some kind for Latino Markets based on the name listed here. I’ve been to ideal market over 5 times already. 3 of those times I got Barbacoa Plates from there and it was good. The parking is a little daunting because its got a lot of traffic coming and going and the parking lot isn’t huge but its not that bad. The first thing I thought when I went in there was«WOW! This place is bright, clean, organized, and well stocked.» It’s like a mini super market. They have a wide selection of drinks, juices, fresh produce, canned goods, baked goods and even seem to have a very nice butcher shop tucked back in the corner. Everything is of course intended to cater to the burgeoning Latino community in Ciudad Gordo(Fat City). They have a money wire service though I didnt pay close attention to which providers they send for. My main focus was for their take out hot food counter. Their hot food counter offers a wide selection, from baked fish, grilled chicken, barbacoa and crunchy cajun chicken along with other items I don’t exactly recall. The only thing I have gotten from here is the Barbacoa so far and its pretty good. I think that particular item is well suited to service in this fashion as the longer it sits in the juices under the heat, the better and moister and more tender it gets. It has a good flavor and is overall very moist and juicy. I did get a hunk of beef once that had not been broken up and was a little dry but I think part of that was because I had gotten 4 plates for myself and the guys that were working on project for me and that piece didn’t get broken up to soak up the juices like most of it seems to usually. The plates are served with a small choice of sides. I have gotten rice and salad all 3 times. The salad is usually shreaded lettuce(or is it cabbage? My brain was addled with work fatigue) and maybe some onions or other things in a light mayonnaise dressing. quite a bit like a slaw. The last time it was a red salad of this type. red cabbage, some radishes and a smattering of beets. The food here is not gonna set the culinary world on fire but overall its good solid latino food with a wide array of choices. I debated between 3 and 4 stars but I gave them 4 stars for having good solid take out and for being by far the nicest set up and cleanest Latino market this Gringo has ever been in. and I have been in quite a few. Also, that butcher shop in the back looks rather nice. The meat of various types looked to be of pretty good quality and handled well. It might be worth it for some people to check out just for that purpose. I am not sure if its full service with meats cut to order but a pretty decent selection. Also, the girls at the check out notice I am a white boy and attempt to speak English to me. I of course speak Spanish to them cause I am in Rome. This is DEFINITELY the nicest convenience/grocery/take out counter in Fat City… of which there are probably too many… you should check it out.
