A simple store that has one of the best buttermilk drops in town.

I love hole in the walls and this is definitely one. The breakfast was good but the wait was much longer than it needed to be. I think they make each one to order. I got the«504 breakfast» which I loved because the waffle was in the shape of a fleur de lis. The buttermilk drop donuts were amazing. All in all it would have been better if we didn’t have to wait for an hour.

The omelettes with hash browns are very tasty. This place also offers turkey sausage, which can be stuffed in an omelette. I have not found this option at most breakfast/diner spots. The buttermilk drops are quite good as well. Buttery and sweet. Worth the stop!

I’m not sure why it happened, but it is clear what has happened. The doughnut haven of my dreams has taken a tumble. The last two times I went in, the restaurant was a little dirty. The quality of the food has changed and the doughnuts are… deflated. They are dry and not springy like doghnuts should be. Because I so loved this place, I hate to comment in the service, but it has taken a turn down. Perhaps they are in a transitional phase since they added wings, but it is causing everything else to suffer. I will try them a couple more times and hope I can up the rating to what I know they can be.

My husband and I got the 504 waffle breakfast. It was very good and very filling. I could only eat half! This place is nice and small. Wait time for food may take a while because I think only two people were working there, the cook and the person tending the front.

Let’s start with the name. The name is Buttermilk Drops and Wings. This place has limited web presence. And the website on their menu is down. The service is horrible. The woman was sleeping on the couch at 12pm. The others were in no hurry to serve me as the cook stayed seated and continued to play a game with children even after my order was called out. A lady waited a few minutes before the children yelled out Ms. Kathy. The biscuits & gravy were so so. The fresh donuts look old.

After a night out I awoke from my slumber, hangry and reeling for nourishment. The only cure was doughnuts, duh! I whipped out my trusty Unilocal app and the Buttermilk Drop came up as nearby and it was open. It was 8am and I was looking for brunch places Uptown, but much to my surprise a lot of them did not open until 9 or 10 and since I only had minutes to live I simply could not wait that long. Buttermilk Drop to the rescue! I sent my husband since I didn’t have legs with strict instructions. HOT. GLAZE. DONUTS. He came back with fresh glazed donuts. They didn’t have any piping hot. It was ok, because they were still really good. Much better than Krispy Kreme, but barely missing the mark to become my new favorite. My husband also came home with a few lagniappe items. Bacon and hash browns. Everything was really greasy, but its a diner so what do you expect. The hash browns were awesome despite the grease factor. They were more like rustic breakfast potatoes and were seasoned very well… could have used a little less salt. Would I go back? Probably only if I found myself needing/wanting a comfort food breakfast.

Worst service in 6 years of living in New Orleans. which is saying something because service is pretty terrible in many places here. Started well as cashier gave us each a free buttermilk drop which were tasty. after that it took 40 minutes to get some eggs and a waffle. The lone saving grace was watching an old guy lose his S#*t at how slow service was. If you go, just grab doughnuts or butermilk drops to go.

If it was possible to even leave a negative star, I would leave –10 stars. I have no idea who the reviewers are that left raving comments about how amazing this place was. We came at 8:00AM on a Tuesday — place was literally empty, yet it took almost 40 minutes for only 3 plates to arrive with no one else in line in front of us. They were served in to-go boxes. The eggs were fake, chalky concoctions. My husband’s only request was no tomatoes in his omelette — they brought in his order with tomatoes — which of course he was forced to eat, because after waiting 40 min for your messed up order, would you wait another 40 for them to bring you the correct order and possibly have spit in it? Toast is the cheapest white bread you can find with the fakest yellow butter that at first looks like melted cheese until you bite into it and realize it’s an attempt at butter. Coffee tasted like it had cleaning solution in it. Oatmeal was even worse than microwaveable 1-minute quick oats. Grilled pork chops were puny 1-oz thin cuts of tough meat that tasted like it was made 2 days ago and then microwaved before serving. Same with waffles — cooked 2 days before and then microwaved before serving. Aren’t fresh waffles supposed to be crunchier versions of pancakes? Not these waffles. Limp and soggy as noodles. The establishment was almost clean, that’s the 1 star they get. The tables were full of crumbs. Water was dripping from the ceiling. And the backs of the booths were not sturdy ATALL! Customer service? HAHAHAHAAHAHA!!! Don’t bother coming here — what a complete waste of time and money! You’re better off going to IHOP.

I had the blueberry cake donut balls and although it was flavorful, it was on the dry side. The chicken and waffles were ok. The waffle was crispy and flavorful but the fried chicken was lacking in flavor. I think if there were more batter and or salt or something on the chicken it would tastes better. Apple fritter is fair. Nothing extraordinary.

Just not very good. Forget that the service was very slow, the quality of the food was less than average.

Such a good mom and pop place for breakfast. Amazing donuts and good menu selection. Nothing fancy about it, just good eating. May not be the most appealing from the outside, but food is worth the trip inside.

