This is my first time here. Lots and lots to chose from for me. My cosmetic consultant was super helpful to me. I like walking in and browsing. If I looked confused, someone would ask me if I needed help. I would return for my makeup needs.

Yesterday, after a nice lunch date with my daughter, I decided to stop by MAC and grab my foundation and concealer quickly since I was out and already at the mall. I made a decision while leaving the Cheesecake Factory that I immediately regretted once I walked into the MAC store at Dillard’s. I have to clarify here because for whatever ridiculous reason, there are TWOMAC stores within the same tiny mall. But I digress. Upon entering the store, an(Asian — used solely to describe her bc this is as much as I got out of my 10 mins in the store to describe her) employee immediately ignored and avoided all contact with me. She made it a point not to ever look up or greet me from her very important time with her«client.» After about 10 minutes of hovering, I finally asked her if anyone else was working. She quickly made sure I knew that she was the only person working and she couldn’t help me. «Even if I know EXACTLY what I need?» She, with her less than stellar customer centric attitude, let me know again she was with a client and I absolutely would not be able to purchase what I needed until she was finished. For the love of God, why didn’t she just bust out that nugget of information BEFORE I stood there and waited for 10 minutes. Now, I get it. You’re busy slathering makeup on some reaaallllly important middle-of-a-Monday afternoon«client’s» face. But you can’t be serious. When a customer knows exactly what they want, politely remove yourself from your über important Monday makeover and let your customer purchase it. Exactly like they did at the MAC store near Macy’s.

I went in to get my makeup done for a college formal and Megan is absolutely AMAZING! Not only did she do a great job, but my friends got their makeup done at another store and it was terrible, and Megan fixed it for them! No problem and did a WAYYYYYY better job than the other store! She gets the 5 stars from me :)

So glad there’s a MAC Store in New Orleans. The store is small but the selection is HUGE. I love shopping here and finding all the new collections that MAC makes. There’s always something new here, never boring. They are also the only store in NOLA to offer a private one on one appointment like a salon. It’s totally worth the $ 50, way cheaper than bringing a makeup artist to your house. And this way they have the WHOLE store to choose from, not just a bag of makeup they brought. It was the perfect choice for me and my girlfriends before we went out for my birthday. Also the MAC Store is the only place you can recycle and get a lipstick, eyeshadow or lip glass. All the other MAC counters only let you do lipstick. Ask for Ashlee, she always helps me! Love it

The product offerings are great. I love MAC Cosmetics! This store is super small, which makes it hard to receive adequate customer service. You’re at the mercy of the associates to retrieve whatever you need. If you’re looking to sample products or need information on something, touch something or browse until someone finds a moment to wait on you… The flip side of this is if you know what you want and just need someone to give you one sacred item that is under lock and key then this customer service model sucks. Tick tock, tick tock. I can’t tell you the countless minutes that feel like hours as I strum my fingernails on the counter waiting to give my request. It’s probably a great way to sell wrinkle cream, because the lack of acknowledgment stresses me out. I understand that we each have to wait our turn, however, it’s make up not vital organs. I guess I just have bad timing, because associates are forging lifelong relationships by talking about career goals, alma maters, talk shows, WTF? I just want a tube of lipstick and if they hadn’t omitted the MAC counter from Macy’s, I’d buy my stuff there. Bottom line, with such a small store front, the service should be able to handle quick transactional sales in addition to full on makeup makeovers.

The 1-star review can be attributed to the completely atrocious customer service I received. I have been here on more than one occasion where I have been completely ignored. On this particular occasion I was intent on purchasing some products so I found an associate and asked if she was busy with another customer. Without even making eye contact, the associate mouthed«mhmm» and walked away. Just as I was recovering from the shock of the complete rudeness an associate approached me and asked if she could help me. So I told her what I was looking for and she got to it. Although I was pleased that she was more than willing to help me, I soon became disappointed when I saw that she really had no clue how to pick out colors that would best suit me. In my opinion, the whole point of buying beauty products at the mall versus your local pharmacy is the one on one attention and expertise provided by the sales associate. When MAC was not able to provide this to me, I left empty handed and headed to Sephora, where I happily found what I was looking for.