We were disappointed We did not expect our food to be served in to go boxes my daughters scrambled eggs looks like instant powdered eggs. The coffee was watered down. There was only 2 choices of sweeter a sweet n low and dominos sugar. I don’t think I will ever go out of my way again to eat their food. But my oatmeal was perfect need less to say, it was the only part of my breakfast that I enjoyed the most!

What’s a buttermilk drop I asked? «Hold on» was the reply I received, followed by a fresh sample of donut-y goodness which lead to me immediately requesting a dozen of these golf ball size frosted dough balls. I have to admit, I’ve never been a cake donut fan but these are not quite just holes from a cake donut(which is what they look like) but moister and with pronounced flavor. Unfortunately, the day I went they only had the traditional flavor but I can’t wait to return and try the lemon or banana flavors. I did also try breakfast– an omelette that was cooked just right(no burned brown edges) and grits swimming in butter. Was a great, home cooked way to start my day.

Beautiful. Just an amazing, small breakfast joint. Nothing fancy, no pretension but the food is EXCELLENT! I had the biscuits and gravy, which come with some sausage, to which I added 2 eggs. I should have added some home fries, as this was not quite enough. The coffee is decent, but the breakfast was as good as any you would find at swankier uptown joints. And the price. Sooo Cheap! Go there for breakfast, you’ll be happy you did.

Looking up breakfast and got the butter milk drop accompanied by «you might also want to try(good eggs) and(la casita). You can’t pay for good reviews on Unilocal, but you can pay to put your ad at the top of the list.(Like Google( Unilocal!s owner) finds to be effective) I am disappointed to find out that a company I am invested in uses these deplorable tactics and then happily denies them. How many people have got a sponsored ad. But you can’t pay for good reviews? Seems like they are walking a fine line.

All I have to write is their hot glazed donuts are out if this world. It’s like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts had a baby! Lol The breakfast was ok. It’s a little to oily for me.

I had an amazing first time here. The owner is so nice and he’s kust an all around people’s person. I found this place off of Unilocal and I just had ti come try it out. I’m really glad I did. The owner greeted customers, cooked, and even came down sat and talked with me about new orleans, food, and even talked to me about the neighborhood were I currently reside at. I was given my first buttermilk drop and it was good. I had got the rib eye breakfast platter which was so dawg gon good. It was worth the wait. I love the atmosphere and the friendly staff here. Everything was perfect and I know I will be coming back. It something about this place that makes me feel like I’m at home or something with my kin folks. Lol!

Living in the burbs, Im always looking for a good Sunday breakfast/brunch spot. Ihop is over priced crap, waffle house is too small therefore theres always a wait, city diner and dots diner have seen there better days. We just want the usual comfort food of breakfast so besides my own kitchen or driving to the city, our options are limited. Suburb life can be rough sometimes I tell ya. So we try out this place mainly because of its menu options and close proximity to the house. We arrive and notice there’s a drive thru– note taken for those rainy Sundays. As you enter, youre greeted by a large chalkboard menu and a bakery case. I instantly become overwhelmed by all the options. I dont know where to look first, plus I forgot my glasses! The options(that I could see) were hot melt in your mouth glazed donuts, buttermilk drops in varying flavors such as coconut, lemon, regular and banana. The nice girl behind the counter must have noticed our glazed over look and offered us a sample of the drops in the case each. The buttermilk drops are def the real deal, subtle flavors and delicious. I would think only 2 or 3 could carry you over till lunch. I ended up ordering the hot sausage breakfast sandwich with eggs and cheese on toast. Its a ‘you pick your meat’ kind of deal. Dad got the hungry mans hash which included bacon, breakfast sausage, onions and cheese in brabant style hash browns and white gravy on the side– he liked it and couldnt finish it which says alot. Kids couldnt pass up the hot glazed donut option and donut holes. Drinks only come bottled and cost 1.69 each. Im not sure what business was in this building prior but they really tried their best updating the outdated interior. Everything is cute but different tables would make a huge upgrade– maybe small rounds because the ones they have now are too cramped. They have 3 booths and(4) 4 top tables. Most customers were taking it to go. We’ll def return and next time try more breakfast items like their blueberry pancakes. Very friendly service– bring cash for tips as it wasnt an option when I paid with my debit card. I noticed a lunch deal posted on a seperate board of ribs and 2 sides for 8.99. Not bad! So hopefully they will be consistent and my quest for a convenient weekend breakfast spot in the burbs is over:)

This is what apple fritters are supposed to taste like: strong cinnamon, nice apple taste in the background, and a crispy texture with a moist interior. With hot donuts behind the counter, I had to really force myself to go for the fritter. I didn’t regret it. This is an old-fashioned donut shop along the lines of the old Tastee shops around town. They also make great buttermilk drops that will have you remembering Dick Bruce taking a bite and moaning about it on TV.(If, that is, you can remember New Orleans TV from 1965).
